Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate how teachers' work discipline and the principal's performance at SMP Negeri 3 Bireuen contribute to an improvement in education quality. The authors used qualitative methods in this study. The results of the study found that there were 3 roles of the principal in SMP Negeri 3 Bireuen that affected the quality of education, the first was that the principal coordinated all employee staff and also the teacher council in carrying out activities, involving all components, explaining the goals to be achieved, forming committees, conduct monitoring and hold deliberations before carrying out activities. Second, the Principal conducts performance evaluations, compares actual performance with targets, holds monthly meetings, sets specific performance standards, provides rewards and punishments, giving directions to employees, asking for reports after activities and always providing motivation to employee staff and the teacher council. Third, the Principal makes continuous improvements, supervises every semester, provides training and education to teachers and staff, conducts student tutoring during off-school hours and works closely with parents of students. As a result, the principal's performance as a leader can improve the quality of education at SMP Negeri 3 Bireuen. In the meantime, SMP Negeri 3 Bireuen's education quality is also impacted by teacher discipline's impact on education quality.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the stages of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the school partnership program with parents during distance learning. This research used qualitative and descriptive approaches. The subjects are the school principal, five subject teachers, one deputy principal, two representatives of students' parents, one head of administration, and two school committee members. The data are collected using participatory observation, in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The data are analyzed through three steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The findings indicate that during the planning stage, the partnership team has prepared some actions such as (1) first-day school activities; (2) parental activities; (3) inspirational activities; (4) parents’ involvement in self-development activities, and (5) social activities. At the implementation stage, the school partnership team, along with the students’ parents, carries out some activities which involve the parents' association and school committee members based on the action plan that has been set previously. The monitoring process shows that the partnership program involves the parents' associations, the school committee members, and the teachers. The evaluation step shows that the action plan has been implemented effectively despite some issues.

Abstract

The results of the identification of the objective conditions of learning in schools show problems, including students who memorize the material, but do not understand and are unable to connect physics material with the application of local wisdom in everyday life. This study aims to develop a local wisdom-based physics e-module product that was developed in terms of the components of illustration presentation, language, and material suitability for students' critical thinking and scientific argumentation skills on the Newtonian mechanics topics. Product development refers to the ADDIE research model (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation, Evaluation). The results of validation by material experts show that the local wisdom-based physics e-module developed has an average percentage of 93.83% (very valid), from media experts at 84.72% (quite valid), and learning experts at 97.22 % (very valid). Therefore, the overall average of the results of the local wisdom-based physics e-module media assessment by the experts is 92.59% with a very valid category. The developed e-module learning media received very good responses from students. This can be seen from the average student response of 90.61% (very good). Based on the validation results from the experts, the product in the form of a physics e-module local wisdom-based is very valid to be used in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of digital literacy skills and word choice mastery on students' writing skills. This descriptive qualitative research used survey in the form of questionnaires, multiple choice items, and writing practice as the data collection techniques. The obtained data were analysed by calculating the scores of digital literacy skills, word choice mastery, and writing skills practice, and then calculating the effect of those variables using multiple linear regression tests. The data were then processed through the steps of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The sample of this study were 55 college students who signed a writing contract at Siliwangi University. As a result, word choice mastery had an effect of 1.2%, digital literacy skills had an effect writing skill of 9%, while literacy skills and word choice mastery influenced writing skills of 11.6%.

Abstract

This study provides an overview of science creativity learning activities using online learning media as a stimulus and describes creative competence, which includes the development of curiosity, creative thinking, and students' creative products on the theme of environmental sustainability. Data collection is done by observation and analyzed based on the phenomena that arise in learning, which are divided into four criteria. Based on the results of the study, it was found that creativity learning activities that were stimulated using online learning media and carried out through eight learning steps gave a positive response to student creativity. The development of students' curiosity and creative thinking is in a good category but needs improvement, especially in terms of giving critical comments on products Assessment of students' creative products shows that the characteristics of creativity are very good. This study recommends the need to integrate a combination of various online learning media to be able to enrich the learning process of creativity in science learning with students' creative products in the form of ideas, pictures, charts, objects, and prototypes in order to motivate students to be more creative, think critically, and actively participate in protecting the earth in a sustainable way.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine how well high school students' reading comprehension and ability to analyse historical materials are improved by the Muara Takus Temple local history e-module. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-post-test control group was the study methodology employed. Students from SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang made up the 56-person sample for the study. The experimental group, which utilized the e-module, and the control group, which did not use the e-module, were the two groups formed from the research sample. Both a pre-test and a post-test were used to gather data. Data analysis using the t-test revealed that, in comparison to the control group, the experimental group significantly improved its capacity for evaluating historical materials (p-value = 0.001 <0.05). Thus, it was determined that the utilization of Candi Muara Takus' local history e-module had a substantial impact on students at SMA Negeri 1 Bangkinang's ability to read and analyse historical texts. The study's conclusion is that the local history e-module has the potential to help students become more proficient readers and analysts of historical materials. This demonstrates the necessity of integrating technology into history instruction to improve students' analytical abilities and get them ready to comprehend history more fully.

Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) utilizing inclusive education, related to education and employment, including targets 4 and 8, can be attained. Access to vocational education increases career and employment opportunities for all individuals. In reality, children with disabilities face learning obstacles. This study investigates how vocational education does implement and the barriers and factors that contribute to the success of students with impairments. The study used PICOC (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcomes, and Context) techniques. Data were gathered by cataloguing all pertinent scholarly articles published between 2017-2022. The study's findings show that several countries have adopted vocational education for people with disabilities. The accessibility of the media and curriculum affects how people with disabilities learn—adapting learning management techniques to the situations and capacities of students with disabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the importance of integrating life skills in developing the social skills of deaf children. The method used in this study was case study. The research subject in this study was two students and two teachers. Research instruments in this study used questionnaires. The instrument's preparation used a simple modification of the Social Skills Rating System (SSRS) measurement and then tested its validity using content validity, namely expert judgment. Data analysis in this study used descriptive qualitative, which was carried out by accumulating respondents' answers and adjusting to social skills criteria in the SSRS measurement. The results of this study indicate that integrating life skills programs into the curriculum can develop the social skills of deaf children. These social skills are shown in interactions with peers, which include cooperative behavior, assertiveness, and empathy.
