Abstract

Background. The first education that children encounter is from their parents. However, not all parents understand the importance of education. The reality, family becomes a place of ineffective communication. Office of Women’s Empowerment Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Office of Medan Johor Sub-district, Medan City, in 2022 states that verbal communication violence is a problem today. Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Medan City in 2023, Kelurahan Pangkalan Mahsyur is the urban village with the largest population in the Medan Johor sub-district. Purpose. The purpose of this research is to determine and analyze the effect of verbal and nonverbal communication violence on adolescent self-disclosure. Method. This research method uses a quantitative approach with descriptive and correlation methods. The data collection technique is probability sampling with 370 samples in Pangkalan Mahsyur Village. Data shows the variable of verbal communication violence, the dimension of yelling obtained a value of 38.9%. Nonverbal communication violence variable, facial expression dimension obtained a value of 41.8%. Results. The results of The results show that the hypothesis H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted that there is an influence of verbal and nonverbal communication violence on self-disclosure. influence of verbal and nonverbal communication violence on the self-disclosure of adolescents in adolescents in Pangkalan Mahsyur Village, Medan Johor Subdistrict, Medan City, with an influence of 5.1%. with a magnitude of influence of 5.1%. Conclusion. The conclusion in this study found that verbal communication violence has a greater influence than nonverbal communication violence.  This means, there is a low categorised relationship between the relationship of verbal communication violence, nonverbal communication violence with adolescent self-disclosure in adolescents.

Abstract

Background. 21st century education emphasizes the importance of developing high-level thinking skills (HOTS) for students, including analysis, evaluation and synthesis skills. Seamless learning, which integrates technology and media, becomes relevant in this context because it creates a dynamic and connected learning experience. Purpose. This research aims to measure the increase in students’ critical thinking abilities through seamless learning using quasi-experimental methods. By adopting this approach, the research seeks to provide empirical evidence about the effectiveness of seamless learning in improving students’ critical thinking abilities. Method. This research methodology takes a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental methods. Data was collected from a school in West Sumatra, with research subjects being grade 7 students. Data collection was carried out through critical thinking ability test instruments before and after the learning period. Analysis was carried out using the t-test in SPSS to compare the two groups. Results. The results of the analysis showed significant differences between the experimental and control groups, with a greater increase in critical thinking ability scores in the experimental group. The resulting t value was 0.05, with a p value of less than 0.05, indicating that the difference between the two groups did not occur by chance. This confirms that seamless learning has a positive impact in improving students’ critical thinking abilities.   Conclusion. These findings highlight the success of seamless learning in improving students’ critical thinking abilities. However, this study has limitations, such as the relatively small sample size and limited duration of the intervention. Further research with larger sample sizes is recommended to deepen this understanding.

Abstract

Background. The use of mobile devices has brought significant changes to learning in elementary schools, offering quick access to learning resources and increasing interactivity in the learning process. This reflects a paradigm shift in education towards the use of technology as an effective and dynamic learning tool. Purpose. The aim of this research is to fill the existing knowledge gap in the literature by investigating the views of PGSD students and elementary school teachers regarding the use of mobile devices in learning at school base. It is hoped that this research can provide a deeper understanding of the potential of mobile devices in supporting the learning process at the basic level, as well as becoming a basis for developing more effective learning strategies in the future. Method. This research methodology uses a quantitative approach through a survey model involving 30 respondents, consisting of PGSD students and elementary school teachers. Data collection was carried out through distributing online questionnaires using Google Form. Data analysis was carried out using a quantitative data analysis approach, paying attention to the validity of the data through comparison with other relevant data sources. Results. The results of the questionnaire analysis show that the majority of students use mobile devices regularly, indicating widespread adoption of technology in the educational context. However, challenges that need to be overcome include a lack of training and support for educators, as well as school policies that may not fully support the integration of technology in the curriculum.   Conclusion. The integration of mobile devices in learning in elementary schools promises many benefits, but also faces challenges that need to be overcome. With adequate support, it is hoped that the use of mobile devices can become an effective and inclusive learning tool for all students, preparing them to face the demands of an increasingly digitally connected world.

Abstract

Background. Education in the 21st century has experienced significant changes with the development of digital technology. The use of media and technology in the learning process is becoming increasingly important to meet the demands of the times. One of the innovations that has emerged is the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), an online learning platform that provides open access to learning materials from various fields globally. MOOCs promise great flexibility and accessibility, which can increase participation in education. Purpose. This research aims to investigate the effect of MOOC learning duration on the achievement of educational students’ learning objectives. Method. The research method used is a quantitative approach with survey methods. A total of 30 education student respondents who had taken MOOC courses were the research subjects. Data was collected by filling out a questionnaire distributed via the WhatsApp group. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles Huberman technique to investigate the relationship between MOOC learning duration and achievement of learning objectives. Results. The research results showed that the majority of participants felt that the MOOC learning duration provided benefits in understanding the learning material and increasing their learning motivation. However, some participants felt neutral regarding the contribution of learning duration in completing assignments and exams. The majority of respondents did not feel a significant impact of longer duration on achieving higher learning goals.   Conclusion. Although MOOC learning duration provides benefits in understanding the material and learning motivation, there are several aspects that need to be considered. The role of other factors such as the quality of learning materials and interaction between participants and instructors may be more important in achieving learning objectives. Therefore, course organizers need to continue to monitor participant feedback and evaluate the learning duration offered to improve the learning experience in MOOCs.
