Abstract

This conceptual article stems from concerns about the multidimensional challenges facing Islamic education in the contemporary era, such as digitalization, quality gaps, and the crisis of curriculum relevance. Using a qualitative literature study method, this research conducts an in-depth investigation to answer the main question: are classical theological foundations, particularly hadiths on seeking knowledge, still relevant in addressing the challenges of today? The research findings reveal that theological principles in the hadith, such as the obligation to seek knowledge (farḍ), its orientation as a path to paradise, and the criteria for its usefulness, contain dynamic values that can serve as an ethical and philosophical compass. These values are not outdated but rather offer a solution-oriented framework for designing an Islamic education that is adaptive, integrative, and character-based. Furthermore, this research shows that the internalization of these values has a direct impact on increasing students' intrinsic learning motivation and shaping the professional framework of teachers who are not only techno-pedagogically skilled but also spiritually strong. Thus, this article concludes that revitalizing understanding of theological foundations is not merely a matter of preserving heritage, but rather a strategic imperative for establishing an Islamic education that is authentic, superior, and responsive to global change.

Abstract

Learning motivation is a crucial factor in educational success, particularly in Islamic education, which emphasizes a balance between academic achievement and the development of spiritual and moral character. This study aims to analyze students’ learning motivation from a holistic perspective at Madrasah Aliyah Nurul Islam by examining the interconnection of academic, spiritual, emotional, and social aspects. This research employs a case study method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning and religious activities at the madrasah. The findings indicate that students’ learning motivation is influenced by a combination of internal and external factors. Internal factors include learning interest, self-confidence, academic goals, emotional stability, and spiritual awareness. External factors encompass teachers’ roles, parental support, classroom climate, the madrasah’s religious culture, and peer influence. The implementation of a holistic approach integrating religious practices, teacher mentoring, and collaborative learning has been shown to enhance students’ intrinsic motivation, learning engagement, and academic as well as moral responsibility. This study concludes that a holistic educational approach plays a strategic role in enhancing students’ learning motivation in madrasah settings. This approach not only improves academic achievement but also contributes significantly to the development of students’ character and spiritual growth in a comprehensive manner.

Abstract

The problems of Islamic Religious Education are various obstacles that hinder the optimal achievement of the goals of Islamic Religious Education. This study discusses the problems of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in a multicultural environment and relevant learning strategies to address the challenges of diversity. Islamic Religious Education plays a strategic role in shaping the religious character and tolerant attitudes of students. However, heterogeneous social realities, including differences in culture, language, ethnicity, and even religious practices, often create obstacles in the learning process. This study uses a literature review method with a qualitative descriptive approach through an analysis of various literature related to Islamic education, multiculturalism, and Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning strategies. The results of the study indicate that the main problems in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning in a multicultural environment lie in the learning approach that is still normative and textual, the lack of teacher competency in implementing inclusive learning models, and a curriculum that does not explicitly accommodate multicultural values. This study offers several learning strategies, including the use of a dialogic approach, project-based learning, social case studies, and the integration of digital technology as a learning medium that strengthens the values of tolerance, empathy, and cooperation.

Abstract

This study examines the essential role of research title construction and problem formulation in educational research. A research title serves as a concise conceptual indicator of the study’s scope, variables, and context, while the formulation of a research problem provides the intellectual foundation that guides objectives, methodological choices, and data analysis. Despite their importance, many novice researchers continue to struggle in identifying researchable problems and aligning them with coherent titles. Using a descriptive qualitative approach supported by literature analysis, this study finds that effective titles must be clear, relevant, and reflective of meaningful educational issues. Likewise, a well-formulated problem must address a genuine conceptual or empirical gap and be feasible for investigation. Findings demonstrate that clarity in problem formulation strongly correlates with methodological coherence and the overall quality of research outcomes. Conversely, vague problems often lead to weak analytical conclusions. This study underscores the need for stronger methodological literacy among educators and students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze educational research planning systematic through a aqualitative approach based on library research by analyzing key concepts and prinsiples of research methodology from various academic sources. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis techniques the stages of classification, desription, synthesis, and then drawing conclusions. The results of the discussion grouped three main pillars of planning: firs, problem formulation that must meet empirical, specific, and relevant criteria; second is the function of theory and conceptual foundation as an academic foundation for building a framework of thought and finding research gaps or gaps; and finaly, the hypothesis formulation technique as a rational and empitically tested temporary solution or answer. It was concluded that systematic planning, starting from defining the problem to proposing a hypothesis supported by theory, is an absolite prerequisite for ensuring the validity, focus and contribution of educational research.

Abstract

This article discusses the institutional roles and coordination in implementing Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach through library research, the study examines the roles of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), and educational institutions in managing PAI. The findings reveal that the dual authority between Kemenag and Kemendikbudristek often leads to overlapping policies in teacher management, curriculum design, and learning evaluation. To address this issue, stronger institutional synergy is needed through a national coordination forum and the reinforcement of regulations that clearly define institutional responsibilities. Such synergy is expected to create an integrated and effective Islamic education system that harmonizes spiritual and intellectual aspects, ensuring PAI contributes to developing knowledgeable, faithful, and morally upright generations aligned with national education goals.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the motivation to seek knowledge from the perspective of the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and its implications for Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method through analysis of various literature sources including the Qur'an, hadith, scientific books, and relevant journal articles. The results of the study indicate that knowledge in Islam originates from Allah SWT and has intellectual and spiritual dimensions. The Prophet's hadith emphasizes that seeking knowledge is an obligation for every Muslim regardless of gender, so that the activity of seeking knowledge has the value of worship and becomes a source of learning motivation. The implications of this study indicate that Islamic education needs to instill learning motivation oriented towards moral, spiritual, and social responsibility values in order to achieve comprehensive educational goals.

Abstract

This paper examines the development of the Indonesian education curriculum after the 1998 Reformation era, including the 2004 Competency-Based Curriculum (KBK), the 2006 School-Level Curriculum (KTSP), the 2013 Curriculum (K-13), and the Independent Curriculum. Each curriculum is analyzed based on its rationale, objectives, main characteristics, and comparisons, particularly from the perspective of implementation and its impact on improving the quality of national education. This study emphasizes that curriculum reform is both a form of adaptation to changing times and a strategic effort to improve the quality of human resources, although in practice it always faces various implementation obstacles. The main argument is developed through the presentation of characteristics and comparative analysis between curricula that show a shift in perspective, starting from a centralized system to a more decentralized management, from an emphasis on mastery of material to the development of comprehensive competencies, and from a rigid learning approach to flexibility. This article concludes that although each curriculum has a different approach, all of them lead to the same goal, namely to enlighten the life of the nation, with the Independent Curriculum seen as the pinnacle of educational efforts to humanize humans through the principle of freedom to learn.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the concept of civilized human beings (insan adabi) in the Islamic educational thought of Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas as a philosophical-pedagogical foundation for formulating an alternative paradigm for contemporary Islamic education. The study uses a qualitative approach with a library research design, examining al-Attas's primary works such as Islam and Secularism (1993), The Concept of Education in Islam (1980), and Prolegomena to the Metaphysics of Islam (1995). Data were analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method through three stages: description of al-Attas's concept of human, analysis of epistemological-ontological-axiological foundations, and interpretation of contemporary relevance. The results of the study show that al-Attas' concept of human beings emphasizes the formation of an adabi human being who has a multi-dimensional existential structure (intellectual, spiritual, moral) that is developed integrally through the process of ta'dib instilling adab, developing reason, and forming morals. Adab is defined as the recognition and acknowledgment of the proper place for everything in the hierarchical order of being (maratib al-wujud). The study concludes that al-Attas' concept of human beings offers a holistic and integrative paradigm of Islamic education, capable of responding to the crisis of modern education (secularization, fragmentation, dehumanization) by producing a generation of Muslims who have strong faith, broad knowledge, and noble morals to answer contemporary challenges without losing their Islamic identity.
