Abstract

The issue of social skills is always at the centre of the homeschooling discussion. Many studies have been carried out on homeschooled children’s social skills, but very little research has attempted to explore homeschooled children’s social skills from the perspective of both the homeschooling father and the homeschooling mother, especially those who are religiously minded Muslims. This paper highlighted the perspectives of religiously minded Muslim homeschooling parents on their children’s social skills. The researchers used a case study approach in a qualitative research design. A homeschooling father and a homeschooling mother were both purposefully chosen as informants. Individual interviews were conducted with both informants. To analyse the data, the researchers employed thematic analysis. Several themes emerged from the research. The findings revealed that the social skills of homeschooled children are the capacity to adapt to society, the ability to establish relationships, and the competence to manage disagreements. Moreover, the goal of social skills is to build harmony by achieving Allah's pleasure, followed by gaining people's pleasure.

Abstract

The professional development of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers is crucial to enhancing the quality of PAI learning in schools. One effective means to support their professional growth is through the utilization of technology as a learning medium and information source. This article aims to explore the use of technology by PAI teachers in their professional development, focusing on three key aspects: (1) The Importance of Integrating Technology in Teacher Professionalism; (2) Types and Functions of Technology Used by PAI Teachers; (3) Challenges Encountered by PAI Teachers in Advancing Professionalism through Technology. The research methodology used the qualitative method with the literature review approach, encompassing data collection and analysis from diverse sources such as journals, books, reports, and websites. The findings reveal that PAI teachers in Indonesia employ various technologies, including computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, internet connectivity, social media platforms, applications, and software, for multiple purposes like information retrieval, communication, collaboration, content creation, presentation, and assessment of learning. The use of technology among PAI teachers yields several advantages, including the enhancement of knowledge, skills, motivation, creativity, networking opportunities, and learning resources. However, they face challenges related to limited infrastructure, access, costs, and support. Moreover, there's a lack of readiness, competence, and awareness regarding ethics and security among these educators. PAI teachers encounter difficulties, obstacles, and risks such as network disruptions, viruses, malware, spam, phishing, hacking, cyberbullying, and plagiarism. The challenges of utilizing technology for teacher professional development encompass skills, attitudes, infrastructure, and ethical considerations. Therefore, PAI teachers must possess adequate competence and readiness to integrate technology into their professional development.

Abstract

This article aims to look at the philosophy of Islamic education from the perspective of maqashid sunnah (the ultimate purpose of hadith) in the social sphere to produce progressive Islamic education in the digital era. The digital era is characterized by a very wide openness of information, causing competition in this era to be very tight, so competitive and productive human qualities are needed, and this can be produced from a progressive pattern of Islamic education. Unfortunately, Islamic education as an instrument for human development, currently focuses more on developing each student to achieve high skills and qualifications. Still, on the other hand, it can be seen that the output of this is humans who focus more on profits for themselves. It does not have much influence on people's lives, even though progress in its true meaning should be oriented towards the benefits of the wider community. For this reason, studies are needed to examine the philosophical basis of education to find solutions to the problems above. As a source of Islamic teachings, Hadith has a core purpose, maqashid sunnah. Among several maqasid sunnah, there is maqoshid riayat-al-Mujtama' or the aim of developing society, which contains values that lead to the development of society. This study will use a qualitative methodology by analyzing the values contained in the maqashid riayat-al-Mujtama and then bringing them into education to find their suitability as a basis for Progressive Islamic Education. The conclusion of this study is that maqosid riayat-al-mujtama, which contains social values in the form of freedom, helping each other in goodness, justice, equality, mutual love, and care, can be used as a philosophical basis for progressive Islamic education.

By using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) this research will provide a complete picture of how the text is formed and what discourses are present in the formation of the text. The text in this study consisted of 2 related types, namely picture text and narrative text. In addition, this research is necessary because the findings will provide an overview of the content of school textbooks related to how regional representation is described. This is important to note as one of the instruments to build contemporary Indonesian identity especially in the national and Islamic education sector.

Abstract

The rapidly growing number of children is a demographic boon for Indonesia. There is positive potential with this number. However, there are also threats amidst the onslaught of several hedonic cultures and the unpredictable era of disruption. The potential for zakat in Indonesia is increasing, but the realization rate is still small. Therefore, effective early education is needed to encourage children's understanding of the importance of the character of generosity. The Quran emphasizes the obligation of zakat. In addition, these verses have a revelation from obligatory to sunnah. This research aims to examine the correlation of Quranic verses for Islamic philanthropy awareness, which include zakat, infaq, and sadaqah as a medium for instilling the character of generosity in children; 1) How is the leveling of Quranic verses about islamic philanthropy? 2) How do we recommend children for zakat, infaq and sadaqah? This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a thematic approach. It is hoped that there will be a conceptual model for cultivating the character of generosity in children to prepare them to become contributive individuals who can build progress and welfare for the nation.
