Abstract

Patient satisfaction affects various aspects of hospital healthcare services, including both inpatient and outpatient care. Patient satisfaction can be defined as the condition experienced by patients after receiving services or treatment that meet their expectations. This study aimed to analyze the waiting time in relation to patient satisfaction at the laboratory installation of Daya Regional General Hospital. This research employed a quantitative approach using an analytical-descriptive observational design with a cross-sectional study. The study was conducted from May to June 2024 at Daya Regional General Hospital. The study population consisted of all patients who visited the hospital’s laboratory installation, totaling 16,151 patients in 2023. Based on the sample size calculation, the minimum number of respondents required for this study was 164. The findings showed that the average waiting time for services at the laboratory installation met the established standards. This was reflected by 265 patients (98.1%) who received services within the standard waiting time. In addition, a significant relationship was found between waiting time and patient satisfaction at the laboratory installation. These results indicate that the longer the waiting time experienced by patients, the greater the likelihood of dissatisfaction. Therefore, the findings demonstrate a clear pattern that waiting time is one of the factors influencing patient satisfaction.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve pregnant women’s knowledge regarding triple elimination examinations (HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B) through structured health education in Cipedes Village, West Java. The method used was participatory education with lectures, discussions, and distribution of educational leaflets. A total of 40 pregnant women attended the session. Pre- and post-test results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores (average pre-test 56.5 vs post-test 82.3). The findings indicate that health education interventions conducted by midwives are effective in raising awareness and compliance with maternal screening programs. This activity contributes to maternal and neonatal health improvement and supports national targets for triple elimination.

Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability that requires long-term treatment and rehabilitation. In addition to medical treatment, complementary therapy is increasingly used by the community as supportive therapy for stroke patients. However, public understanding regarding the safety and benefits of complementary therapy is still varied. This study aimed to determine public perceptions regarding the safety and benefits of complementary therapy in stroke patients. This study used a quantitative descriptive design with a purposive sampling technique involving 60 respondents. Data were collected using questionnaires on public perceptions regarding the safety and benefits of complementary therapy in stroke patients. The complementary therapies discussed in this study included cupping therapy, massage, herbal therapy, acupressure, and other traditional therapies. The results showed that perceptions regarding the safety of complementary therapy were mostly in the sufficient category with 28 respondents (46.7%), while 21 respondents (35.0%) had good perceptions and 11 respondents (18.3%) had poor perceptions. Perceptions regarding the benefits of complementary therapy were also mostly in the sufficient category with 27 respondents (45.0%), while 24 respondents (40.0%) had good perceptions and 9 respondents (15.0%) had poor perceptions. Respondents stated that complementary therapy could help reduce muscle stiffness, improve relaxation, and increase comfort in stroke patients. However, some respondents still doubted the safety and effectiveness of complementary therapy due to limited information and understanding. The study concludes that public perceptions regarding the safety and benefits of complementary therapy in stroke patients are still varied. Therefore, health education from health workers, especially nurses, is needed to improve public understanding regarding the safe and appropriate use of complementary therapy in stroke patients.

Abstract

Disasters are events that can threaten human life and cause physical, psychological, and environmental impacts. Indonesia, including Central Kalimantan, is one of the regions vulnerable to disasters such as floods, forest and land fires, and extreme weather. Lack of disaster preparedness among students can increase the risk of panic, injury, and inappropriate response during emergency situations at school. Therefore, knowledge about disaster preparedness is important to improve students’ readiness in facing disasters. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge and students’ preparedness in facing disasters at a senior high school in Central Kalimantan. This research used a quantitative design with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted in February 2026 involving 60 respondents selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using knowledge and disaster preparedness questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Spearman Rank test. The results showed that most respondents had good knowledge (53.3%) and were categorized as prepared in facing disasters (63.3%). Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge and disaster preparedness with a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05). Students with better knowledge tended to have higher preparedness in dealing with disaster situations. The study concludes that knowledge has an important role in improving students’ disaster preparedness. Continuous disaster education and simulation programs are needed to support disaster-resilient schools and improve students’ readiness in emergency situations.

Abstract

Self-confidence is a crucial aspect of psychosocial development in school-aged children. Low self-confidence can negatively affect academic achievement, social interactions, and overall mental well-being. The family environment, particularly family communication and parenting styles, plays a significant role in shaping children's self-perception and confidence. However, modern social changes and increasing demands of daily life have reduced the quality of family communication, creating a "silent crisis" that often goes unnoticed and may hinder children's psychosocial development. This study aimed to analyze the role of family communication and parenting styles in the development of self-confidence among school-aged children. This study employed a quantitative analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 40 respondents participated in the study, consisting of 27 females (67.5%) and 13 males (32.5%), selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Family Communication Scale (FCS), Parenting Style Questionnaire (PSQ), and Self-Confidence Scale for Children. Data analysis included univariate, bivariate (Chi-square test). The findings revealed a significant relationship between family communication and children's self-confidence (p < 0.05). Parenting style was also significantly associated with self-confidence, with democratic (authoritative) parenting showing the strongest positive influence compared to authoritarian and permissive parenting styles (p < 0.05). Furthermore, family communication emerged as the most dominant factor influencing the development of self-confidence among school-aged children. The Conclusion Effective family communication and democratic parenting styles play an important role in fostering self-confidence among school-aged children. Strengthening parent–child communication and promoting positive parenting practices may contribute to improving children's psychosocial development and emotional well-being.

Abstract

Diabetic ulcers are wounds that occur in people with Diabetes Mellitus due to complications of microangiopathy and macroangiopathy. Diabetic foot ulcers are damage that occurs partially (partial thickness) or completely (full thickness) in the skin area that extends to the subcutaneous tissue, tendons, muscles, bones or joints. One effort to overcome the problem of diabetic ulcers is by performing wound care. Wound care is the act of treating wounds by creating moist conditions in the wound so that it can help the process of epithelialization and wound healing. Wound cleaning treatment can be done by using physiological fluids such as normal saline (NaCl 0.9%) to maintain wound moisture and keep granulation dry. The purpose of this case report is to determine the effect of wound care in treating diabetic ulcers. The method used in this study is a case study (case report). The sample in this case report is a patient with the main complaint of diabetic ulcers on the lower extremities. The data collection method used in this study was carried out through interviews, observations and physical examinations. The conclusion of this case report is that there is an influence of wound care using the modern dressing method on the ulcer wound healing process.

Abstract

Diabetic Foot Ulcer is a common and worrying complication of diabetes mellitus, often caused by ineffective treatment, which can lead to amputation or death. This study used a Quasi Experimental research design with a Pre PostTest Group Design approach. The sampling technique for this study was Probability Sampling with a Simple Random Sampling approach. The sample in this study was 34 respondents consisting of 17 respondents with intervention group I, 17 respondents as intervention group II. The comparison before and after washing the wound using green betel leaves with the Wilcoxon test obtained a p-value of 0.001 (≤0.05) which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted indicating that there is an effect between washing the wound using green betel leaves on the healing of Diabetic Foot Ulcer. The comparison before and after washing the wound using normal saline with the Wilcoxon test obtained a p-value of 0.001 (≤0.05) which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted indicating that there is an effect between washing the wound using normal saline (NaCl) on the healing of Diabetic Foot Ulcer. Comparison of wound washing in intervention group I and intervention group II using Mann-Whitney test analysis showed a p-value of 0.708 (≥0.05) so H0 was accepted and H1 was rejected, which means there was no significant comparison of healing Diabetic Foot Ulcer between washing wounds using green betel leaves and washing wounds using normal saline.Washing wounds using green betel leaves and normal saline can affect the healing of Diabetic Foot Ulcer effectively, so green betel leaves can be an alternative in carrying out wound care for Diabetic Foot Ulcer.
