Abstract

Muhammadiyah education plays a strategic role in building a modern Islamic civilization in Indonesia through the integration of Islamic values and modernity in its education system. One of the main instruments for shaping Islamic ideology and character in Muhammadiyah and 'Aisyiyah Universities (PTMA) is the Muhammadiyah Studies course, which serves to instill the basic values of the movement, such as tauhid, amar ma'ruf nahi munkar, and tajdīd as spiritual, moral, and intellectual foundations. However, the reality in the field shows that Muhammadiyah learning is still dominated by conventional approaches and is not yet optimal in responding to the challenges of the digital era and the needs of Society 5.0 generation students. This study aims to identify innovation models, development strategies, and quality control systems for Muhammadiyah learning that are relevant to the character of contemporary Muhammadiyah higher education. The research method used is a qualitative approach with library research techniques, through descriptive-analytical analysis of academic literature, institutional documents, and theories of Islamic education, learning innovation, and total Quality Management. The results of the study show five main issues in the implementation of Muhammadiyah learning, namely: i) the strong teacher-centered paradigm; ii) low digital media innovation; iii) weak ideological and pedagogical competence of educators; iv) the absence of a standardized quality control system; and v) lack of adaptation of teaching materials to social issues and modern technology. This study offers an integrative model of Muhammadiyah-based learning based on three main dimensions: innovation, development, and quality control. This model combines the principles of student-centered learning, digital technology, and quality management based on Muhammadiyah ideological values, so that learning is not only cognitive-normative but also transformative and contextual.

Abstract

Modern education often prioritizes academic achievement as the primary indicator of success, while moral responsibility and ethical dimensions of knowledge are frequently overlooked. This study employs a library research method to explore the symbolic meaning of qalam through a tafsir tarbawi approach, drawing upon the Quran, classical tafsir works, and Islamic educational literature. The analysis reveals that qalam is not merely a writing instrument but a symbol of knowledge, literacy, and intellectual authority, intrinsically connected to morality as exemplified in the character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). These findings underscore the relevance of Quranic educational values in addressing contemporary challenges, including weak literacy culture, declining academic ethics, and the tendency to separate knowledge acquisition from character formation.

Abstract

This study analyzes the concepts of Islamic educational psychology and their implications for the learning process through a literature-based inquiry. The study is motivated by the need for an educational psychology approach that addresses not only cognitive and behavioral aspects but also the spiritual, moral, and fundamental potential of learners from an Islamic perspective. It aims to analyze concepts of Islamic educational psychology relevant to the learning process and to examine their application in the design of learning grounded in Islamic values. The study employs a qualitative approach using content analysis of literature derived from the Quran, Hadith, and academic literature on Islamic educational psychology. The analysis identifies five key psychopedagogical frameworks: fitrah, Islamic motivation, exemplary conduct (uswah hasanah), habituation (ta'dib and riyadhah), and the development of ‘aql and qalb. These frameworks indicate that learning from the perspective of Islamic educational psychology is directed toward the holistic development of learners through the integration of knowledge, motivation, habit formation, value internalization, and the strengthening of moral and spiritual dimensions. The application of these frameworks positions teachers as both facilitators and role models, while the learning process is directed toward the integrated development of learners’ intellectual, moral, and spiritual potential. This study provides a conceptual framework for developing learning approaches that integrate psychological principles with Islamic values.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology has reshaped students’ learning preferences, making them more inclined toward visual and interactive media. In this context, Islamic Education must adapt to remain relevant and effective in the digital era. This article explores the urgency of integrating digital learning media into Islamic Education to enhance teaching quality and student engagement. Employing a qualitative approach with thematic content analysis based on the Miles and Huberman framework, data were gathered from books, peer‑reviewed journals, and scholarly articles. The analysis identified recurring themes highlighting the role of digital media in fostering motivation, conceptual comprehension, and active participation among learners. Findings demonstrate that digital learning media significantly improve students’ interest, understanding of concepts, and involvement in classroom activities. The discussion emphasizes that digital media enrich pedagogical strategies and align Islamic Education with contemporary educational demands. The implications suggest that educators and policymakers should prioritize the integration of digital tools into curricula to strengthen the relevance of Islamic pedagogy, bridge traditional values with modern practices, and contribute to holistic learner development in the digital age.

Abstract

Natural resources are essential for human survival, encompassing economic, social, cultural, and political dimensions. In Islamic thought, nature is considered an amanah (trust) from Allah, requiring responsible stewardship that aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals emphasizing conservation and social justice. This article examines the role of Green Technology in optimizing natural resource management while addressing social challenges arising from cultural adaptation and technology transfer. Employing a qualitative approach with thematic analysis based on Miles and Huberman, the study synthesizes literature and conceptual insights to identify dominant themes. Findings indicate that Green Technology improves efficiency and reduces ecological damage, yet its adoption often encounters resistance due to entrenched cultural practices and limited awareness. Islamic principles of khalifah (stewardship), ‘adl (justice), and mizan (balance) provide ethical grounding for sustainable practices, reinforcing the objectives of global development. The discussion highlights three themes: environmental conservation through technology, social adaptation and negotiation, and integration of Islamic ethics with sustainability frameworks. The implication is that embedding Islamic values into sustainable development strengthens community-based approaches, ensuring ecological balance, social equity, and long-term resilience in resource management.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between locus of control and academic achievement among students of the Islamic Education Department at one of the State Islamic Universities in Indonesia. Employing a quantitative associative design, the research applied proportionate stratified random sampling to 284 active students. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression. The results indicate that the calculated t-value exceeded the critical t-table value (4.475 > 1.650237) and the significance level was below the 0.05 threshold (0.000 < 0.05). These findings confirm that locus of control significantly influences academic achievement. The correlation coefficient between locus of control (X) and academic achievement (Y) was 0.409, reflecting a moderate relationship. This suggests that students’ academic success is shaped not only by external factors such as teaching methods and academic environment but also by internal psychological factors, particularly locus of control, which determines their belief in managing learning processes and outcomes. The implication is that pedagogical strategies in Islamic Education should emphasize strengthening students’ internal locus of control through approaches that foster autonomy, academic responsibility, self-reflection, and awareness that learning success results from personal effort and self-regulation.

Abstract

This study examines sustainable development in Quranic literacy by applying the Iqra’ method among university students in Islamic higher education. The research addresses the urgent need to remediate Quranic reading deficits as part of educational sustainability, ensuring that students acquire both technical competence in recitation and reflective understanding of the sacred text. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed with a clinical case study design integrated into laboratory-based interventions. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, documentation of learning outcomes, and diagnostic placement tests. The findings reveal that the Iqra’ method, traditionally associated with early learners, can be effectively adapted to adult education contexts when combined with structured mentoring, small-group guidance, and private tasmi’ sessions. Students demonstrated significant improvement in tilawah skills, overcoming phonetic articulation barriers, mastering basic tajwid rules, and achieving the minimum tartil standards required of future educators. Psychologically, the mentoring approach reduced resistance and anxiety among adult learners, fostering confidence and responsibility in their learning process. The implications highlight the importance of institutionalizing structured clinical remediation systems within religious laboratories at public universities, positioning Quranic literacy as a key component of sustainable educational development.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital commerce has increased convenience for Generation Z consumers while also encouraging impulsive buying behavior. Among Muslim consumers, Islamic financial literacy is important because it reflects financial knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors based on Islamic principles. Objective: This study examined impulsive buying behavior among Muslim Generation Z individuals from the perspectives of Islamic financial knowledge, Islamic financial attitudes, and Islamic financial behaviour. Method: A quantitative design was employed with 347 Muslim Generation Z respondents. Impulsive buying behavior was measured through cognitive and affective dimensions, while Islamic financial literacy was assessed through its three dimensions. Data were analyzed using separate simple linear regression analyses. Results: Assumption testing confirmed that all variables met normality, linearity, and homoscedasticity requirements. The findings showed that Islamic financial knowledge, Islamic financial attitudes, and Islamic financial behaviour each had a significant relationship with impulsive buying behavior (p< .001). These results indicate that impulsive buying among Muslim Generation Z consumers is influenced not only by financial knowledge but also by their financial attitudes and behaviors. Implications: Islamic financial education programs should integrate knowledge enhancement with the development of positive financial attitudes and responsible financial management practices to help Muslim Generation Z consumers better control impulsive buying tendencies in the digital marketplace.

Abstract

This article is written to analyze the construction of love values in the Guidelines for Love-Based Curriculum in Madrasah, published by the Directorate General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia in 2025. The purpose of this article is to examine the operationalization of critical curriculum principles and pedagogy of love, and to formulate a reconstructed model of the Love-Based Curriculum in Islamic education. This article is written using a qualitative method with content analysis design based on library research and interpretative-critical approach. The primary data source is the Love-Based Curriculum document, with units of analysis including objectives, curriculum principles, Panca Cinta, learning strategies, activities, reflections, assessments, and evaluations. The analysis applies deductive coding derived from Paulo Freire’s critical curriculum theory and the pedagogy of love inspired by Ibn Arabi, Rumi, and Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas, enriched with inductive coding to capture the distinctive features of the document. Analytical findings indicate that the Love-Based Curriculum constructs love as theological, intellectual, personal, social, ecological, and national orientation through Panca Cinta. The document incorporates social awareness, dialogue, reflection, compassionate communication, social projects, and authentic assessment, yet student agency and evaluative rubrics for empathy, critical reflection, and rahmah praxis remain underdeveloped. The reconstructed model emphasizes revelation and adab, dialogical reflection, student agency, compassionate praxis, and authentic assessment. Its implication lies in developing teaching materials and assessments that are more dialogical, participatory, and socially engaged.

Abstract

The concept is the result of the thoughts of each individual in a society and is a guideline for a multicultural society, each concept of a multicultural society has many differences, this proves the diversity of culture, religion, culture, ethnicity, work, and others in a multicultural society. This writing uses a qualitative method by explaining the state of a society based on differences in culture, culture, religion, ethnicity, different jobs, based on reading sources about multicultural society, so that the results of the reading are the same as what happens in today's society, that a multicultural society has its own characteristics, such as: living in groups, creating culture, experiencing change, interacting, there is complete leadership, social stratification, all these differences arise becausegeographical conditions, strategic location of the region, different climatic conditions,Thus, society can be grouped into two types, namely modern and traditional society. Through these two types of society, it has been proven that the concept of each society cannot be unified, both influence each other, so through Islamic religious education it is hoped that harmony and peace in diversity can be maintained, even though in the Islamic material itself there are many differences in concepts and opinions, all these differences are only a wealth.
