Abstract

The development of Islamic education in Indonesia reflects a dynamic process aligned with the progress of civilization, particularly regarding the importance of diversity in education, which must be instilled in students' daily lives. In this context, Islamic education plays a central role in preserving, maintaining, and passing down values, beliefs, and traditions to future generations. This study aims to explore and deeply analyze the concept of pluralism from the perspective of KH. Abdurrahman Wahid and examine its relevance to contemporary Islamic education. KH. Abdurrahman Wahid is widely recognized as a prominent figure who consistently upholds the values of pluralism, emphasizing the importance of respecting ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity. This research employs a library research method with a qualitative approach, while data analysis is carried out using content analysis techniques on various written sources. The findings reveal that pluralism, according to KH. Abdurrahman Wahid, serves as a fundamental foundation for building a harmonious society. Values such as tolerance, openness, and respect for differences are central to his perspective. In the educational context, this concept has significant implications, including the need for inclusive curriculum development, teaching methods that foster tolerance, and character formation that emphasizes respect for diversity. Therefore, this study recommends integrating the values of pluralism into the education system as an effort to create a peaceful, respectful, and humanistic learning environment.

Abstract

Inclusive education is a crucial global issue to ensure equal learning rights for all children, including people with disabilities. In Indonesia, especially in the context of Islamic education, the integration of Islamic values into an inclusive curriculum still faces challenges, such as limited teacher training and suboptimal curriculum design. This study aims to identify and analyze inclusive curriculum models in Islamic educational institutions based on Islamic values. This study was conducted using a systematic literature review method of 24 scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025. The results of the analysis show that the application of Islamic values such as at-ta'aruf (knowing each other), at-tasammuh (tolerance), at-tawassuth (moderation), and at-ta'awun (cooperation) can strengthen an inclusive curriculum. Teachers play a key role in adapting learning to the needs of students and collaborating with parents and communities. Curriculum adaptation and the use of technology also support the creation of a fair and friendly learning environment for all students. This study contributes to the development of a more responsive Islamic education curriculum and serves as a practical reference for policymakers and practitioners in designing inclusive and contextual learning systems.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the core character values and formation strategies implemented by dzuriyah (descendants of the founders) in shaping the character of santri ndalem (resident student-assistants) at Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo HM Al-Mahrusiyah. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that key character values instilled include tafaqquh fi ad-din (deep religious understanding), honesty, responsibility, discipline, and independence. These values are internalized through daily acts of service, emotional closeness, and consistent spiritual practice. The character-building strategies consist of habitual training, role modeling, situational advice, and spiritual reinforcement through prayer. The relationship between dzuriyah and santri ndalem resembles a familial bond that fosters a holistic and humanistic learning environment. Challenges include role conflict between academic obligations and service duties, as well as cultural diversity among students. Despite its single-site limitation, this study contributes conceptually to the development of community-based and spiritually grounded character education in Islamic boarding schools, aligning with Global Citizenship Education values of empathy, tolerance, and moral responsibility.

Abstract

The phenomenon of violent speech among Indonesian political elites increased significantly during the post-transition regime period of 2024, particularly on digital platforms that amplify the visibility of controversial discourse. This study aims to identify the linguistic patterns of verbal violence employed by political elites and to explain how these language strategies contribute to the construction of power relations in the post-truth era. The research adopts a corpus-based critical discourse analysis with Derrida’s deconstruction as its theoretical lens. The data consist of 142 public statements drawn from political speeches, media interviews, press releases, and posts on TikTok, X, and YouTube between January and July 2025. The analysis was conducted in three stages: corpus mapping using AntConc, thematic coding with NVivo, and binary opposition deconstruction to uncover symbolic strategies. The findings reveal three main categories of verbal violence: (1) mockery and personal insults through bodily metaphors and vulgar diction, (2) group stigmatization such as the dichotomy of “ordinary people” versus “global elites,” and (3) symbolic threats grounded in moral and religious legitimacy. These linguistic strategies are further reinforced by social media algorithms that prioritize provocative content, thereby shaping public opinion and deepening political polarization. This study contributes to the development of political linguistics in Indonesia by highlighting the interconnection between elite discourse, algorithmic amplification, and the construction of power within the post-truth context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse Paulo Freire's concept of emancipatory education about Islamic educational values, particularly in the aspects of liberation and critical consciousness. The main focus of this research is to explore the alignment between Freire’s problem-posing education approach and the principles of Islamic education, which emphasise the development of individuals who are knowledgeable, ethical, and socially responsible. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using library research methods, drawing on various academic sources including books, nationally accredited journals (SINTA), and reputable international journals such as those indexed by Scopus. Data analysis is conducted through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing using a comparative approach between Freire's theory and the Islamic educational perspective. The findings indicate that Freire’s critical pedagogy shares fundamental values with Islamic principles such as tawhid (monotheism), justice, and social responsibility. Freire’s idea of education as a process of liberation aligns with the aims of Islamic education, which seeks to free individuals from ignorance and oppression toward spiritual and social enlightenment. The value of critical consciousness in Islam is reflected in Qur'anic verses such as Surah Az-Zumar: 9 and Al-Baqarah: 269. This study opens opportunities for integrating critical pedagogy into a more humanistic and transformative contemporary Islamic education..
