Abstract

This research was prompted by the low ability of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Cipicung to write descriptive texts in English, stemming from difficulties in sentence construction, limited vocabulary, and a lack of understanding of descriptive text structure, further exacerbated by conventional teaching methods and minimal use of media. To address these issues, the Think Talk Write (TTW) cooperative learning model, assisted by flashcard media, was employed to determine its influence on students' writing ability, describe its implementation, and measure the effectiveness and improvement of student learning outcomes. Utilizing a quantitative, quasi-experimental design involving an experimental class with the TTW model and a control class with conventional methods, data analysis via independent sample t-test and N-Gain test revealed that the TTW model assisted by flashcards significantly improved students' writing ability, with a significance value of 0.008 (< 0.05) and an average N-Gain of 68.38% (moderately effective), thus making it a suitable strategy for teaching English writing in elementary schools

Abstract

This study aims to examine the forms of modernity implemented at Gontor, as well as how Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor integrates traditional pesantren values with elements of modernity in its educational and organizational systems. Employing a qualitative approach and the concept of cultural hybridity developed by Homi K. Bhabha, the study finds that Gontor has successfully established an educational model that structurally combines Islamic religious sciences with general knowledge in a unified curriculum. Furthermore, it adopts a professionally organized management system. Gontor does not solely focus on Islamic teachings but also incorporates foreign language instruction, general sciences, and leadership training, positioning itself as an adaptive educational institution in the face of global challenges. Despite the integration of modern elements, Gontor consistently upholds traditional pesantren values such as sincerity (ikhlas), simplicity (sederhana), self-reliance (mandiri), Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah), and freedom (hurriyah). These values remain central within the institution. The findings of this research suggest that Gontor's cultural transformation presents a viable model for other pesantren in navigating globalization while preserving Islamic identity. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the application of modernity in Islamic boarding school education and highlights the significance of integrating traditional values with modern elements to develop a more relevant and responsive Islamic educational system in the contemporary era

Abstract

This research is a literature review aimed at examining the practice of using interactive media in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools and its impact on classroom conditions. Interactive media has become an important tool in transforming learning from a conventional approach to a more dynamic and participatory one. In the context of Indonesian language learning, interactive media can create a conducive classroom atmosphere, increase learning motivation, and strengthen students' understanding of the learning material. The literature search was conducted by reviewing various scientific sources, both from accredited national journals and elementary education seminar proceedings. The study results indicate that interactive media such as learning videos, digital educational games, interactive quizzes, and technology-based applications can increase student engagement, improve classroom management, and build students' emotional and cognitive engagement with Indonesian language materials. The five main aspects identified in this study include increased student engagement, more effective classroom management, improved understanding of the material, development of communication skills, and the creation of a pleasant learning atmosphere. Therefore, the integration of interactive media in Indonesian language learning in elementary schools needs to be continuously developed through teacher training, infrastructure provision, and collaboration among educational stakeholders.

Abstract

Daily tests are a form of formative evaluation used to measure students' understanding of learning materials. However, in practice, daily tests often present various problems, such as learning anxiety, lack of student preparedness, and low student motivation and active participation. This literature review aims to examine students' roles in solving problems that arise during daily tests at the elementary school level. The literature review approach was conducted by reviewing various journals and scientific publications from the past five years that discuss students' active role in the learning evaluation process. The study results indicate that students' role in solving daily test problems can be maximized through independent learning strategies, the formation of study groups, self-reflection on test results, emotional and anxiety management, and open communication with teachers. It is also necessary to cultivate students' responsibility for their learning process so that they are not merely objects of evaluation but also active subjects in managing and solving academic problems. The study's conclusions confirm that active student involvement in daily tests significantly contributes to improved learning outcomes and the development of independent learner character. These findings provide important implications for teachers in designing learning and evaluation approaches that empower students.

Abstract

This study used a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental Design. The research design used a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population and sample were 53 fourth-grade students at SDN 22 Kendari. Data collection included observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that puzzle game-based learning media has an effect on fourth-grade students' learning motivation in Indonesian language at SDN 22 Kendari. This was also determined by the t-test. The results of this study were: t = 1.248 with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.219. To determine the distribution of the t-table, the value was calculated using df = 42, with a significance level of 0.609. Since the calculated t value > t table (1.248 > 0.267) and the Sig. (2-tailed) 0.001 < 0.05, Ho is rejected, thus stating that there is a significant effect of the use of puzzle-based game learning media on the learning motivation of fourth-grade students in Indonesian language at SDN 22 Kendari, providing a significant positive effect.

Abstract

Writing is a complex language skill that requires an appropriate pedagogical approach in its teaching. This study aims to examine in depth the various pedagogical approaches used in teaching Indonesian writing, based on empirical and theoretical literature. A literature search was conducted of various indexed national and international journals published between. The study results indicate that five main pedagogical approaches are predominantly used: the process approach, the genre approach, the thematic-integrative approach, the contextual approach, and the technology-based approach. Each approach has advantages in improving specific aspects of students' writing skills, from idea development and text structure to increasing creativity and language accuracy. This study also highlights the importance of integrating pedagogical theory with learner needs in classroom practice. By understanding the characteristics and effectiveness of each approach, teachers can adapt strategies appropriate to the learning context and student needs. This study is expected to serve as a reference in curriculum development and learning strategies, as well as improving the competence of Indonesian language teachers in teaching writing skills more effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

Learning Indonesian in elementary schools requires an approach that is not only cognitive but also contextual and adaptive to current developments. Banten's local wisdom, rich in noble values such as respect for nature, social solidarity, and ethical communication, offers significant potential for integration into learning. Furthermore, the computational thinking (CT) approach, which emphasizes logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, is increasingly relevant in 21st-century education. This literature study aims to explore the synergy between Banten's local wisdom values and CT principles in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level. This research employed a qualitative approach based on literature review, reviewing various articles, journals, books, and recent educational documents. The study's findings indicate that the synergy between local values and CT can improve literacy skills and critical thinking skills, as well as foster adaptive student character while remaining rooted in local culture. Local wisdom values can be used as context for CT assignments such as narrative algorithms and the decomposition of regional story texts. This study recommends the systematic integration of local culture into CT-based learning within the Indonesian language curriculum and learning strategies.

Abstract

Social Studies (IPS) learning in elementary schools plays a crucial role in shaping students' character and concern for the social and natural environment. This study aims to examine various literature on the use of natural media in social studies learning to foster students' social and ecological awareness. Natural media, such as soil, water, plants, rocks, and the environmental conditions around the school, serve not only as learning aids but also as a means to instill the values of social empathy, responsibility, and environmental preservation. This literature review was conducted by reviewing 25 relevant scientific articles, reference books, and research reports published between 2018 and 2024. The results of the study indicate that the use of natural media in social studies learning contextually and thematically can improve students' understanding of the relationship between humans and their environment, strengthen students' emotional involvement in social and ecological issues, and encourage students to actively participate in concrete actions to protect the environment. In addition, natural media strengthens experiential learning, which supports the achievement of the Independent Curriculum competencies. This study recommends that teachers design integrative and reflective learning strategies based on natural media to create a generation with social and ecological awareness.

Abstract

Literacy competency is an essential skill in 21st-century education, and writing skills, as part of basic literacy, play a crucial role in enhancing students' critical thinking and expressive abilities. This study aims to examine various Indonesian writing learning models oriented toward strengthening literacy competency in schools. Through a literature review of 20 scientific articles, reference books, and research findings from the past five years, it was found that learning approaches focused on active student engagement, the use of digital media, and the contextualization of students' personal experiences demonstrate significant results in improving writing and literacy skills across the board. Five dominant learning models were identified: project-based learning, genre-based learning, process-based writing, digital literacy-based learning, and collaborative learning. The study's results demonstrate that integrating learning models relevant to students' needs and contexts is crucial in supporting the development of writing literacy. This study recommends the use of models that accommodate diverse learning styles and provide reflective space for students to write authentically. These findings can serve as a reference for teachers, education practitioners, and curriculum developers in designing more effective and literate Indonesian writing learning strategies.

Abstract

Changes in animal feed consumption patterns in the traditional livestock sector in Wakatobi Regency have become a central issue in maintaining the economic sustainability of livestock households. This study aims to analyze the shift in the types, sources, and forms of feed used by traditional livestock farmers and their implications for their social and economic well-being. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation in three livestock villages in Wakatobi. The results indicate a significant shift from the use of natural feed (such as wild grasses and local agricultural waste) to commercial feed, which is considered more efficient but results in increased production costs and reduced profit margins for livestock farmers. Beyond the economic impact, this shift in feed consumption patterns also impacts the social aspects of livestock farmers. Interactions between livestock farmers, once intense in the fields and pastures, have decreased due to increased workloads and dependence on external feed supplies. However, new social dynamics have emerged, such as the formation of joint venture groups and feed cooperatives, which have strengthened solidarity among livestock farmers facing common challenges. Therefore, this study recommends policy interventions in the form of training in local feed production based on regional potential, strengthening livestock cooperatives, and subsidizing feed ingredients as strategic efforts to strengthen the socio-economic resilience of traditional Wakatobi livestock farmers amidst the currents of agribusiness modernization.
