Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of PKBI Semarang City in increasing awareness of reproductive and sexual health in the transgender community. The study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, through in-depth interviews with two PKBI field officers and two beneficiaries (transvestites). The results of the study showed that the community-based approach carried out by PKBI, such as implementing education through community forums, mobile VCT services, distributing condoms and lubricants, and providing PrEP, succeeded in building trust and increasing awareness of transgender people regarding the importance of maintaining sexual health. Beneficiaries showed positive behavioral changes such as the use of protective equipment, participation in HIV testing, and increased understanding of sexual health. However, challenges in the form of social stigma and discrimination are still significant obstacles. This study emphasizes the importance of a participatory and inclusive approach in sexual health interventions for marginalized groups and encourages the need for public education to create a more supportive social environment.

Abstract

The massive use of social media by Generation Z has a significant impact on their mental health, particularly in triggering anxiety disorders. Generation Z, born and raised in the digital era, has a high level of attachment to social media, which is often used compulsively as a means of escape, a pursuit of social validation, and due to the addictive design of these platforms. This dependency can lead to various forms of anxiety disorders, such as social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder, and panic attacks. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) in addressing anxiety disorders caused by social media addiction among Generation Z through a literature review approach. The findings indicate that MBCT, which combines mindfulness and cognitive therapy, is effective in reducing anxiety symptoms, improving emotional regulation, and enhancing self-awareness among adolescents. The MBCT intervention is conducted over eight sessions, incorporating techniques such as breath meditation, thought observation, identification of negative thinking patterns, and strengthening awareness of emotional experiences. Literature findings suggest that MBCT is not only effective in clinical settings but can also be flexibly applied in educational environments and digital communities, making it a potential preventive and curative strategy for tackling the mental health crisis in the digital era. The success of this intervention is supported by active participant engagement as well as contextual support from trained facilitators and social environments aligned with Generation Z’s characteristics.

Abstract

Academic procrastination is a prevalent issue among university students, often leading to reduced academic performance and increased stress. This study aims to explore how self-regulation strategies are utilized by students to minimize procrastination, particularly in the context of completing academic assignments. Using a qualitative case study approach, five final-year university students were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically. The findings reveal that while the respondents acknowledged their tendency to delay tasks, they engaged in various self-regulation efforts such as task segmentation, time management, and motivational self-talk to overcome procrastination. Environmental distractions, especially social media, and emotional fatigue were identified as key challenges. However, students reported strategies like setting personal deadlines, adjusting study environments, and focusing on long-term goals to stay on track. This study highlights the critical role of self-regulation in managing procrastination and suggests that universities should provide structured support systems, such as self-regulation training and academic mentoring, to help students develop more effective learning habits.

Abstract

In the digital era, social media has become the most important tool for people. One of them is Instagram, which provides a space to share information to become a place for self-disclosure. This encourages many users to have a second account on Instagram, to display things that cannot be uploaded on the main account. This research aims to find out how the use of a second Instagram account becomes a form of self-disclosure for students at Karangturi National University Semarang. This research uses a qualitative method with a total of 4 informants. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews and observation of posts on the accounts of both students. The results showed that students of Karangturi National University use a second account to reveal themselves only to selected people, such as family or close friends. They are more open when uploading various photos and videos of their daily lives, pour out their hearts openly, and feel safe if they have to reveal another side of themselves on the second account.

Abstract

Female inmates in correctional institutions often experience severe psychological pressure, particularly in the form of negative emotions such as anxiety, anger, guilt, and despair. If left unaddressed, these conditions can hinder rehabilitation and personal development. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on restructuring maladaptive thoughts and behaviors. This study explores the effectiveness of CBT in managing negative emotions among female inmates using a qualitative case study approach. Fourteen participants joined group counseling sessions, while three individuals received focused CBT interventions such as emotional journaling, guided discovery, self-affirmation, and cognitive restructuring. The findings indicate significant improvements in emotional expression, reduced self-harming tendencies, and increased awareness of negative automatic thoughts. Supportive activities such as art therapy and reflective discussions strengthened the recovery process. The effectiveness of CBT was enhanced by active participant engagement, spiritual integration, and social support from the correctional environment. CBT has proven to provide a safe space for inmates to reconstruct their self-meaning and develop sustainable emotional regulation skills. Therefore, integrating CBT into rehabilitation programs for female inmates is highly recommended to enhance psychological well-being and social reintegration readiness.

Abstract

This study systematically reviews the relationship between empathy both cognitive and affective and cyberbullying in publications from 2020 to 2024. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. Searches in Google Scholar and Scopus using the keyword “cyber empathy” yielded 271 articles; eight empirical studies met the inclusion criteria of topic relevance, scholarly type, and publication year. The synthesis shows that empathy consistently functions as a protective factor, reducing involvement in cyberbullying as either perpetrator or victim. Cognitive empathy demonstrates a stronger preventive influence than affective empathy, underscoring the importance of perspective-taking in limiting online aggression. Additional variables such as moral disengagement, family support, and self-regulation emerge as mediators or moderators, enriching the theoretical understanding of empathy in digital contexts. The novelty of this review lies in its cross-cultural scope, covering studies from Germany, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea, Costa Rica, Iran, and Turkey, which are rarely examined in recent reviews. These findings provide an empirical foundation for empathy-based interventions, including cognitive perspective-taking training and family engagement, while informing digital literacy policies and school character education. Strengthening digital empathy is therefore a key strategy to prevent cyberbullying across diverse cultures.

Abstract

This study systematically reviews the interplay between digital grief and mental health outcomes in Generations Z and Alpha, focusing on publications from 2018 to 2025. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted adhering to PRISMA guidelines. Searches on Google Scholar and Scopus using keywords such as “digital grief,” “online mourning,” and “mental health” yielded 412 articles, with 10 empirical studies meeting the inclusion criteria of topic relevance, clear adolescent or young adult samples (Gen Z and Alpha), quantitative or mixed-method approaches, and non-COVID-19 contexts. The synthesis reveals that digital platforms, including social media and online support groups, serve as both facilitators and inhibitors of grief processing. Online support groups and therapeutic interventions significantly reduce prolonged grief, depression, and anxiety, particularly for Gen Z, with effect sizes ranging from moderate to large (Cohen’s d=0.80–1.03). However, public expressions of grief on social media, such as memorial posts, can exacerbate distress and rumination, especially when perceived as performative. Key mediators include privacy concerns, social support availability, and digital literacy. The novelty of this review lies in its focus on Generations Z and Alpha, understudied cohorts in digital grief research, with studies spanning diverse contexts (e.g., Italy, Philippines, Sweden, USA). These findings underscore the dual role of digital platforms in shaping mental health outcomes and provide an empirical basis for tailored interventions, such as digital-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and privacy education, to support healthy grief processing in young populations.

Abstract

This study systematically analyzes the crucial role of Parental Social Support (PSS) as a catalyst in fostering students' Growth Mindset towards Mathematics. Mathematics is often perceived as a subject measuring innate talent (Fixed Mindset), which is a major inhibitor of student motivation and achievement. Utilizing a literature review methodology, findings confirm that PSS not only correlates positively with Mathematics performance but also functions qualitatively. Appropriate emotional support from parents enables students to transform failure into constructive feedback, directly fostering Academic Buoyancy and Academic Resilience. Furthermore, effective PSS must manifest as Perceived Parental Autonomy Support, which acts as a key moderator factor. This Autonomy Support ensures students internalize the Growth Mindset by focusing on effort and strategies (Process-Based Praise) rather than solely on final results or innate ability. The main conclusion is that PSS directed at autonomy and process is a vital prerequisite for creating a Mathematics learning ecosystem capable of overcoming the stigma of difficulty and enhancing sustained Student Engagement.
