Abstract

Curriculum changes have brought about changes in learning outcomes, learning objectives, and learning objective sequences, especially in the Islamic education curriculum, resulting in changes in learning activities. This study aims to describe learning outcomes, learning objectives, and learning objective sequences at the madrasah level in the field of fiqh and at the junior high school level in fiqh material. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, namely exploring data related to learning outcomes, learning objectives, and learning objective sequences in the independent curriculum at madrasahs using data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was then carried out by reducing the data, presenting the data, and drawing conclusions to obtain results. The results show that in terms of learning outcomes, learning objectives, and learning objective flow, Islamic religious education in the field of fiqh at madrasah tsnawiyah is more detailed than the learning outcomes, learning objectives, and learning objective flow in fiqh material at junior high schools. The implication is that curriculum changes require adjustments to fiqh learning strategies to make them more relevant, measurable, and contextual at each level of education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of Quran Memorization Institutions in shaping the religious character, discipline, and responsibility of students, as well as identifying the supporting and inhibiting factors in the character-building process. The background of this study is the declining interest of children in studying the Quran and the importance of non-formal institutions as a means of Islamic character building. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included Quran teachers, students, and parents. The data were analyzed interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the Quran Memorization Institute played a significant role in shaping the character of students. Religious character is instilled through the habit of worship and good character; discipline is instilled through time management, rules and regulations, and memorization discipline; and responsibility is instilled through the trust of memorization and taking care of the tahfidz house facilities. Supporting factors come from the involvement of teachers and parents, while obstacles include a lack of supervision at home and weak motivation among some students. Implicitly, this study confirms that the Quran Memorization Center contributes greatly to character education based on Quranic values and can be used as a model for strengthening moral education in other non-formal institutions.

Abstract

Arabic is one of the most important languages in the world and plays a major role in religious life. Therefore, it is very important to introduce it to children from an early age. The purpose of this study is to contribute to the development of an Arabic language curriculum for early childhood that is relevant to the needs of children. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach to collect and analyze secondary data relevant to the research topic. The results of the study show that children are interested and inspired to learn Arabic through play techniques. Some of the tactics found are games, songs, and short stories that focus on children's daily lives. This study explains how early Arabic language learning can be accelerated through games and the use of materials that can be applied in everyday life. The practical implications of this study can help parents and teachers in choosing appropriate teaching techniques and strategies and in building a classroom environment that supports the development of Arabic in children.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education at the junior high school level plays a crucial role in shaping students' character and understanding of Islamic teachings. However, the implementation of Islamic Religious Education in junior high schools often faces various problems. This study aims to identify problems that arise in the teaching of Islamic Religious Education in junior high schools, including factors that affect its effectiveness and solutions that can be applied to overcome them. This study uses a qualitative method with case studies in several junior high schools covering urban and rural areas. Data collection was conducted through interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers, students, and school principals, as well as direct observation of the learning process. The results of the study show that the main challenges in Islamic Religious Education in junior high schools include a curriculum that is not relevant to the current era, as well as the influence of the social and cultural environment on students' interest and understanding of religious material. To improve learning effectiveness, it is necessary to update the curriculum to better suit the context and implement more innovative and engaging teaching methods. The implication is to overcome these challenges in order to create Islamic Religious Education that is more relevant, effective, and supports the overall character development of students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the important role of educators in Quranic boarding schools in shaping students’ akhlaqul karimah. Teachers at these institutions instill positive character values in their students, including religious values, environmental awareness, independence, honesty, discipline, responsibility, social care, and diligence. The purpose of this study is to explore the role of educators in developing students’ honesty, discipline, and sense of responsibility. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, conducted in a specific setting to describe phenomena as they occur naturally. The data collected consist of words and images rather than numbers; any numerical data are used only to support a comprehensive description of the situation. This descriptive research aims to present and interpret data without focusing on statistical analysis. The results indicate three main educator roles in shaping students’ character: (i) in developing disciplinary character, educators act as parents, motivators, mentors, role models, and supervisors; (ii) in fostering honesty, educators serve as motivators, mentors, role models, and supervisors; and (iii) in building a sense of responsibility, educators function as parents, motivators, mentors, role models, and supervisors.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the discovery of several undesirable behaviors among students. Some of them behaved rudely, used foul language, did not greet their teachers when they met them, and did not pay attention when teachers explained Islamic Religious Education lessons. They even ignored teachers' instructions during lessons. In addition, there are also students who enter and leave the classroom without permission, sleep in class, and show laziness in learning. This situation challenges the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process and requires an appropriate approach to improve student discipline and motivation to learn. The purpose of this study is to determine the form of student ethics towards educators, namely teachers. This research uses a qualitative research design. The data sources are primary and secondary data sources. To collect data, the author uses non-test techniques with data collection tools such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The author's research findings show that the ethical behavior of students towards teachers in Islamic elementary schools includes shaking hands with the right hand when meeting teachers, not talking while teachers are explaining the material, not speaking rudely to teachers, not yelling at teachers, and obeying teachers' rules. The implementation of these forms of student ethics not only creates a conducive learning environment, but also further shapes the foundation of religious character that is internalized in students' daily behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the political elements in the implementation of the free school program in Bengkulu Province and to evaluate the implementation, benefits, and challenges of the policy. The background of this research is the high cost of education, which limits access for underprivileged children; therefore, the government initiated the free school program to improve educational equity. This research employed a qualitative method with a document-based policy analysis approach. Data were obtained through the analysis of official documents, such as government regulations, the Bengkulu Governor's Regulations, School Operational Assistance reports, and scholarly literature related to education and politics. This approach enables a comprehensive exploration of the policy based on valid and verified evidence. The results indicate that the free school program has produced positive impacts, including improved access to education for underprivileged children, support for equitable distribution of education quality, and contribution to the national goal of educating the population. However, the program also has a significant political dimension, as the use of the “free school” slogan during the 2024 regional elections in Bengkulu was linked to the electability of regional head candidates. Additional challenges include fund management, limited facilities, and the need for transparency in program implementation. Although the free school program has political elements, it has provided tangible benefits to the community, both in terms of access to education and the enhancement of human resource quality. This study emphasizes the importance of managing education policy transparently and sustainably to ensure that social and political objectives are aligned.
