Abstract

Digital transformation has become a strategic imperative for educational institutions, including Islamic boarding schools, in responding to the challenges and competition of the digital era. This study aims to analyze the transformation of the digital ecosystem and its role in enhancing competitive advantage in Khalafiah Islamic boarding schools through a case study of Ash-Shiddiiqi Islamic Boarding School in Muaro Jambi. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving pesantren leaders, teachers, and students. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that digital ecosystem transformation at Ash-Shiddiiqi Islamic Boarding School involves the implementation of iPad-based learning, the staged development of students’ digital literacy, the utilization of digital media for institutional communication and branding, and digital governance supported by strong leadership. This transformation not only improves learning quality and institutional capacity but also enhances transparency, stakeholder engagement, and institutional competitiveness. The study concludes that a well-structured digital ecosystem constitutes a new and powerful source of competitive advantage for Khalafiah Islamic boarding schools when aligned with institutional values and governance.

Abstract

Poor student motivation in Akidah Akhlak topics as a result of traditional, teacher-centered techniques, which resulted in poor involvement, attention, and interest, served as the impetus for this study. Using animated YouTube videos that highlighted the inspirational tale of Prophet Musa, it sought to increase the motivation of eighth-grade pupils at MTsN 4 Banda Aceh. The study was carried out with 27 students in two cycles of planning, action, observation, and reflection using a qualitative Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology based on Kemmis and McTaggart. Descriptive analysis was used to examine data from observations, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The usefulness of animated movies in education was demonstrated by the results, which revealed that motivation went from 62.9% (good) in Cycle I to 96% (very excellent) in Cycle II, showing better attention, involvement, confidence, and knowledge of Prophet Musa's beliefs

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies used to foster disciplinary character through the implementation of congregational prayers at SMK Boarding School Brebes. The phenomenon of low student discipline presents a challenge that must be addressed seriously by educational institutions. Schools possess significant potential to cultivate discipline through religious activities, one of which is congregational prayer. Congregational prayer is not merely a worship ritual but also a means of character formation that emphasizes punctuality, obedience, and responsibility. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research informants include the school principal, Islamic education teachers, homeroom teachers, and students. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation techniques used to ensure data validity. The findings show that there are five strategies used in fostering students’ disciplinary character through congregational prayer, namely: (1) providing understanding, (2) teacher role-modelling, (3) student mentoring, (4) supervision, and (5) reward and punishment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the practice of AI integration in PAI learning and analyze its influence on digital literacy and the formation of students' spiritual character. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was obtained through interviews, observations, and documentation analysis of teachers, students, and madrasas. The results show that the use of AI has a positive impact on improving students' digital literacy, especially in the ability to access, understand, and utilize technology critically, ethically, and responsibly. AI-based learning media also increases motivation and learning participation through the presentation of adaptive and interactive materials. However, ethical and spiritual problems were found, such as a decline in the emotional closeness of student teachers and the potential for weakening of manners and religious awareness. Therefore, an integrative approach is needed that combines intelligent technology with the internalization of moral values so that AI functions as a support for character formation in Islamic education. This research contributes to the development of an AI-based PAI learning model that emphasizes digitalization as well as transcendental values.

Abstract

The urgency of this research lies in the urgent need to understand the dynamics of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum in the context of 21st century education transformation that emphasizes religious moderation, digital literacy, and inclusivity. Given the lack of studies that specifically map the development of the PAI curriculum bibliometrically, this study aims to provide a comprehensive mapping of trends, collaborations, authors, and themes that developed from 2015 to 2025. The method used is Scopus data-based bibliometric analysis with the PRISMA approach and processing using R software (Bibliometrix). The results show that publications will increase significantly in 2024, dominated by the social sciences and humanities, with Indonesia as the main contributor to global research. The thematic findings show that topics such as "curriculum", "religion", and "human" are the main driving themes, while concepts such as "inclusive education" and "Islamic moderation" have the potential to develop in the future. The novelty of this study lies in its explicit focus on the PAI curriculum, as well as a detailed mapping of international collaboration and thematic directions. Its contribution is significant to the development of Islamic education policies that are more contextual, progressive, and relevant to global agendas such as the SDGs.
