Abstract

Anemia is a significant health problem among adolescent girls, mainly due to increased iron demand during growth and menstruation. SKI data in 2023 states that the prevalence of teenage anemia is 21%. This service aims to reduce the prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls through the socialization of the CARE Application (Prevent Teenage Anemia) and the provision of blood supplement tablets at MTsN Pangkep. This activity involved 60 female students as participants, with methods that included health education through videos, hemoglobin checks, anthropometric measurements (weight, height, upper arm circumference), and distribution of blood supplement tablets by the local Puskesmas. The community service team acted as facilitators, with support from UKS teachers and Puskesmas health workers. The results showed that the structured and collaborative approach effectively increased understanding of anemia and improved adolescent girls' health status. The activity also strengthened health literacy among participants, which may contribute to a long-term reduction in anemia prevalence. In conclusion, multifaceted interventions that combine health education and nutritional supplementation are essential in preventing anemia in adolescent girls and need to be implemented more widely in other school settings to achieve a more significant impact.

Abstract

Stunting is a global health issue that significantly impacts a country's well-being. Community empowerment, particularly through the role of posyandu (integrated health post) cadres and mothers of young children, is crucial in stunting prevention efforts. This community service program aimed to prevent stunting by educating the community using a health information pocketbook written in the local Suroboyoan language. Conducted in RW 5, Pacar Kembang Subdistrict, Surabaya, the program was attended by 30 participants, including posyandu cadres, pregnant women, and mothers of young children. The Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method was implemented through socialization and interactive discussions. The program successfully increased the participants' average knowledge score from a pre-test score of 69.7 ± 15.19 to a post-test score of 86.7 ± 9.58, with a p-value of 0.000 (Wilcoxon test), indicating a statistically significant improvement. The use of a pocketbook based on the local language proved effective in enhancing participants' understanding of stunting prevention. This approach is not only locally relevant but also has the potential to be replicated in other areas with cultural adaptations. Additionally, this model can be integrated into community health programs to support sustainable efforts in stunting prevention and improving public health literacy.

Abstract

There is an increasing number of cases of children with type 1 diabetes in the community, especially in the Greater Bandung area and Cimahi City, there are 50 children with diabetes who need special treatment. The InKoLa (Information, Communication and Governance) model is a sustainable care model that has been empirically proven to improve the quality of life of children with diabetes and control blood sugar. The purpose of implementing the InKoLa Model is to improve the ability and independence of parents in caring for children and improve the ability of teachers/school parties to assist children at school and provide optimal health services by Puskesmas health workers. This model was implemented using training/education and mentoring methods in partner areas with a target group of 30 children and parents, 10 teachers/school officials and 12 Puskesmas health workers. The increase in parents' knowledge in the good category by 43.3%, high self-efficacy increased by 43.5%; UKS teacher knowledge in the good category increased by 40% and high self-efficacy increased by 40%. Children's knowledge in the good category increased by 42.6% and self-efficacy increased by 60%.  The meeting resulted in a common perception and commitment to bring optimal information, communication and governance at home and school. The INKOLA model was implemented to manage children with type 1 diabetes in the community. It is recommended that the Health Office and Puskesmas use the InKoLa model to manage children with type 1 diabetes in the community.
