Abstract

In modern industrial production systems, ergonomics training is essential for balancing productivity demands with worker health. For example, 36–50% of Indonesian manufacturing workers report work-related musculoskeletal complaints (e.g., 55.36% prevalence of back/neck pain). This study investigates an integrative ergonomics education intervention, combining anthropometry, biomechanics, and cognitive psychology principles. Using a quantitative experimental design, industrial workers attended a webinar consisting of theoretical and hands-on sessions on ergonomic principles. Post-training assessments show that the intervention reduced musculoskeletal complaints by 42.92% and increased production capacity by 40.03%. Ergonomic workstation redesign further improved overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) from 61.2% to 77.9%. Additionally, ergonomic lifting training on a production line cut process errors by 30%, raising first-pass yield from 63% to 93%. Kirkpatrick evaluation (reaction and behavior levels) revealed that 66.7% of participants reported high satisfaction and 85% sustained ergonomic behavior adoption after three months. By targeting both physical and cognitive job demands, the training aligns with lean production principles and promotes sustainable efficiency gains. The intervention also achieved a 1:4.2 return on investment and a 35% reduction in musculoskeletal injury costs. These findings demonstrate that evidence-based ergonomics training can substantially improve worker health and production efficiency, providing a multidisciplinary framework that bridges classical ergonomics theory with Industry 4.0 challenges.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has pushed Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) to adapt by implementing digital marketing strategies. Kilo Kalori, a culinary-based MSME, faces several challenges in optimizing its website and utilizing digital marketing effectively. The main problems include limited knowledge of digital promotion, lack of quality promotional content, and suboptimal website management. This community service program aimed to provide solutions through training and mentoring in website management and the implementation of practical digital marketing strategies. The method consisted of three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation, utilizing a participatory approach involving lecturers, students, and the business owner. The results indicated significant improvements in both the appearance and functionality of the website, as well as enhanced skills in creating promotional content and leveraging social media platforms for marketing. Evaluation results showed that 72% of respondents agreed that the optimized website met their expectations and was easy to use. Additionally, 94.7% of participants stated that the digital marketing training was useful and easy to understand. This program successfully improved Kilo Kalori’s digital capacity and may serve as a reference model for similar initiatives targeting other UMKM.

Abstract

This community service program aims to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan, by enhancing their capacity in digital marketing strategies, financial literacy, and strengthening local economic resilience. The program was implemented using a participatory and practical approach through a series of activities including needs assessment, integrated training, workshops, and direct mentoring for MSMEs actors. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants' skills, particularly in utilizing social media and marketplaces for product promotion, maintaining basic financial records using digital applications, and conducting structured financial planning for their businesses. Furthermore, this initiative successfully fostered a shift in mindset—from traditional business management toward more strategic and data-driven decision-making. The success of this program demonstrates that well-targeted educational interventions can enhance the competitiveness of UMKM, especially in the face of digital transformation and economic uncertainty. However, sustainable impact requires ongoing assistance and multi-stakeholder collaboration. This program is expected to serve as a replicable model for similar initiatives in other regions.

Abstract

Strengthening the village economy is a strategic step in fostering local independence and competitiveness. One of the challenges faced by MSMEs in Jatiendah Village is the limited knowledge of halal certification, which has become mandatory under Law Number 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance. In addition, community members still have low cooperative literacy, even though cooperatives play an important role as people's economic institutions. This community service activity aims to improve MSME actors’ understanding of the halal certification process and strengthen community literacy regarding the functions of cooperatives. The methods used were counseling, socialization, and technical assistance with a participatory approach. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding, indicated by active discussions and positive responses to the importance of halal certification and the use of cooperatives as a means of strengthening the local economy. This program is expected to support the sustainability of MSMEs while optimizing the role of cooperatives as drivers of the village economy.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) in Tarumajaya Village, Kertasari District, focused on the use of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) as an effort to improve community health independence. Limited access to formal health facilities is the background to the importance of introducing Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) as an alternative natural treatment. The goal of this program is to increase community knowledge and skills in cultivating and utilizing Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) for daily health needs. The methods used are education on the benefits and processing of medicinal plants, as well as direct planting practices in the community environment. This activity was attended by 25 residents and succeeded in planting 5 types of plants and 85 polybags consisting of red ginger (Zingiber officinale L.), fig tree (Ficus carica L.), moringa (Moringa oleifera L.), cat's whiskers (Orthosiphon aristatus L.), and aloe vera (Aloe vera L.). The results showed very good community participation and increased understanding, evidenced by the start of independent planting of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) in their respective yards. This program has succeeded in increasing public awareness that Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) are not only useful as a "living pharmacy" for family health care, but also have the potential to improve ecology and develop the local economy in Tarumajaya Village.

Abstract

Reading interest among the Indonesian population remains considerably low. According to data from UNESCO, only around 0.001 percent of Indonesians demonstrate a high level of reading interest, equivalent to just 1 in 1,000 people. Another study, “World’s Most Literate Nations” by Central Connecticut State University, also indicates Indonesia’s low literacy ranking—60th out of 61 countries. This situation is further exacerbated by the 2022 PISA assessment results, which place Indonesia at 71st out of 81 participating countries in reading proficiency. One contributing factor to the weak literacy rate is the automatic grade promotion policy implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic, which allowed students to advance to the next grade level without mastering basic reading skills. This issue was observed at SD Negeri 34 Sungai Kakap, West Kalimantan, where several students from grades 1 to 5 were still unable to read properly. In response to this condition, a reading corner program was designed as an initiative to foster a reading culture by providing students with easy access to books before, during, and after class. The program is expected to improve both reading interest and reading skills among children in the area.

Abstract

This Community Partnership Program (PKM) was designed to address the challenges faced by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in obtaining business legality and halal certification. Legal business status through the Business Identification Number (NIB) and halal certification are crucial for improving access to financing, expanding market opportunities, and enhancing consumer trust in products. The program implemented a comprehensive approach combining socialization, interactive training, and practical technical assistance to guide participants through the processes of NIB registration and halal certification applications. As a result, most participants successfully obtained their NIBs and gained a clear understanding of the steps required for halal certification. Beyond procedural knowledge, participants also realized that legal recognition and certification serve as strategic foundations for strengthening and upgrading their businesses. Tangible impacts observed include increased product competitiveness, better access to government support schemes, and opportunities for collaboration with other businesses. Overall, the program demonstrates that targeted guidance and capacity-building activities can effectively enhance the legitimacy, marketability, and sustainability of MSMEs, empowering entrepreneurs to grow their businesses confidently while meeting regulatory and consumer standards.
