Abstract

Composition function material is one of the mathematics learning materials that is considered difficult, so the learning process can include problems in everyday life. One solution to overcome these difficulties is the existence of teaching materials in the form of mathematics worksheets which can help students' learning process. This research aims to determine the stages of development and to determine the validity and practicality of mathematics worksheets based on Problem Based Learning material on composition functions. This type of research is development research with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) development model. The research instruments used in this study were (1) interview guide (2) validation sheet (3) student response questionnaire. The validation results from two material experts and two media experts obtained an overall average score of 3.4 and 3.8 and met the very good criteria. The practical aspect based on the student questionnaire response criteria is very good with a score of 4.4. From these data, it can be concluded that the Mathematics Student Worksheet based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) composition function material that was developed meets the valid and effective categories so it is suitable for use in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the percentage of misconception levels of junior high school students using a five tier diagnostic test on the classification of living things. This type of research is quantitative descriptive with a population of class VII students at SMP Negeri 3 Bangkalan for the 2022/2023 academic year. The samples used in the research were classes VII-A and VII-D based on purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out by administering five tier diagnostic test questions. The research results showed that: 1) Students experienced M (Misconception) 37.73%, SC (Scientific Conception) 17.27%, ASC (Almost Scientific Conception) 2.73%, LK (Lack of Knowledge) 26.64%, NU (No Understanding Conception) 15.18%, and UnC (Un-Code) 0.45%, 2) The percentage of classification of misconception levels based on calculations using standard deviation and the mean of students is in the low misconception category of 27.27%, moderate misconception amounted to 52.73%, and high misconceptions amounted to 20%. Based on the results of the research and data analysis carried out, it can be concluded that the high percentage of students' misconceptions indicates that the material on the classification of living things is quite difficult for students at SMP Negeri 3 Bangkalan to understand.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the activity and learning outcomes of class VIII students at Islamic Junior High School Nasy-Atul Muta'allimin Candi. Researchers used the observation method to determine student activity, questionnaires to determine student responses to the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning model, and tests to determine student learning outcomes improvement. The results of data analysis, it can be concluded that student activity from cycle I to cycle II experienced an increase of 0.23. Where in the first cycle an average of 3.01 was obtained and in the second cycle an average of 3.24 was obtained in the good category. Based on the student response questionnaire, it also increased from cycle I to cycle II by 25%, the percentage of students who answered "Yes". Where in the first cycle a percentage of 60.71% was obtained and in the second cycle a percentage of 85.71% was obtained, which indicated that the student's response was positive. Then based on the test results, it also showed an increase of 20%, where in cycle I obtained a percentage of 60% and in cycle II obtained a percentage of 80%. The improvement in test results in cycle II was said to be classically complete because the percentage obtained was ≥75%. So it can be concluded that the use of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning model can improve student learning outcomes at MTs Nasy-Atul Muta'allimin Candi.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the ethnoscience found in the Madura Keris which can be used as a source of learning natural sciences for junior high schools. The time of research was in July-September at the Aeng Tong Tong village, Sumenep. Methods of data collection using the method of observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, data presentation, conclusions and verification. There is data triangulation using the triangulation method by matching the interview results with the observation sheet. The results of the data findings were then verified by the SMP science teacher. The research results show that: 1) the results of the ethnoscience study can be seen in the tools and materials used, the manufacturing process, community techniques in caring for and conserving Madurese keris in the local community; 2) the results of the ethnoscience study are connected and closely related to the science concept material for grade 7 & grade 8 independent curriculum, namely elements, compounds, mixtures of materials, temperature, heat and changes in form. These results show that the Madurese keris can be used as a source of science learning for junior high schools.

Abstract

This research discusses the level of students' creative and innovative abilities according to the indicators in 21st century learning which aims to determine the effect of realistic mathematics learning and describe the level of students' innovative creative thinking skills. The method used in this research is mixed method. The results showed that based on the results of hypothesis testing there was a significant effect with the results of Assym Sig 0.000 <0.05, meaning that realistic mathematics learning was able to improve students' creative and innovative thinking skills and based on data analysis there were 3 students who had level 0 creative and innovative thinking skills, 17 students who had level 1 creative and innovative thinking skills, 7 students who had level 2 creative and innovative thinking skills, and 1 student who had level 3 creative and innovative thinking skills.

Abstract

Integrating the local potential as a learning resource is a vital component of the curriculum to guarantee that learning is both practical and relevant. Transforming biodiversity identification data from students' environments into learning media may improve students' understanding of biodiversity by providing them with a deeper insight into the contextual aspects of biodiversity. Thus, it is essential to design an electronic module for pisces diversity in the village of Plalangan Kalisat that includes fish identification outcomes.The aims of this study are as follows: to ascertain the validity of the pisces diversity e-module product containing fish identification results in the developed village of Plalangan Kalisat; and to determine the practicality of the aforementioned product in the developed village of Plalangan Kalisat. This study used the Lee & Owens (2004) development model. The product validation conducted by material experts yielded an average percentage of 89.83% (highly valid), by media specialists yielded an average percentage of 89.78% (highly valid), by Indonesian language experts yielded an average percentage of 92.22% (highly valid), and by biology teachers yielded an average percentage of 93.33% (highly valid). The small group trial yielded an average percentage of 92.83% (highly appealing). The findings from the large group trial revealed an average score of 94.91% (highly appealing). Based on these two test results, it can be concluded that the developed e-Module has proven to be valid and practical.

Abstract

Critical thinking is the ability to analyze and evaluate information logically. This research aims to test the validity, practicality and improvement of critical thinking of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 106162 Medan Estate using student worksheet based on critical thinking skills on the properties of light. The research method used is research and development with the ADDIE model. The research results show that the student worksheet based on critical thinking skills has high validity, good practicality, and can improve students' critical thinking skills. It can be seen that the validity of the student worksheet which was developed using a validation sheet and the average validator is 86, so that the student worksheet based on critical thinking skills is included in the very valid category criteria. The practicality of the Student worksheet was measured using an educator questionnaire sheet and the average student response was 85.49 in the very practical category. The effectiveness of the student worksheet is measured by looking at changes in the pretest and posttest results, which show an increase in students' critical thinking skills at a percentage of 65% in the quite effective category. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that student worksheet based on critical thinking skills can be used as teaching material in student learning.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum is a new curriculum launched by the Ministry of Education as an effort to restore learning from 2022 to 2024. The Merdeka Curriculum encourages the implementation of project-based, problem-based learning methods and other methods that support children to freely explore. The objectives of this research are 1) to describe the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in class VII science learning at SMP Negeri 4 Jember. 2) to know the supporting and inhibiting factors for implementing the Merdeka Curriculum at SMP Negeri 4 Jember. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. In collecting data, researchers used observation, interview and documentation techniques. The research was carried out from March to May 2023 with research subjects including Head of Curriculum, Science Teachers and Class VII students. Next, the data is analyzed and tested for credibility. The results of the research can be concluded that, 1) The Merdeka Curriculum is implemented in stages starting from class VII. In science learning, teachers use the Problem Based Learning model and differentiated learning. 2) supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum include adequate facilities and infrastructure, the willingness of science teachers to learn about the Merdeka Curriculum, lack of references, little experience, and the unavailability of school gardens.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop an Merdeka curriculum teaching module for the science and science project subject matter of substances and changes based on the local wisdom of Bondowoso Batik at SMK Negeri 1 Tamanan and to find out the responses of practitioners and students to the teaching module developed. This research uses Research and Development research, with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) development model. The subjects in this research were 33 students in class X Craft Design and Production at SMK Negeri 1 Tamanan. The results of data analysis in this research show that the development of teaching modules for the Social Science Project subject based on the local wisdom of Bondowoso Batik is valid, very good, and very interesting to increase student interest. This is proven by: (1) The validation results of the material expert obtained a score of 93.84% which was included in the "Very Valid" category, (2) The validation results of the Merdeka curriculum learning planning expert obtained a score of 98.67% which received the qualification "Very Good", (3) The results of the small scale and large scale response tests obtained a score of 87.87% and 93.24% respectively which met the criteria of "Very Interesting", (4) The validation results from practitioners obtained a score of 92.66% which is included in the criteria "Very Valid. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the Merdeka curriculum teaching module based on the local wisdom of Bondowoso batik in science and science learning is suitable for use as a learning resource.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of students’ learning motivation to retention in biology learning. This research is included in quantitative research. The research sample was 56 students. To measure learning motivation, the ARCS (Attention, Relevance, Confidence and Satisfaction) motivation questionnaire was used which was adapted from Keller (2010) with a total of 36 statements. Retention was measured using an essay test which was carried out 2 weeks after the posttest. Student answers were then measured using Hart's (1994) rubric. A simple linear regression analysis was carried out to see the effect of students’ learning motivation toward retention. The results of data analysis show that there is a significant effect of students’ learning motivation toward the retention. Based on the regression results, it is known that the R value is 0.654, which indicates that there is a correlation in which a strong relationship between motivation and retention. Motivation has a contribution of 42.8% to retention and 57.2% is influenced by other factors. It can be concluded that learning motivation can encourage working memory performance so that the flow of information can be processed in the long-term memory.
