Abstract

This qualitative research aims to determine the effectiveness of the transition program from early childhood education (PAUD) to elementary school (SD) in Malang, based on six fundamental aspects. Through a survey of teachers and principals, this study explores the model, implementation process, and factors influencing the program's transition. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed to assess the extent to which six basic aspects are included in the transition process. Researchers point out that despite efforts to combine these aspects, challenges such as lack of teacher training, inconsistent implementation, and emphasis on academic achievement still remain. This study highlights the need for a more holistic approach to transition programs that prioritizes social-emotional development, critical thinking, and a love of learning. The recommendations include providing professional development to teachers on six basic aspects, fostering collaboration between PAUD and SD, and involving parents in the transition process.

Abstract

Accidents involving young children, both at home and at school, continue to increase. One of the causes is the lack of safe play facilities and the overprotective attitude of parents. This study aims to examine the relationship between teachers' and parents' knowledge of injury risks and the preventive actions they take to protect children during physical activities. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method, involving observation, structured interviews, and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, and classical assumption tests through SPSS. The results of the study show a positive correlation between teachers' and parents' knowledge and the implementation of preventive measures, such as close supervision, the use of protective equipment, and preparedness in dealing with emergencies. Basic knowledge of first aid and cooperation between teachers, parents, and medical staff proves to create a safer environment. In conclusion, good knowledge of injury risks enables teachers and parents to be more proactive in preventing injuries, thereby creating a safe play environment that supports children's optimal development.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the post-COVID-19 pandemic phenomenon, which revealed that early childhood children experienced challenges and delays in developing communication skills. Communication skills need to be fostered from an early age. This study aims to describe the use of drawing and storytelling activities as a strategy to stimulate oral communication skills among 5–6-year-old children in Group B of TK Al Hikmah Surabaya. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involved 20 children as subjects over a period of two months. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Observations were conducted during the drawing and storytelling activities, focusing on visible behaviors and the storytelling processes carried out by the children. Interviews were conducted with teachers and parents to explore perceived developments in the children's communication skills. The results showed that free drawing and storytelling activities increased the frequency of children's speech, enriched their vocabulary, improved sentence structure, and fostered their confidence in expressing ideas orally. The study concludes that this visual-verbal strategy is highly effective in supporting early childhood communication development and is suitable for integration into character-based Islamic education. Drawing and storytelling activities are strongly recommended as a regular approach in early childhood education. This approach should be integrated into curricula that emphasize character formation and holistic language development.

Abstract

Early reading literacy is an important foundation in the development of early childhood literacy skills that have a direct impact on their readiness to enter primary education. The urgency of this research is based on the low awareness of the importance of literacy stimulation from an early age and the limited utilization of contextual learning media. This study aims to examine in depth the concept of early reading literacy, the learning approaches used in its introduction, and the effectiveness of learning media in supporting the development of these skills. This research uses the literature study method by systematically tracing and reviewing more than twenty sources of current scientific literature, both in the form of journal articles, books, and research reports. The data analysis technique was conducted qualitatively through thematic analysis approach to identify key themes relevant to the topic. The results of the study show that learning media designed with a concrete and fun approach, such as literacy boards and phased word play, can significantly increase children's learning motivation and phonological understanding. The contribution of this study is not only to enrich the conceptual understanding of early literacy but also to provide practical recommendations in the selection and development of learning media that are suitable for early childhood characteristics. More broadly, the findings provide new directions for curriculum development and literacy learning strategies in the context of Early Childhood Education (ECED).

This study aims to determine the implementation of interactive storytelling methods to develop speaking ability in early childhood at RA Al Hidayah UIN Walisongo Semarang which consists of 16 children in class B1. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods. Data collection was done by observation, documentation and interview. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of interactive storytelling methods to develop children's speaking skills includes the pronunciation of sounds, language to express or convey thoughts, ideas or feelings orally.
