Abstract

Limited studies have examined the combined impact of training, gender, and work experience on air traffic controllers' (ATC) performance. This study examines the simultaneous influence of training, gender, and work experience on ATC performance at AirNav Indonesia’s Medan Branch, aiming to identify dominant predictors and policy implications. A quantitative associative design was employed with saturated sampling of 69 ATC personnel holding Aerodrome Controller Ratings. Data were collected via validated questionnaires (Cronbach’s α > 0.7) and standardized rating tests, then analyzed using multiple regression (α = 0.05). The model explained 26% of performance variance (R² = 0.26, F(3,56) = 6.572, p = 0.001). Training (β = 0.344, p = 0.010) and work experience (β = 0.286, p = 0.031) were significant, while gender (β = -0.078, p = 0.529) was insignificant. The data analysis results indicate that the simultaneous F test result's significance value is sig 0.001 <0.05, which means they have a simultaneous effect. The findings emphasize prioritizing recurrent training programs and experience-based assignments for ATC. The remaining 74% unexplained variance, particularly the minimal explained variance in the current model, highlights the need for future research to explore additional performance factors such as cognitive abilities and team dynamics, while the findings continue to support gender-neutral scheduling policies.

Abstract

Epiphora, or excessive tearing, is a frequent yet under-recognised adverse effect of docetaxel, a taxane-based chemotherapeutic agent used in breast cancer treatment. Inflammatory and fibrotic changes within the lacrimal drainage system are hypothesised as the primary mechanisms. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between docetaxel administration duration and epiphora severity, alongside the impact of cumulative dosage and patient age. A retrospective observational study was conducted at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang, involving 25 breast cancer patients who reported epiphora during docetaxel chemotherapy. Patients with pre-existing ocular conditions, prior lacrimal surgery, or concurrent use of epiphora-inducing medications were excluded. Epiphora severity was assessed using the Munk score, and statistical analyses included Pearson’s correlation and multiple regression. Findings demonstrated a strong positive correlation between epiphora severity and docetaxel duration (r = 0.645, p < 0.05), cumulative dosage (r = 0.618, p < 0.05), and patient age (r = 0.703, p < 0.05). Limitations include the retrospective design, small sample size, and subjective assessment tools. These results emphasise the importance of monitoring for epiphora during docetaxel therapy, with early ophthalmologic intervention recommended. Further prospective studies are needed to clarify pathophysiological mechanisms and optimise management strategies for chemotherapy-induced epiphora.

Abstract

The spinning industry is an important part of the textile sector that faces efficiency challenges due to the large amount of waste in the production process. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Lean Manufacturing as a strategic approach to improving production efficiency in one of the medium-scale spinning companies in West Java. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were obtained through direct observation, in-depth interviews with six key informants, and analysis of company documents. The results of the study indicate that the application of Lean principles such as 5S, Just-In-Time (JIT), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Visual Management can reduce waiting time between processes by 55%, reduce the frequency of machine breakdowns by 62.5%, and increase the orderliness of the work area by 68%. Even so, the implementation of lean is not free from challenges such as the mismatch of production schedules with machine readiness, resistance to work culture from senior employees, and lack of in-depth understanding of lean tools. This study confirms that the success of Lean Manufacturing depends not only on the tools used, but also on the readiness of the organizational culture and supporting information systems. These findings provide practical contributions to the development of efficient and sustainable operational management strategies in the spinning industry, and offer recommendations in the form of integrated training, integration of production information systems, cross-departmental evaluation, periodic lean audits, and performance-based reward schemes.

Abstract

Increasingly worrying global climate change drives the need to transition to renewable energy as a key strategy in reducing carbon footprint and supporting environmental sustainability. Fossil fuel-based energy has become a major contributor to the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, so more environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions are needed. Various studies have shown that the integration of renewable energies, such as solar, wind, and biomass, has great potential in reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency globally. However, the implementation of renewable energy still faces challenges in terms of technology, policies, and investments that are not yet optimal. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the integration of renewable energy solutions in reducing the carbon footprint as well as analyze the factors that affect the success of its implementation. The method used in this study is a literature study, by analyzing various scientific journals, policy reports, and previous research results that discuss the green energy transition and its impact on the environment. A thematic analysis approach is used to identify key patterns in the research that has been conducted. The results show that the use of renewable energy is able to significantly reduce carbon emissions by up to 50% in several industrial and transportation sectors. In addition, strong policy support, such as tax incentives and investment in green infrastructure, are important factors in the successful adoption of renewable energy. Thus, an integrative strategy is needed that includes technological innovation, supportive policies, and the involvement of various stakeholders to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable energy system.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) technology has brought about profound changes in many facets of human existence, posing new difficulties that have an impact on mental and spiritual equilibrium. With an emphasis on how people might stay connected to spiritual parts of life in the face of rapid change, this study examines the significance of preserving balance between spiritual ideals and technological advancements. To lessen the effects of "techno-stress" and alienation that people frequently experience in the digital age, an integrative strategy that incorporates mindfulness, religion-based ethics, traditional practices like meditation and dhikr, as well as universal moral standards, is suggested. While stressing the risks of utilizing AI technology without a solid ethical basis, this article also explores how it may aid in human spiritual development, for instance, through applications that promote meditation and introspection. Society may use AI as a tool to enhance life quality rather than merely increase efficiency if it embraces spirituality as a key component of interactions with the technology. This study provides guidance for creating a more meaningful and balanced existence in the high-tech age.

Abstract

This study explores the correlation between stigma and mental health issues among homosexual individuals in Palopo City, Indonesia. Homosexuality remains a highly stigmatized and marginalized subject in many societies, particularly in conservative regions where cultural and religious beliefs influence attitudes towards sexual minorities. The objective of this research is to understand how stigma, both external and internalized, affects the mental well-being of homosexuals in Palopo. Utilizing a qualitative research approach and literature review method, this study examines existing research, case studies, and theories on stigma and mental health in the context of sexual minorities. The findings reveal that homosexual individuals in Palopo experience significant psychological distress due to societal rejection, discrimination, and exclusion. Internalized stigma, characterized by self-hatred and low self-esteem, is prevalent among this group and is linked to various mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. Moreover, the literature suggests that societal attitudes towards homosexuality in Palopo, influenced by conservative values, exacerbate these mental health issues, leading to a cycle of isolation and poor mental health outcomes. The study also highlights the importance of education, legal reforms, and supportive communities in mitigating stigma and improving mental health outcomes for homosexuals in the region. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers, mental health professionals, and advocacy groups aiming to address the mental health needs of sexual minorities in conservative regions.

Abstract

The post-millennial generation’s reliance on digital learning tools, compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic, has created an urgent need to redefine pedagogical leadership in higher education. This study fills a critical gap in the literature by empirically testing how servant leadership directly impacts student engagement and learning outcomes. Using a cross-sectional quantitative design data were collected via Likert-scale questionnaires from 100 undergraduate students purposively sampled from private universities with suboptimal e-learning infrastructure. Structural equation modeling (SEM) in AMOS 22 revealed that servant leadership strongly predicts student engagement with an estimated value (λ = 0.911, p <0.001), the influence of Lecturer Servant Leadership on student learning outcomes is significant with a value (λ = 0.609, p = 0.020) and the influence of student engagement on student learning outcomes is small but has a significant impact with a value (λ = 0.160, p <0.001). From the calculation results obtained, the indirect effect of Lecturer Servant Leadership on learning outcomes is 0.146 or 14.6% mediation effect, which means Total Effect = Direct Effect (0.609) + Indirect Effect (0.146) = 0.755, with Proportion of mediation = 0.146 / 0.755 ≈ 19.3%. The results prove that by encouraging “engagement” as cognitive participation, emotional investment, and behavioral interaction, student learning outcomes will increase by lecturer servant leadership model.
