Abstract

This research aims to optimize the use of rice husks to produce environmentally friendly briquettes in Pematang Kasih Village, Pantai Cermin District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra Province. This activity was implemented through the 2025 Community Service Program (KKN) of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra, using qualitative methods and a field study approach. Observations were conducted to determine the community's continued disposal of rice husk waste without meaningful use. Based on the observations, KKN students then conducted outreach and hands-on practice of making rice husk briquettes with the village community. The results showed that the community enthusiastically participated in the outreach and began to understand the economic values ​​and environmental benefits of rice husk processing. The resulting briquettes can be used as an alternative fuel for household needs. This program successfully raised public awareness of the importance of agricultural waste management and opened new economic opportunities based on environmentally friendly energy.

Abstract

The Indonesian economy faces the challenges of economic inequality and high unemployment. One solution is the development of local entrepreneurship through the empowerment of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to increase the entrepreneurial capacity of the community in Pondok Kacang Timur Village through counseling on business plans, business legality, marketing, and financial management, with a focus on the use of information technology for operational efficiency. The counseling program demonstrated high participation from SMEs, with significant improvements in understanding aspects of business plans, business legality, and marketing. However, some participants still faced obstacles in implementing technology, particularly in financial management using accounting information systems. The positive impacts of this activity include improved entrepreneurial skills, which are expected to expand markets and increase SME income, as well as empower the local economy through the creation of business opportunities and reduced unemployment. However, ongoing mentoring is still needed to maximize the potential of SMEs through the application of technology.

Abstract

Emotional mental health is a state of overall psychological and emotional well-being, focusing on an individual's ability to understand, express, and manage feelings. Emotional mental health disorders can occur in anyone, including students, and may affect their daily activities and academic achievement. The purpose of this activity is to conduct emotional mental health screening among students using the SRQ-20 questionnaire, provide brief counseling to students with high scores (indicating emotional disorders), and increase knowledge and awareness among students about mental health and stress management. The method used was a Community-Based Service approach consisting of three stages: (1) activity planning, (2) implementation, and (3) evaluation and reporting. The results showed that 17 students (31.5%) showed indications of mild and moderate emotional mental disorders, while 9 students (16.6%) showed indications of severe emotional mental disorders. All participants with scores of ≥6 were followed up with brief counseling, and 10 of them were referred for further counseling at the university counseling center. This activity provided tangible benefits for students and strengthened the role of higher education institutions in supporting the psychological well-being of the academic community.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of intelligent snakes and ladders board learning media in increasing students' motivation to learn mathematics at SD Negeri 3 Masbagik Selatan. The background of this study is based on the low interest and motivation of students in learning numeracy due to the minimal use of innovative learning media by teachers. Through the Teaching Assistance Program (AM) of Hamzanwadi University in 2025, students were directly involved in the design process, socialization, and implementation of the intelligent snakes and ladders board media. This study used a qualitative method with a field study approach, including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the use of intelligent snakes and ladders board media was able to increase students' involvement and motivation to learn mathematics. Students became more active, enthusiastic, and easily understood the material on fractional arithmetic operations. This media was also well received by teachers and students, and provided a new alternative in a creative and enjoyable learning process. This experience is expected to inspire schools to continue developing innovative learning media to support the quality of education.

Abstract

This Community Service Program was carried out to enhance students’ abilities in designing and developing business models using the Business Model Canvas (BMC). The program was implemented through several stages, including the introduction of entrepreneurial concepts, training on the preparation of business models, intensive mentoring sessions, and final presentations of the developed business plans. The participants consisted of students who have an interest in entrepreneurship and were in the early stages of formulating their business ideas. Throughout the mentoring process, students were guided to identify customer segments, formulate value propositions, determine marketing channels and customer relationship strategies, and structure cost components and revenue streams. The results of the program indicate an improvement in students’ understanding and skills in applying the BMC framework in a comprehensive and practical manner. Students were able to organize their business ideas more systematically and became more prepared to proceed to market validation and initial implementation. This program contributes to strengthening the entrepreneurial mindset in higher education and supports the role of universities as facilitators in developing student-led business initiatives.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity aimed to create a bullying-free school environment at SDN Utama 2 Tarakan by enhancing students' knowledge and awareness. The program, executed in November 2025, employed an participatory-educational approach that included needs analysis, preparation of interactive materials (visuals and videos), execution of socialization, and roleplay simulations designed to foster empathy and courage among students. The results indicate that the interactive and relevant educational program successfully led to a significant increase in understanding of bullying categories and consequences among elementary school students, along with success in cultivating their commitment to becoming active upstanders. Furthermore, dedicated mentoring effectively strengthened the teachers' role in early detection. Overall, the program successfully instilled anti-bullying values, and it is recommended that the school internalize these materials periodically and establish an anti-bullying task force to ensure the sustained positive impact within the school environment.

Abstract

Dragon fruit cultivation in Suka Ndebi Village, Naman Teran District, Karo Regency has great potential in improving the community's economy. This study aims to analyze the role of dragon fruit cultivation in enhancing rural community welfare. Using descriptive qualitative methods through interviews, observations, and documentation, it was found that dragon fruit cultivation not only contributes to income improvement but also opens new business opportunities, creates employment, and strengthens the local economy. However, challenges exist in the form of limited market access, lack of knowledge regarding modern cultivation techniques, and minimal capital support. Therefore, an integrated development strategy among farmers, government, and the private sector is essential to make dragon fruit cultivation a sustainable pillar of the village economy.

Abstract

Elementary school teachers in Kretek District, Bantul Regency, face various challenges in implementing the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in Indonesian language learning, even though the Independent Curriculum emphasizes the importance of recognizing the diversity of individual student abilities. This community service activity aims to provide training to teachers on the TaRL concept and assist them in developing Indonesian language learning tools based on this approach. The activity was carried out through a series of stages, including workshops, mentoring, implementation, and evaluation involving elementary school teachers in Kretek District. Data were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, questionnaires, and observations. The results of the activity showed an increase in teachers' understanding of the concept and application of TaRL, as indicated by an increase in the average score from 62.3 in the pre-test to 84.7 in the post-test. In addition, the teachers successfully developed TaRL-based learning modules and media. Based on the results of the evaluation questionnaire, 86% of participants stated that the training was very useful, 78% felt more confident in implementing TaRL in the classroom, and 72% hoped for further mentoring. Thus, this training has proven effective in improving elementary school teachers' competency in understanding and implementing the TaRL approach in Indonesian language learning and providing practical solutions to differences in student ability in the classroom.

Abstract

The Indonesian School in Bangkok is a school based in Bangkok, adopting the Indonesian education system. Schools abroad established by Indonesia must adhere to the same educational system as Indonesia, from curriculum design to implementation. The Indonesian education system is inseparable from cultural inculcation. This also underpins curriculum development, emphasizing the importance of Indonesian culture in learning, ensuring that culture is preserved and not lost. Indonesia's rich cultural diversity impacts the norms inherent in students and their families, making it crucial. Therefore, Cultural Literacy Strengthening Training for Teachers at the Indonesian School in Bangkok is essential to enhance multicultural understanding in learning. This strengthening training aims to enhance teachers' understanding of the concept of cultural literacy and how to integrate it into learning. It also helps teachers integrate Indonesian, Thai, and global cultural values ​​into teaching materials.

Abstract

This study aims to strengthen local cultural heritage through the transformation of ketoprak scriptwriting in Caturharjo Village, Pandak Sub-district, Bantul Regency. The program was implemented as part of the 2025 Community Empowerment by Students (PMM) initiative of Ahmad Dahlan University using a qualitative method and field study approach. Preliminary observations revealed low literacy in ketoprak script development, limited innovation in performances, and insufficient utilization of digital technology for documentation and promotion of traditional arts. Based on these findings, a series of training activities were conducted, including ketoprak scriptwriting, performance capacity building, script digitalization, social media management, and audiovisual documentation workshops. The results indicate significant improvement in community capacity, evidenced by the successful development of a ketoprak script based on local historical narratives and increased understanding of digitalization and promotion by 34.8% and 34.1%, respectively. This program has positively influenced community participation in cultural preservation, provided digitally archived scripts, and enhanced cultural promotion strategies through technology. These efforts open opportunities for strengthening local cultural ecosystems and developing community-based creative economies in Caturharjo.
