Abstract

Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PE) plays an important role in supporting students' physical, mental, and social development; however, in practice it is still frequently regarded as a secondary subject compared to academic subjects. This study aims to analyze teachers' and parents' perceptions of the importance of PE in school learning and to identify whether there are differences in perception between both groups. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design, involving 60 respondents consisting of 30 teachers and 30 parents selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was a closed questionnaire with a Likert scale, while data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics and an independent sample t-test. The results showed thatboth teachers' and parents' perceptions of the importance of PE were in the positive category, with teachers' mean scores higher than those of parents. However, the t-test results indicated no significant difference between the two groups. These findings suggest that teachers and parents fundamentally share relatively aligned views regarding the urgency of PE in learning. Thus, this study concludes that although descriptive differences exist, the shared perceptions between teachers and parents open opportunities to strengthen collaboration in supporting PE learning in schools more optimally.

Abstract

In the sport of football, athletes often experience a decrease in self-confidence when facing match pressure or after making mistakes, such as failing in passing, losing the ball, or failing to score a goal. This condition can lead to a decline in the athlete's performance and hesitation in making decisions on the field. One psychological technique to overcome this problem is the self-talk technique, which is an individual's ability to give instructions or suggestions to themselves. This study aims to examine the effect of applying the self-talk technique in increasing the self-confidence of football athletes. An experimental method with a pretest-posttest design was used in this study involving 25 football athletes from the Indonesia University of Education. The instrument used was a self-confidence questionnaire administered before and after the self-talk treatment over one week. Data analysis was conducted using statistical tests with the help of SPSS. The study results showed an increase in the athletes' self-confidence levels after being given self-talk treatment, as indicated by the difference in scores between the pretest and posttest. This study concluded that the self-talk technique has an effect on improving the self-confidence of football athletes.training can be systematically designed to foster optimal athletic mindsets.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the practice of academic supervision carried out by school principals with non-linear educational backgrounds (non-PE) in developing the competence of Physical Education (PE) teachers at junior high schools (SMP) in Sumedang Regency. Supervision is a key instrument for keeping the quality of learning at a high level, however, the application of supervision in PE is often limited by the technical limitations of supervisors in grasping the substance of movement and sports pedagogy in the field. Qualitative data were obtained through case study designs, through in-depth interviews, observations and documentation studies in schools that have the characteristics of urban and rural areas.  The results of the analysis processed by NVivo software indicate that principal supervision is organized in four main dimensions, namely, planning, implementation, interaction dynamics, and performance impact. The findings suggest that while supervision contributes positively to the development of teachers’ pedagogical and professional competencies, its effectiveness is still limited by the dominance of one-way communication, overly generalized assessment instruments and a lack of sustainable follow-up. This study points to the need for a more collaborative and adaptive approach to clinical supervision to close the technical competency gap between principals and teachers . The novelty of this study is to provide a substantive assessment model to enable non-linear supervisors to still be able to promote teacher professionalism without need of profound technical expertise in sports.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of anti-doping regulations from a sports law perspective and to assess the effectiveness of harmonization through the World Anti-Doping Code in ensuring procedural and substantive justice for athletes across jurisdictions. The study employs a normative legal approach with an analytical-critical orientation through an examination of the World Anti-Doping Code, the 2005 UNESCO Convention, and various national regulations that have adopted them. A conceptual approach is applied to examine the theories of polycentric regulation, legal legitimacy, and procedural justice, while a comparative approach is used to test the consistency of implementation across nations. The research findings indicate that the global anti-doping regime has evolved into a hybrid model integrating lex sportiva and international public law, resulting in formal harmonization of testing standards, evidentiary rules, and sanctions. However, significant implementation gaps exist, particularly regarding institutional capacity, access to legal aid, and the speed of dispute resolution, which impact the protection of athletes’ rights and the perceived legitimacy of the system. The study’s conclusions emphasize that normative harmonization does not yet fully align with substantive justice; therefore, strengthening national capacity and implementing policy reforms that are more responsive to social and political contexts are necessary to ensure equitable protection of athletes’ rights globally.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a match scenario-based mental training model (MLMBSP) to improve decision making and mental toughness of sepak takraw athletes in preparation for the 2026 Central Java PORPROV. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Thirty sepak takraw athletes from various regions in Central Java participated as research subjects. Research instruments included expert validation sheets, decision making questionnaires, mental toughness questionnaires, and model practicality questionnaires. Expert validation results showed average scores of 4.06 (Decision Making), 4.06 (Mental Toughness), 3.84 (DM Rubric), 4.00 (MT Rubric), 4.34 (DM Questionnaire), 4.19 (MT Questionnaire), and 4.59 (MLMBSP Model), categorized as valid to very valid. Practicality test results showed an average score of 4.44 categorized as very practical. Pre-test and post-test data demonstrated improvement in decision making from moderate (mean 3.06) to high (mean 3.99), and mental toughness from moderate (mean 2.79) to high (mean 4.20). The model comprises three main scenarios: (1) tight score 13-13, (2) comeback from deficit 5-12, and (3) facing opponent's match point, integrated with imagery and self-talk techniques. This study contributes significantly to the development of a more holistic and psychologically oriented sepak takraw athlete training model

Abstract

The  game  of Volleyball  is  one  of  the  sports  that  is  widely  taught  in  schools  and developed competitively. One of the basic techniques that plays an important role in  the  game  of  volleyball  is  serve,  which  consists  of  an  upper  serve  and  a  lower serve.  Concentration  is a  psychological  factor  that  is  suspected  to  affect  the accuracy  of  the  serve  because  the  player  must  be  able  to  coordinate  body movements,  regulate  the  power  of  the  shot,  and  direct  the  ball  to  the  target precisely.  This  study  aims  to  determinethe  relationship  between  concentration and the accuracy of the upper serve and the bottom serve in the game of volleyball. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with a correlational design. The research sample consisted of 15 extracurricular volleyball male athletes of SMAN 10   Bandung   who   were   selected   using   purposive   sampling   techniques.   The instruments used are the Grid Concentration Test (GCT) to measure concentration and  AAHPER  Serving  Accuracy  Test  to  measure  service  accuracy.  The  data  wasanalyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results showed that the relationship between concentration and bottom service accuracy was very low  and  insignificant  (r  =  0.125;  p  =  0.657).  Meanwhile,  the  association  between concentration and   upper   serve   accuracy   showed   a   stronger,   but   also   less statistically  significant  correlation  (r  =  0.480;  p  =  0.070).  The  determination coefficient  (R²  =  0.231)  showed  that  concentration  contributed  23.1%  to  the variation in service accuracy. It was concluded that concentration tends to have a greater role in the upper serve than the lower serve due to its higher complexity of  motion.  However,  no  statistically  significant  relationship  was  found  between concentration and service accuracy in this study sample.

Abstract

Doping is a serious problem in the world of sports that can undermine sportsmanship, health, and the integrity of athletes. College athletes’ limited understanding of banned substances and the lack of anti-doping education increase the risk of doping violations, whether intentional or unintentional. This study aims to determine the effect of anti-doping education on the knowledge and attitudes of Unsika volleyball club athletes. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method through a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The study sample consisted of 30 athletes selected using total sampling. Data collection was conducted using a knowledge test and an attitude questionnaire, followed by analysis using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Paired Sample T-Test. The results showed an increase in the mean score from 58.70 in the pretest to 82.67 in the posttest. The results of the Paired Sample T-Test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of anti-doping education on athletes’ knowledge and attitudes. Thus, anti-doping education has proven effective in enhancing athletes’ understanding and fostering positive attitudes toward the importance of sportsmanship and doping-free sports.

Abstract

Supporter chant support is one of the external factors that can influence an athlete's mental state, especially in soccer (Abdullah et al., 2016). Chant provided during a match can create an atmosphere that influences an athlete's level of self-confidence. This study aims to determine the role of supporter chant support on the self-confidence of senior soccer athletes during matches. The method used in this study is descriptive with a quantitative approach, involving 23 soccer athletes competing in the Indonesian professional league. The instrument used for data collection was a Likert scale questionnaire, consisting of 71 questions to measure the level of supporter chant support and self-confidence indicators administered once to the sample. After the data was obtained, the data were analyzed using the SPSS 25 correlation test. The results showed a significant relationship between supporter chant support and soccer athletes during matches. This study concluded that supporter chants play an important role in increasing soccer athletes' self-confidence, thus supporting their performance to improve externally. Therefore, the researcher recommends that supporters continue to provide positive support through positive chants to build an athlete's self-confidence during matches.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of shuttle run and zig-zag run training on improving the speed of the crescent kick among pencak silat athletes at SMP Negeri 1 Bawang. Crescent kick speed enhances attack effectiveness in pencak silat. This study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test post-test model. The study population consisted of all pencak silat athletes at SMP Negeri 1 Bawang who actively participated in train-ing activities. Total sampling was used (N=8), divided into two groups: the shuttle run training group and the zig-zag run training group. Data collection was con-ducted using a crescent kick speed test through pre-test and post-test admin-istrations. Data analysis was performed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and the Independent Samples t-test with the assistance of SPSS software. The results showed a significance value of 0.003 (<0.05), indicating a significant dif-ference in the effects of shuttle run training and zig-zag run training on the cres-cent kick speed of pencak silat athletes. Shuttle run training was proven to yield higher improvements compared to zig-zag run training. Thus, shuttle run training is more effective for improving the crescent kick speed of student-aged pencak silat athletes.
