Abstract

In modern states, law is often reduced to merely a tool of power. Many contemporary practices treat law as nothing more than a procedural requirement, disregarding its substantive values and the social conditions of society. This article discusses the validity of law within a political community from Habermas's perspective. According to him, the law must be discursive and stem from rational subjects capable of effective communication. The fundamental questions addressed are: how can law ideally be derived from norms within a political society? And how can law subsequently foster a democratic society? This article employs historical-factual methods, with primary sources drawn from the works of Jí¼rgen Habermas. Habermas used discourse ethics and the theory of communicative action. Data collection is conducted through textual analysis. The article concludes that the validity of law must originate from discursive norms present in society, even though there may be tensions between theory and practice in society.

Abstract

Sustainable development at the local level necessitates active community participation, bolstered by educational innovation and the optimisation of empowering institutions such as Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes). This research investigates the impact of the Social Studies Outdoor Laboratory and BUMDes on development in the Bokoharjo, Prambanan, Sleman Regency. Specifically, the study examines three key areas: (1) the influence of the Social Studies Outdoor Laboratory on development, (2) the role of BUMDes in facilitating development, and (3) the collaborative effect between the Social Studies Outdoor Laboratory and BUMDes on regional growth. A quantitative approach was employed, sampling nine individuals from Bokoharjo Village from September to October. Data collection involved questionnaires, while data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression tests, with the instrument's validity assessed through the product-moment method. The results reveal that: (1) the Social Studies Outdoor Laboratory has a significant influence on enhancing development, with a significance value of 0.000; (2) BUMDes plays a crucial role in contributing to development, also with a significance value of 0.000; and (3) the combination of the Social Studies Outdoor Laboratory and BUMDes demonstrates a significant influence on development, with a p-value of 0.000. These findings underscore the importance of synergetic educational innovation and local community empowerment in promoting sustainable development.

Abstract

This study investigates the legal awareness of students in Surakarta junior high schools concerning preventing bullying, intending to promote quality education in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research explores students' understanding, potential, and awareness of bullying prevention using qualitative and descriptive methods. Bullying encompasses various forms of violence, including physical, verbal, social, and cyber forms, often characterised by intimidation. The findings revealed that 90.99% of students reported experiencing bullying, predominantly verbal, with 53.25% subjected to discriminatory behaviour. Although 70% acknowledged the occurrence of physical and verbal violence, there was a noted deficiency in effective preventive measures, indicating a low level of awareness regarding bullying prevention. The study highlights the urgent need for improved awareness and preventive measures, making the audience feel the urgency and importance of the issue. It also underscores the vital role of schools and communities in enhancing legal awareness among students.

Abstract

<!-- ####### THIS IS A COMMENT - Visible only in the source editor #########--><p style="text-align: justify;">Indonesia is experiencing a demographic transition phenomenon. This can be seen from the results of the 2010 population census, which showed a positive trend in the productive age population, namely 15-64 years. In that year, the proportion reached 66% of the total population. The potential growth of Indonesia's productive population can be an engine of sustainable economic growth or a source of social conflict between classes in the future, if the government cannot handle this potential, it will become a problem related to fulfilling the rights of citizens to get decent work, because instead of being absorbed into the workforce, it will cause social conflict. The data used for this research is secondary data obtained from library materials such as books, journals, and data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The data used is a combined panel of time series and cross-sections from 2019 to 2023. The Human Development Index (HDI) of Central Java Province is still below the value of the HDI; this results in the HDI not having a significant effect on employment in the City / Regency in Central Java Province. This is because the human resources in the cities/districts of Central Java Province are still of low quality and unable to keep up with other provinces in Indonesia. The strategy that can be used in the framework of labour absorption is to improve resources to be more qualified so that they can get a job according to the business field they are interested in.</p>

Abstract

This research aims to explore and combine the concepts of civic spirituality and disposition to build ethical citizens' character. These two concepts complement each other, with civic spirituality focusing on religious values in society and civic disposition on civic attitudes that support active participation and responsibility. This research used the literature method, analysing relevant literature and theories on civic education, spirituality, and ethics. The results showed that the integration of civic spirituality and civic disposition can be a solid foundation for building the character of ethical, moral, and socially responsible citizens. This integration forms ethical citizens through religious values, such as basic morals, citizen activeness, responsibility, and norm-compliant citizenship. This concept strengthens the citizens' spiritual aspects, supports the development of a positive civic attitude, and focuses on the common good. The benefits of this research are that it offers insights for educators, policymakers, and the public in designing more comprehensive and effective civic education programs that aim to shape citizens with strong character, ethics, and morals.

Abstract

The formation of student characters is carried out with variations in the form of digital-based "Smart Mobile Civic" learning media innovations that can be applied to learning civic education. It is hoped that this innovation has the potential to improve critical, rational, and creative thinking skills following Pancasila's values in responding to various problems in the field of citizenship. This research aims to (1) analyse the implementation and improvement of tolerance character. (2) analysis of the effectiveness of the tolerant values applied in Smart Mobile Civic. The research results show that: (1) Lecturers act as presenters and models for students to develop good values. (2) Smart Mobile Civic is an effective medium for efforts to form an attitude of tolerance shown through the learning achievements of citizens' rights and obligations in maintaining the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. The diversity of Indonesian society as a Unitary State is integrated with the Teaching Module developed with the Smart Mobile Civic application. It is very relevant to the demands of digitalisation of citizenship education learning technology as a form of increasing "civic disposition" competence, which develops attitudes as a form of implementing citizenship education and achieving the Pancasila student profile, namely having six main characteristics: faith, devotion to God Almighty, and noble character, global diversity, cooperation, independence, critical thinking and creativity.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology demands integrating digital ethics skills into the education process, including at the elementary school level. The study explores the transformation of social science teaching in elementary schools to build students' digital ethics skills. This study uses a qualitative method as a literature study, including analysing various relevant academic sources, such as journal articles, books, and previous research reports. The focus lies on how the pedagogical approach in Social Sciences can be adjusted to instil digital ethics values, such as responsible use of technology, privacy awareness, and critical thinking skills towards digital information. The study results indicate that teaching social Sciences has excellent potential as an effective medium for introducing the concept of digital ethics to students. Students can better understand the importance of ethical behaviour in the online environment through project-based learning methods, group discussions, and case studies related to social issues in the digital world. In addition, the role of teachers as facilitators is vital in guiding students to develop a critical understanding of the information they encounter online. The transformation of social science teaching integrated with digital ethics improves students' technological literacy and forms character as responsible technology users. The study's implications are expected to be a reference for educators in designing a curriculum relevant to the needs of the digital era.
