Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the development of the Pramuka (Scouting) and Paskibra (Flag Hoisting Troop) programs at Pondok Pesantren Darunnajah through the lens of three key management functions: planning, organizing, and controlling. These functions are considered foundational pillars in managing character and leadership education programs within the Islamic boarding school environment. The research employed a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of extracurricular activities conducted in the pesantren. The findings reveal that the planning function was implemented systematically, with clearly defined objectives and participatory forums such as the Musyawarah Dewan Ambalan for designing annual work plans. The organizing function was reflected in a well-structured organizational hierarchy, clear division of roles and responsibilities, and the strategic assignment of qualified mentors and trainers. The controlling function combined direct supervision through regular on-site inspections and indirect supervision through accountability reports and annual evaluation forums. Additionally, student participation in the Pramuka program was integrated into the national education data system (Dapodik), reinforcing accountability and motivation. The implications of this study suggest that consistent application of management functions significantly enhances the effectiveness of extracurricular programs in shaping students' character and leadership. This model of educational program management can serve as a reference for other Islamic educational institutions seeking to implement structured, sustainable, and character-oriented extracurricular initiatives.

Abstract

This research analyzes the difficulties experienced by teachers at the Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School, Jakarta, in carrying out Classroom Action Research (PTK). The quality of teacher professionalism is key to ensuring students receive the best education, and PTK is an important tool to improve the learning process. However, implementing PTK in the field is often not easy, and many teachers face various challenges, including in the Islamic boarding school environment. This research aims to identify teachers' understanding of PTK, the difficulties they face, and solutions to overcome them. A qualitative approach with case study methods is used to understand this phenomenon in depth. Primary data was collected through interviews with teachers at the Darunnajah Islamic Boarding School, while secondary data was obtained from relevant school records, books and journals. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman interactive model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that teachers have a basic understanding of PTK as a practical tool for improving learning, but their knowledge of formal methodology is still minimal. The main difficulties found were limited time, minimal understanding of research methodology, lack of writing culture, and lack of systemic support from the school. The proposed solution is to organize practice-based training, build a research and writing culture, and provide systematic support through school policies, incentives, and collaboration with external parties.

Abstract

Inclusive education requires transformative leadership to secure equitable access and quality learning for all students. This qualitative case study examines the strategic role of leadership in implementing inclusive practices through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participatory observations with principals, teachers, staff, and parents. The findings show that leadership is central in addressing challenges such as student diversity, limited resources, resistance to change, and weak collaboration. Leaders who apply visionary, distributed, and adaptive strategies by fostering participatory decision-making, mobilizing resources through community partnerships, and promoting flexible pedagogies successfully embed inclusive principles into school culture and daily operations. Sustaining inclusive education further demands ongoing professional development, collaborative networks with stakeholders, and systematic evaluation mechanisms. The study provides practical guidance for educational leaders and policymakers in strengthening leadership capacity and institutionalizing inclusive practices, ensuring they remain responsive, equitable, and sustainable within dynamic educational contexts.
