Sasambo: Jurnal Abdimas (Journal of Community Service) is a scientific multidisciplinary journal published by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (LITPAM) that publish 4 issues per year in February, May, August, and November. This journal accepts and publishes scientific articles that are original and focused on community service. Manuscripts are written using an academic approach or scientific method by presenting data on the impact of community service activities that have been carried out. The theme written must have an impact or can be generalized to local, regional or national populations such as various potentials, obstacles, challenges, and problems that exist in society, as a form of contribution to empowerment and sustainable development in the social and humanities, science and technology fields.

Abstract

Pelatihan pembuatan sabun ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat, terutama kelompok PKK, dengan memberikan keterampilan membuat sabun yang dapat dikembangkan menjadi usaha rumahan. Pelatihan difokuskan pada praktek pembuatan sabun serta pengukuran peningkatan pemahaman peserta melalui pretest dan posttest dengan angket berskala Likert. Selain pelatihan teknis, analisis ekonomi untuk melihat apakah usaha ini layak dijalankan juga dilakukan. Analisis ekonomi menghitung Gross Profit Margin (GPM), Break-Even Point (BEP), Return on Investment (ROI), dan Internal Rate of Return (IRR) berdasarkan data biaya dan potensi penjualan. Dari sisi pengetahuan, hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan, dengan skor rata-rata naik dari 38/100 menjadi 82/100. Dari sisi ekonomi, usaha sabun ini dinilai sangat layak karena modal awal yang kecil, keuntungan tinggi, dan pengembalian modal yang cepat. Program ini tidak hanya meningkatkan keterampilan masyarakat, tetapi juga membuka peluang usaha berkelanjutan yang mendukung pemberdayaan perempuan dan pertumbuhan ekonomi lokal.. Strengthening the Capacity of PKK Members through Soap Production Training and Economic Value-Added Analysis This soap making training aims to empower the community, especially the PKK group, by providing soap making skills that can be developed into a home business. The training focused on the practice of making soap and measuring the increase in participants' understanding through pretest and posttest with Likert scale questionnaires. Apart from technical training, an economic analysis to see whether this business is feasible is also carried out. Economic analysis calculates Gross Profit Margin (GPM), Break-Even Point (BEP), Return on Investment (ROI), and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) based on cost data and potential sales. In terms of knowledge, the research results show a significant increase in knowledge, with the average score increasing from 38/100 to 82/100. From an economic perspective, this soap business is considered very feasible because of the small initial capital, high profits and fast return on capital. This program not only improves community skills, but also opens up sustainable business opportunities that support women's empowerment and local economic growth.

Abstract

This community service program aims to develop the potential of bidara leaves (Ziziphus mauritiana) as an herbal tea product through student entrepreneurship assistance in Ampana Kota District, Tojo Una-Una Regency. The program employed a SWOT analysis and Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach based on field data. Participants consisted of 25 respondents, including 12 students, 3 local herbal business actors, and 10 community members as potential consumers. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods with source triangulation. The results indicate that bidara leaves are abundantly available throughout the year, possess recognized health benefits, and have strong potential to be developed into value-added herbal tea products. The SWOT analysis revealed key strengths such as stable raw material availability and low production costs, while limitations in production equipment and the absence of product certification emerged as major weaknesses. The BMC design demonstrates a feasible business model emphasizing health-based value propositions and educational marketing strategies. A simple financial simulation shows that the business is economically viable, reaching a break-even point at approximately 100 product packages. Overall, this community service activity highlights the role of students as change agents in integrating innovation, health education, and local resource-based entrepreneurship to support local economic empowerment.

Abstract

Stunting merupakan masalah gizi kronis yang berdampak pada pertumbuhan fisik dan perkembangan kognitif anak, terutama pada 1.000 hari pertama kehidupan. Rendahnya pengetahuan gizi ibu hamil menjadi salah satu faktor risiko terjadinya stunting karena berpengaruh terhadap kualitas asupan nutrisi selama kehamilan. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan gizi ibu hamil melalui kegiatan kelas ibu di wilayah kerja UPTD Puskesmas Sidemen. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 4 Juli 2025 dengan melibatkan 30 ibu hamil. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi edukasi gizi, diskusi, praktik penyusunan menu, serta pre-test dan post-test pengetahuan. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan yang bermakna, dari rata-rata 76,67 menjadi 93 setelah edukasi. Berbagai luaran telah dicapai, di antaranya publikasi artikel media massa, unggahan video kegiatan, dan perolehan HaKI leaflet nutrisi ibu hamil. Program ini berjalan baik dengan dukungan aktif tenaga kesehatan dan mitra puskesmas, meskipun terdapat kendala keterlambatan kehadiran ibu hamil. Keberlanjutan program direncanakan melalui edukasi rutin bulanan oleh bidan dan tenaga gizi. Kegiatan ini terbukti efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu hamil tentang gizi dan berpotensi berkontribusi terhadap pencegahan stunting.  Improving Pregnant Women’s Nutritional Knowledge to Prevent Stunting through Antenatal Classes in the Working Area of UPTD Puskesmas Sidemen  Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that affects children’s physical growth and cognitive development, particularly during the first 1,000 days of Improving Pregnant Women’s Nutritional Knowledge to Prevent Stunting through Antenatal Classes in the Working Area of UPTD Puskesmas Sidemen life. Maternal nutritional knowledge plays a crucial role in determining the quality of nutrient intake during pregnancy, which directly influences fetal growth and the risk of stunting. This community service program aimed to improve pregnant women’s nutritional knowledge through a structured antenatal class at UPTD Puskesmas Sidemen. The activity was conducted on July 4, 2025, and involved 30 pregnant women. The intervention consisted of nutrition education, discussions, hands-on menu planning practice, and pre- and post-tests to measure knowledge improvement. The results demonstrated a significant increase in the average knowledge score, from 76.67 before the intervention to 93.00 afterward. Several outputs were successfully achieved, including a published mass media article, an online video documenting the activity, and intellectual property rights for a nutrition leaflet. Despite minor challenges related to participant attendance due to weather and transportation barriers, the program was implemented effectively with strong collaboration from healthcare providers and community partners. This activity proved effective in enhancing pregnant women’s nutritional knowledge and has potential to contribute to stunting prevention efforts in the region

Abstract

Keanekaragaman hayati merupakan konsep fundamental dalam pembelajaran biologi, namun pada praktiknya masih sering disampaikan secara teoritis, khususnya di lingkungan pendidikan nonformal. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan siswa terhadap keanekaragaman hayati melalui edukasi pembuatan awetan spesimen tumbuhan dan hewan sebagai media pembelajaran. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 21 November 2025 di Sanggar Bimbingan Wira Damai, Batu Caves, Selangor, Malaysia, dengan melibatkan 20 siswa sebagai peserta. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif-edukatif yang meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan berupa sosialisasi, penyuluhan, pelatihan, dan demonstrasi pembuatan spesimen, serta tahap evaluasi. Teknik pengawetan yang digunakan memanfaatkan bioplastik sebagai bahan ramah lingkungan. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui angket dan observasi untuk mengukur antusiasme, kepuasan, dan pemahaman peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan tingkat kepuasan peserta sebesar 90%, peningkatan pemahaman keanekaragaman hayati sebesar 88%, serta ketertarikan tinggi terhadap penggunaan spesimen awetan sebagai media pembelajaran. Kegiatan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan praktis, kesadaran lingkungan, dan pembelajaran biologi yang kontekstual. Education on Preserved Specimen Preparation as a Biodiversity Learning Medium at Wira Damai Learning Center, Malaysi Biodiversity is a fundamental concept in biology education; however, in non-formal educational settings it is often delivered in a predominantly theoretical manner. This community service program aimed to enhance students’ understanding and practical skills related to biodiversity through hands-on activities involving the preparation of preserved plant and animal specimens as learning media. The activity was conducted on November 21, 2025, at Wira Damai Learning Center, Batu Caves, Selangor, Malaysia, and involved 20 student participants. A participatory–educational approach was employed, consisting of planning, implementation through socialization, instruction, training, and specimen-making demonstrations, followed by an evaluation stage. Environmentally friendly bioplastic materials were introduced as an alternative preservation technique. Program evaluation was carried out using questionnaires and observations to assess participants’ satisfaction, enthusiasm, and conceptual understanding. The results indicated a high level of participant satisfaction (90%), an increase in biodiversity understanding (88%), and strong interest in the use of preserved specimens as instructional media. Overall, the program effectively improved students’ practical skills, environmental awareness, and contextual learning experiences in biology within a non-formal education setting.

Abstract

Tete Batu Village is one of the villages that was developed into a Desa Wisata (vourism village) in Lombok Timur regency, West Nusa Tenggara province. To support this program, the regency government launched the Kampung Inggris Tete Batu (KITB) program. However, KITB program has not run optimally as the capacity lack of the program’s operators in term of tutors’ ability to implement learning method and evaluation system as well as the inappropriately management program. Therefore, in general this community service activity using the Asset Based Communities Development (ABCD) method is aimed to support the community independence in this case KITB to carry out good English course. Specifically, the community service is pointed to strengthen the capacity of English tutors and course management through KITB program in supporting tourism in Tete Batu village, Lombok Timur Regency. This community service activities are held through Focus Group Discussion (FGD), materials delivering related to curriculum development and learning materials as well as reflection. The results of this community service indicate an increasing understanding toward the importance of curriculum and appropriate material development in the KITB management as well as a simple analysis of weaknesses, and opportunities for institutional development

Abstract

Desa Sriwulan sebagai jalur utama wisata Kali Kesek menghadapi persoalan limbah rumah tangga berupa minyak jelantah yang berpotensi merusak lingkungan dan citra desa wisata. Kelompok PKK sebagai garda terdepan pengelolaan limbah rumah tangga belum memiliki keterampilan mengolah jelantah menjadi produk bernilai ekonomi. Program ini bertujuan memberdayakan PKK melalui peningkatan pengetahuan tentang dampak jelantah, konsep ekonomi sirkular, dan teknologi tepat guna, serta meningkatkan keterampilan teknis peserta dalam pembuatan lilin Aqualume berbasis praktik langsung. Sebanyak 13 peserta dilatih mengolah 350 ml jelantah menjadi tujuh unit suvenir ramah lingkungan bernilai estetis sebagai produk kreatif pendukung desa wisata. Metode menggunakan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) melalui pemetaan kebutuhan, perancangan teknologi, dan lokakarya praktik. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan pre-test dan post-test serta observasi kualitas produk. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan skor rata-rata dari 40,00 menjadi 100,00 dengan N-Gain 1,00 (kategori tinggi). Seluruh peserta menguasai teknik penjernihan dan formulasi produk, menunjukkan model ADDIE efektif untuk transfer teknologi dan penguatan inovasi ekonomi sirkular masyarakat. Realization of Waste Cooking Oil Recycling: ADDIE Model-Based Workshop Through Aqualume Candle Innovation as an Effort to Empower Women's Cooperative Groups in Sriwulan Village, Kendal Regency Sriwulan Village, the main access route to Kali Kesek tourism, faces household waste management challenges, particularly used cooking oil that threatens environmental quality and the village’s tourism image. The PKK women’s group, as the frontline household waste managers, still lacks the skills to convert used oil into value-added products. This program aims to empower the PKK group by increasing knowledge of used oil impacts, circular economy principles, and appropriate technology, while improving participants’ technical skills through hands-on training in producing Aqualume candles. A total of 13 participants were trained to process 350 ml of used cooking oil into seven aesthetically valuable, eco-friendly souvenir products to support creative tourism-based enterprises. The program applied the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), including needs assessment, technology design, and practical workshops. Evaluation used pre-test and post-test instruments and product observation. Results showed a significant improvement in average scores from 40.00 to 100.00, with an N-Gain of 1.00 (high category). All participants mastered oil purification and candle formulation, confirming ADDIE’s effectiveness for community technology transfer and circular economy innovation.

Abstract

Pendidikan seksual yang minim pada tingkat sekolah dasar meningkatkan kerentanan anak terhadap pelecehan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memberikan edukasi batasan diri (self-boundaries) kepada siswa SDN 1 Sengkerang guna meminimalisir risiko perlakuan negatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi interaktif berbasis teori psikoseksual Sigmund Freud, yang difokuskan pada fase laten (usia 6–12 tahun) di mana energi psikis anak dialihkan pada pengembangan sosial dan moral. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan perubahan konkret pada pemahaman siswa; mereka kini mampu mengidentifikasi empat area tubuh pribadi yang bersifat rahasia serta secara tegas membedakan antara sentuhan aman dan sentuhan tidak aman. Dampak langsung terlihat saat siswa mampu mempraktikkan respons protektif, seperti berteriak "tidak" dan segera melapor saat simulasi situasi mencurigakan dilakukan. Pendekatan ini terbukti efektif karena selaras dengan tahap perkembangan psikologis siswa yang mengutamakan penguatan norma sosial. Sebagai rekomendasi, pihak sekolah perlu mengintegrasikan materi batasan diri ini ke dalam kurikulum bimbingan konseling secara berkala dan memperkuat kolaborasi dengan orang tua untuk memastikan lingkungan perlindungan anak yang berkelanjutan. Socialization of Building Self-Boundaries in Public Elementary School Students  Minimal sexual education at the primary school level increases children's vulnerability to abuse. This service activity aims to provide self-boundaries education to SDN 1 Sengkerang students to minimize the risk of negative treatment. The method used is interactive socialization based on Sigmund Freud's psychosexual theory, which focuses on the latent phase (age 6–12 years) in which the child's psychic energy is diverted to social and moral development. The results of the activity show concrete changes in student understanding; They are now able to identify four confidential areas of the private body and clearly distinguish between safe touch and unsafe touch. The immediate impact is seen when students are able to practice protective responses, such as shouting "no" and immediately reporting when simulating a suspicious situation is carried out. This approach has proven to be effective because it is in line with the stages of students' psychological development that prioritizes strengthening social norms. As a recommendation, schools need to integrate this self-restraint material into the counseling guidance curriculum on a regular basis and strengthen collaboration with parents to ensure a sustainable child protection environment.
