Abstract

This study addresses the persistent challenge of low Arabic reading comprehension (maharah qira’ah) among tenth-grade students at Madrasah Aliyah, a problem rooted in monotonous instructional methods and students’ limited exposure to interactive learning tools. The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of Liveworksheets as an interactive web-based medium in improving students’ Arabic reading skills and to examine student responses toward its implementation. A gap identified in prior studies is that while digital tools have been explored in general Arabic learning, their specific application to developing maharah qira’ah through a collaborative classroom action research design remains underexplored. This study offers a novel contribution by integrating Liveworksheets within a two-cycle Classroom Action Research (CAR) framework following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, employing both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests, structured classroom observations, and student response questionnaires. Findings demonstrate a significant improvement in classical learning mastery: from 52.7% in the pre-cycle with a mean score of 69.7, rising to 72.2% (mean: 76.6) in Cycle I, and reaching 86.1% (mean: 82.8) in Cycle II, surpassing the minimum classical mastery threshold of 85%. Student engagement, motivation, and confidence also increased substantially across cycles. This research contributes empirical evidence that Liveworksheets, particularly when implemented with a collaborative strategy, constitutes an effective and replicable model for enhancing Arabic reading instruction in Islamic secondary education contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Arabic grammar teaching materials based on the Matan Jurumiyah textbook using an inductive approach, as well as to test their validity and effectiveness in improving students’ Arabic grammar skills. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) based on the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were first-grade students at the Madrasah Diniyah in the Hidayatul Qurro’ Islamic Boarding School in Blitar. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests (pretest and posttest), then analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods. The results showed that the developed teaching materials had a very high level of validity, with a score of 83% from media experts and 84% from content experts. Student responses to the teaching materials fell into the categories of “very interesting” and “highly needed.” Effectiveness testing showed a significant improvement in students’ grammar skills, as evidenced by an increase in the average score from 30.83 on the pretest to 80.83 on the posttest, with an N-gain value of 0.71, which falls into the moderate to high category. Thus, the Matan Jurumiyah-based Nahwu teaching materials using an inductive approach have been proven to be valid, engaging, and effective in improving students’ Arabic grammar skills, making them suitable for use in Nahwu instruction within Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study addresses the problem of how hidden emotional patterns operate within literary characters shaped by collective trauma, particularly in Ghassan Kanafani’s ʿĀʾid ilā Ḥayfā. It aims to analyze the forms and dynamics of these latent emotions in the characters of Said and Safiyya through Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic framework. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, using intensive reading and systematic note-taking to interpret narrative elements and psychological expressions within the text. The findings reveal that trauma is manifested through the structural interaction of the Id, Ego, and Superego. Said demonstrates a dominant Ego pattern, rationalizing instinctive impulses and moral pressures into ideological reasoning. In contrast, Safiyya reflects an Ego collapse marked by panic, which is ultimately stabilized by the Superego through maternal responsibility. These dynamics illustrate the internal struggle between personal desire, moral obligation, and historical burden. The study contributes to literary criticism by offering a psychoanalytic interpretation of post-Nakba identity formation and highlighting how individual psychological conflict mirrors broader collective fragmentation in Palestinian society.
