Aims (Tujuan) Jurnal Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Missio bertujuan untuk menjadi wadah ilmiah yang memfasilitasi publikasi hasil penelitian, kajian teoretis, dan praktik terbaik di bidang pendidikan dan kebudayaan. Abstract

English for Mathematics (EFM) is one of the important courses to prepare the prospective mathematics teacher in teaching mathematics using English as language of instruction. Besides that, EFM also enable the students in mathematics education department to employ more references as learning sources. Reflected to the important of students’ ability in EFM, we plan to develop the textbook related to the course. The whole study will use the method of Research & Development with three steps of Preliminary Research, Prototyping Stage dan Assessment Phase. The present study was focused on the first stage to analysis the needs of the textbook development. The subjects were 27 students of second year mathematics education study program in a state university in Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia. The subjects were experienced the course of EFM in previous year. The data were gathered from students’ written work and interview with students and lecturers of EFM. We analyzed the data using quantitative descriptive method to evaluate the students’ mastery in EFM. From the analysis, it was found that the students’ score were lacking in mathematical terms and spoken language of mathematical symbols. The interview with the lecturers also confirmed that the learning sources in EFM is still limited. Therefore, to support the students in learning EFM better, the textbook is highly needed.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the needs analysis of the mathematics learning outcomes test characterized by HOTS (higher-order thinking skills) in the form of multiple-choice for fifth-grade students in Singaraja City, Buleleng Regency, Bali Province. This research was conducted at several elementary schools in the city of Singaraja. The study population was all elementary school mathematics teachers in Singaraja City. The sample used was a purposive sample, that was, by determining respondents from selected schools based on several characteristics. These characteristics were A) inside and outside the city, B) favorite and non-favorite, C) public and private, and D) public and Muslim. The samples obtained were 7 (seven) elementary schools. The data collection method was a questionnaire method. The questionnaire in this study produced both quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data in the form of nominal data from responses “yes” and “no”, while qualitative data in the form of comments based on responses “yes” or “no” provided. This was done by researchers in order to draw stronger and more complete conclusions. Quantitative data analysis techniques used descriptive statistics, while qualitative data analysis techniques use descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the study, it could be concluded that the teacher requires an elementary mathematics learning achievement test characterized by HOTS. The results of this study were used to develop a mathematics learning outcomes test characterized by HOTS in the form of multiple choice.

Abstract

Inclussive education means that all students including child with special needs attend, participate, and learn in inclussive schools with normal students without considering each disabilities. The aim of this article is to describe the importance of inclusive education for child with special needs, because the reality shows to us that many students with special needs often times did not get the same educational treatment fairly like normal students. This article helps people open the understanding and horisan of the right of every citizen especially child with special needs to get the same education with normal students. In order to reach out this aim, the writer applies library research method in which he reads and writes the material related to this topic from the articles, journals, and books. The results of the study pointed out that some parents and the socities did not undertand much the urgency of inclusive education for child with special needs. Therefore, child with special needs often time did not get the same right in relation to education like normal childen.

Abstract

Local script is one of the local wisdoms that must be preserved. Primary school education plays an important role in the preservation of local writing. This study aims to determine the perception of prospective elementary school teachers towards the preservation of local writing. the intended local writing is the Sasambo script in NTB. This research uses a combined method. Data collection using questionnaires and interviews. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Interview results were analyzed qualitatively. This study involved the University of Mataram PGSD students as respondents. The problems studied include: how is the motivation of prospective teachers in preserving local writing? What do prospective teachers do in preserving local writing? What are the difficulties experienced by prospective teachers in preserving local writing? The results showed that the motivation of prospective elementary school teachers in preserving local writing was still quite high. However, prospective teachers have difficulty in preserving local writing. Difficulties faced by prospective teachers include: local writing is rarely used, low community interest in learning, lack of teachers, lack of facilities and infrastructure, lack of literature, low awareness and low literacy. Efforts to preserve local writing by prospective elementary school teachers include: studying local writing, conducting training, and holding competitions. Local writing preservation programs in NTB need attention. The attention of prospective teachers, the government and the community can save local writing from extinction

Abstract

This article was compiled based on the results of a study aimed at knowing and understanding the Strategy to Face the Challenges of Global Cultural Flow through Cultural Education Based on Culture. This study uses a qualitative method. Data obtained through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study, in a natural setting. Data analysis was carried out through three activities simultaneously, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions or verification. The results of the study indicate that the world of education is currently facing the challenges of global cultural currents, namely the process and system of economic expansion of a transnational free market economy that has penetrated into various fields of life such as politics, religion, socio-culture, including education. In the era of openness marked by the dynamics of local, national, and global communities that have the potential to cause various impacts it is impossible to avoid. Therefore, it is important for a nation to have character and identity in the face of global cultural currents, in order to remain firmly established on the noble values ??of the nation's culture. Culture-based character education can be used as an educational strategy and symbolic investment strategy accompanied by efforts to create a conducive social environment through a tri center of education (family, school, and community). Reviving local cultural values ??in certain packages is one cultural approach to empowerment. Thus the revitalization of local cultural values ??in the era of globalization plays an important role. This needs to be done considering the cultural behavior among children and adolescents has begun to change along with the growing pressure of global cultural currents.

Abstract

James W. Fowler is the originator of the Stages of Faith Theory. The level of faith development based on research conducted by Fowler is the structure, stages of faith development, and aspects that support so that every religious person does not stop at a low level of faith but can rise at a higher level and produce more mature humans . One of the targets of Fowler's research is adolescents. Teenagers are the age where children start trying to find their identity. Teen age is also a potential age in its development, both in terms of cognitive, emotional, and physical aspects. In addition, children at this age have a very high curiosity, one of which they begin to find out about the truth of the faith or beliefs that have been believed. Therefore, the perfect time to provide religious education at adolescence, so as to increase the development of adolescent faith to a higher stage so that they have an increasingly mature life and can also be responsible for the faith he has believed both for himself and for those who people around him. For that reason, in this article the author will discuss the stages of faith development, especially in adolescents according to the theory of James W. Fowler and their implications for Christian religious education in families, schools, and churches.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ellipsis construction or removal of language elements in the discourse about corana virus diseases (Covid-19) in the Kompas newspaper opinion column. The discourses analyzed were sourced from Kompas opinions published from March to April 2020. The method used in data collection was the refer to method (read), which was applied through the note taking technique. The stages of data collection in this study, namely the inventory, identification and classification of data. The method of data analysis in this study is the agih method, which is applied with the technique of fade and replace for direct elements. Stages of data analysis in this study, namely reduction, interpretation, presentation, and discussion of the results of data analysis. The results of this research data analysis show that the ellipsis construction in the discourse about Covid-19 in the Kompas newspaper opinion column consists of the subject ellipsis, the subject ellipsis as well as the predicate, and the object ellipsis in equivalent (coordinative) compound sentences. Meanwhile, the ellipsis compound compound (subordinate) occurs in the function of the subject, both in the child clause (clause) and in the parent clause (parent sentence). Both in equivalent compound sentences and in multilevel compound sentences, the elements in each function are written in words both cataphoric and anaphoric.

Abstract

This article is a theoretical study of Vygotsky's idea of zone of proximal development. Its aimed at finding out of its relevance to contemporary educational practices that are increasingly complex. Through the description of the background of the emergence of this idea the author concludes that the idea of zone of proximal development is still relevant in modern education, especially to support the educational practices that are friendly toward student’s individual differences at school. Vygotsky's criticism of the practice of levering in schooling is a warning for teachers and education practicioners to consider learning interventions based on individual students' backgrounds especially their mental development differences so that education can be an effective medium to help children's growth and development optimally.

Abstract

Religious Education and Character Education are two important fields that function to shape the students. As important activities, both can offer solutions to problems faced by students. Both can also be the key to opening the deadlock for the actualization of their potential. This paper discusses efforts to educate the character of children through Catholic Religious Education in Elementary School. The discussion is based on the awareness that with good character children will grow and develop optimally. Children will be able to contribute to human civilization and the welfare of society. This paper is done by applying a literature study. The author studies literature about Catholic religious education in elementary schools and about character education. Specifically, the author examines the formulation of core competencies and basic competencies of Catholic Religious Education. The core competencies are divided into four aspects, namely the core competencies of spiritual attitudes, social attitudes, knowledge, and skills. The formulation of core competencies contains values ??which according to the author are the same and in line with the values ??of Character Education. These values ??include religious values, honesty, courtesy, fairness, responsibility, respect, confidence, love of truth, logical, critical, creative, innovative, love of nation. These values ??can be classified in moral knowledge, moral feelings, and moral conduct. Can also be grouped in the value of a relationship with God, with oneself, with others, and with nature. Similarly, it can be divided into individual, social, and moral values. The author concludes that Religious Education has a major contribution to the formation of children's character

Abstract

The students learning outcomes on protista material is still below the minimum completeness criteria. This is caused by the lack of application of learning methods and unattractive media. The use of media in learning as a tool to submit the material and create effective and efficient learning activities so as to increase students interest and learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to increase the motivation and cognitive learning outcomes of students with the scientific approach method assisted by power point media at SMAN 1 Bola. This type of research is a classroom action which consists of two cycles. The type of data in this study are qualitative and quantitative. The results of first cycle obtained the completeness of the learning outcomes test with an average of 79,2% and students activities were in the quite good category of 79,4%. The average completeness of learning outcomes in the second cycle was 85,1%. With reference to the KKM (Keriteria Minimum completeness) which is 75. The conclusion obtained in this study is the application of a scientific approach assisted by power point media can improve the motivation and learning outcomes of students of class X at SMAN 1 Bola
