Abstract

Leadership development programs increasingly require experiential approaches that foster not only cognitive understanding but also behavioral transformation. Conventional classroom-based leadership training often lacks contextual and emotional engagement, particularly for management trainee programs. This study aims to describe and analyze an adventure-based leadership training model and to formulate the APPEEM model (Assess, Plan, Prepare, Event, Evaluation, and Monitoring) implemented by FASEL.Inc for management trainee leadership development. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving trainers, facilitators, and management trainees. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, while data credibility was ensured through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The findings indicate that the APPEEM model provides a structured and systematic framework for implementing adventure-based leadership training grounded in experiential learning principles. The model facilitates leadership skill development through progressive stages, reflective learning, and continuous monitoring. This study contributes a practical and conceptual model that can be adopted and adapted by organizations seeking alternative leadership training approaches beyond conventional methods.

Abstract

Empathy in counseling serves not only an interpersonal skill but also as a therapeutic practice shaped by cultural values. In Sundanese society, empathy is manifested through the values of silih asih (compassion), silih asah (grooming), and silih asuh (nurturing), which emphasize harmony, caring, and collective responsibility in social relationships. However, the understanding of empathy in counseling practice is still dominated by a Western perspective that underrepresents the dynamics of empathy in collectivist cultures. This study aims to examine empathy as a therapeutic practice rooted in Sundanese cultural values in the context of counseling in Indonesia. The study employed a qualitative case study design, collecting data through interviews, observations, and document analysis with therapists and clients in community counseling services, schools, and private practice. Thematic analysis identified four main themes: empathy as a basis for building trust; the expression of empathy through Sundanese cultural values; challenges in maintaining empathy, such as over-identification and emotional exhaustion; and strategies for sustaining empathy through supervision and peer support. The findings indicate that empathy is both a universal therapeutic mechanism and a culturally constructed practice. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating local cultural values into counseling practices that are responsive to the Indonesian context.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Volleyball Team Training Program at SMA Negeri 1 Kadupandak using the CIPP evaluation model, which encompasses context, input, process, and product. Context evaluation examines the alignment of program objectives with the school's vision and mission, while input evaluation covers the availability of human resources, facilities, and funding. Process evaluation focuses on training implementation, program management, and supervision, while product evaluation assesses program outcomes in the form of improved technical skills, character, and student achievement. This study used a descriptive approach with quantitative and qualitative methods. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, observation, and documentation. The results indicate that the volleyball training program was quite effective in improving student skills and resulting in achievements at the district and provincial levels. The program's objectives were deemed relevant to the school's vision, although socialization still needs improvement. Coach quality and student motivation are key strengths, but limited facilities, funding, and training schedule conflicts remain obstacles. Therefore, improvements in facilities, funding, and program coordination are recommended to enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of the training.

Abstract

Mastery of sharaf (morphology) is an important basis for understanding Arabic texts, as it enables learners to identify word patterns, recognize word roots, and accurately interpret morphological changes. This study examines students’ ability to apply morphological rules when reading Arabic texts at the Jabal An-Nur Islamic Private High School, North Aceh. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews, and diagnostic questionnaires given to 50 twelfth-grade students who were selected by purposive sampling based on specific criteria from a population of 543 students. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing and verification. To ensure data credibility, source and technique triangulation were used. The findings show persistent weaknesses in students’ morphological competence, especially in recognizing fi‘il mu‘tal, distinguishing verb patterns, and producing correct masdar. The questionnaire results showed that only 49% of students could correctly apply morphological rules in contextual texts. Further interview data highlighted confusion in processing empty and defective verbs. This study concludes that the lack of practical application and limited integration of morphology in reading activities contribute to these difficulties. This study recommends the implementation of contextual exercises, explicit pattern recognition training, and the use of more authentic Arabic texts to strengthen students’ morphological awareness.

Abstract

The integration of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and e-learning represents an instructional approach that has the potential to foster higher-order thinking by actively engaging students in structured problem-solving activities. This study examines the impact of combining e-learning with the PBL model and an ethnomathematics approach on eighth-grade students’ critical thinking and mathematical communication skills in learning the Pythagorean Theorem. A quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group was implemented involving Grade 8 students at SMP Negeri 4 Madiun. Participants were divided into an experimental group, which received ethnomathematics-based PBL supported by e-learning, and a control group, which was taught using conventional instructional methods. Data were collected through pretests and posttests measuring critical thinking and mathematical communication skills, and the differences between groups were analyzed using inferential statistical techniques. The findings reveal that the integration of e-learning within an ethnomathematics-oriented PBL framework has a significant and positive effect on students’ critical thinking and mathematical communication skills, thereby demonstrating its effectiveness in promoting higher-order thinking in mathematics education.

Abstract

The multisensory method is a learning approach that has been proven effective for helping students with early reading difficulties, especially in the letter recognition stage. This approach integrates various senses simultaneously, so that students not only see and hear letters but also touch and engage in physical activities related to the shape and sound of letters, making the learning process more concrete, interesting, and aligned with students’ learning styles. This study aims to improve the early reading skills of first-grade students at UPTD SDI Sikumana 3 in Kupang City by applying the multisensory method through Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, focusing on the aspects of the learning process and outcomes. The results show a significant increase in students’ reading skills, from 15% of students who achieved mastery at the beginning to 90% at the end of cycle II. However, one student still needed additional help, so differentiated learning strategies were applied. Overall, the application of the multisensory method has been proven to improve the effectiveness of early reading instruction, but it still requires continuous evaluation and adjustment for optimal results.
