Abstract

Expository text writing is an essential skill in Indonesian language education at the junior high school level. However, students’ writing performance in expository texts remains relatively low, particularly in the aspects of idea organization, clarity of arguments, and proper language use. This literature study aims to explore the implementation of visual animation media as a learning tool to enhance students’ skills in writing expository texts. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review of various national and international journals published between 2020 and 2025. The findings indicate that visual animation media can increase students’ learning motivation, facilitate understanding of text structure, and assist students in developing ideas logically and coherently. Furthermore, animation effectively establishes connections between the topic and real-life contexts, thereby strengthening students’ arguments in expository writing. The use of interactive animations incorporating narrative, visual, and audio elements creates a more engaging and communicative learning environment. This study recommends integrating animation media into expository writing instruction as part of innovative, technology-based teaching strategies. It is expected that these findings will contribute to improving the quality of writing instruction in junior high schools more effectively and enjoyably.

Abstract

Music is a form of cultural expression that not only plays a role in developing aesthetics, but also as an educational medium that can instill social and civic values ​​in students. This study aims to examine the literature on the role of music as a social instrument in shaping civic behavior in elementary schools. Through a search of academic sources from national and international journals over the past five years, it was found that music can encourage attitudes of empathy, cooperation, appreciation of differences, and active participation in the social environment. Music in the form of singing, rhythmic games, and collaborative art projects has proven effective in instilling Pancasila values ​​and national spirit. Music learning associated with the theme of diversity and love for the country also encourages the creation of an inclusive classroom environment. This study concludes that music can be a strategic medium for internalizing civic values ​​in a fun and meaningful way. The implication of this study is the need for music integration into the civic education curriculum in elementary schools as an affective approach that strengthens students' social competence.

Abstract

In the context of an ever-changing environmental dynamic, educational institutions are required to continuously adapt in a sustainable manner. This article discusses how strategic management can be employed as a comprehensive framework to understand and manage the complex interactions between structural and cultural changes within the school environment. Through a qualitative approach based on a literature study, this research highlights that the process of institutional transformation does not occur linearly but is dialectical and full of dynamics. The analysis reveals that structural measures, such as the implementation of new technologies or curriculum updates, often clash with the deeply rooted organizational culture, including established value systems, norms, and long-standing practices. Resistance or rejection arising from these changes should not be viewed as obstacles but rather as important indicators reflecting underlying tensions within the system. By adopting perspectives from Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS) theory, Activity Theory, and dialectical approaches, this article emphasizes the importance of strategic leadership in managing and aligning these contradictions to promote sustainable and internally ingrained change. The main conclusion of this study is that leaders in the education sector need to shift from a control- and managerial-based leadership style toward an adaptive, facilitative approach that empowers all members of the school community as key agents in the transformation process.

Abstract

Instilling religious character is a crucial aspect in Islamic education, especially at the Junior High School level. This study aims to reveal the strategies implemented by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in instilling religious character in students at SMP IT Wahdah Islamiyah Makassar. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research informants were PAI teachers, principals, and students. The results of the study showed that PAI teachers implemented several main strategies, namely: (1) role models in daily religious behavior, (2) habituation of worship such as congregational prayer, reading the Qur'an, and morning dhikr, (3) integration of Islamic values ​​in all subjects, and (4) providing motivation and rewards for students' religious behavior. This strategy is supported by an Islamic school environment and parental involvement in fostering children's morals at home. Instilling religious character is not only done formally through classroom learning, but also through extracurricular activities and routine coaching. With this strategy, students' religious character can grow consistently and continuously. This study recommends strengthening collaboration between teachers, parents, and schools so that the formation of religious character is more optimal.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model using picture word card media on students' learning outcomes. This study employs a quantitative research method with a pre-experimental design, specifically the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The results show that prior to the treatment, out of 20 students, 9 students (45%) achieved the minimum passing grade, while 11 students (55%) did not. The average pretest score was 66.20, categorized as low. After the treatment, 15 students (75%) met the minimum passing grade, and 5 students (25%) did not. The average posttest score increased to 77.00, categorized as high. Inferential statistical analysis using the t-test formula revealed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results, with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.003 < 0.05. This indicates a significant improvement in science learning outcomes between the pretest and posttest data.

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve the learning outcomes of Indonesian language of grade III students of SDN 1 Kolono through the application of the Poster Comment method. The implementation of the action was carried out in two cycles. In cycle I, the learning outcomes showed that 62.50% or 15 out of 24 students achieved a score of ≥ 70, with an average score of 64. This result has not met the established success indicator, which is a minimum of 80% of students completing the learning. Therefore, improvements were made in cycle II. The results in cycle II showed a significant increase, with 83.33% or 20 students completing and the average score increasing to 74.70, so that the success indicator was achieved. In addition, the results of observations of teacher and student activities in cycle I showed many aspects of learning that had not been optimally implemented. After reflection and improvements, observations in cycle II showed that all aspects of learning had been implemented well, with a level of implementation reaching 95%, so that the indicators of success of learning activities were also met. Thus, the Poster Comment method has proven effective in improving learning outcomes and Indonesian language learning activities in grade III students

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) learning in science subjects at SD Negeri 23 Kendari. The results of the study indicate that teachers have implemented HOTS principles in planning and implementing learning, in accordance with the 2013 Curriculum. The Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) used includes operational verbs at cognitive levels C4 to C6, which encourage students to think critically, analytically, and creatively. Students are able to demonstrate these abilities through activities such as making mind maps and responding to learning evaluations. However, the implementation of HOTS learning online during the pandemic experienced obstacles that affected the effectiveness of the learning process. Supporting factors for HOTS implementation include the availability of learning media, a conducive school environment, and teachers who have a positive understanding and perception of HOTS. Conversely, inhibiting factors include variations in student abilities, limited facilities such as projectors and the internet, and obstacles to student attendance in online learning. Science learning with the HOTS approach has been proven to improve students' abilities in analyzing, evaluating, and creating solutions to real problems, making learning more meaningful and relevant in everyday life

Abstract

This research aims to develop a learning media in the form of a digital pop-up book to enhance the communication skills of elementary school students in the subject of IPAS. Communication skills are important to instill from an early age as they are related to the self-confidence and social relationships of students with both peers and teachers. The digital pop-up book medium was chosen due to its visual, audio, and animation advantages that can attract learning interest and provide an interactive learning experience. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model, which includes Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The media was developed using PowerPoint and Canva, and then validated by experts in content, media, and language. Implementation was carried out at SDN Dukuh Semar 1 in Cirebon City with subjects from grade IV. The validation results show that this media is very suitable for use, with a feasibility percentage of 78-87%. The media is not only visually and content-wise appealing, but also encourages students to actively speak and express their opinions. The Wilcoxon test results indicated a significance value of 0.000, indicating a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test. The N-Gain test shows an average improvement of 0.77 (high category), proving the effectiveness of the media in enhancing students' communication skills.

Abstract

This thesis is entitled : “The Use of Sabu Language by Second Generation of Savunese Migrants living in Kupang”. The research problems of this study are; (1) How is the acquisition process of Sabu language undergone by the second generation Savunese migrants living in Kupang? (2) In what domains is Sabu language used by the second generation of Savunese migrants living in Kupang?. The study aims are; to find out how is the acquisition process of Sabu language undergone by the second generation Savunese migrants living in Kupang and to find out in what domains is Sabu language used by the second generation of Savunese migrants living in Kupang. This study used qualitative descriptive method. The subject of this research was the second generation of Savunese migrants living in Kupang. There were 10 informants. The instruments of data collection are; list of questions, writing tools such as books and pen/pencil, audio-recording devices and cameras and a list of words or sentences to be translated by the informant as an additional or supporting instrument. The result shows that there are 8 informants also acquire the Sabu language from their parents and family neighbors, but 2 informants acquire the Sabu language only from their parents or family. There are two domains where the second generation uses the Sabu language; the private domain and the social domain.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the implementation of the DRTA strategy in Indonesian language learning, (2) measure students' critical thinking skills before and after the implementation of the DRTA strategy, and (3) analyze the effect of the DRTA strategy on improving students' critical thinking skills. The formulation of the problem is the main basis in designing and implementing research with a focus on improving Indonesian language learning outcomes through effective and innovative learning strategies. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research subjects consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. Data collection techniques were carried out through test instruments (pretest and posttest) and observation sheets. Data analysis was carried out using t-tests and N-Gain calculations to measure the effectiveness of the strategies implemented. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the DRTA strategy had a significant effect on improving students' critical thinking skills. This was proven by the results of the t-test with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, which indicated a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. The N-Gain value obtained was 0.73 (high category) in the experimental class, while the control class only showed an increase of 0.51 (moderate category). Thus, the DRTA strategy has proven effective in improving students' critical thinking skills in Indonesian language learning. This strategy is able to create interactive and reflective learning, as well as train students to think logically, analyze information in depth, and draw conclusions based on existing evidence. Therefore, the DRTA strategy is recommended as an alternative learning approach that is relevant to be implemented in elementary schools to support the achievement of 21st-century skills.
