Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Moodle as e-learning in the online learning application at the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya. The research method employed the descriptive qualitative method. The sample in this study consisted of 46 cadets from the Aviation Communication Study Program Batch V Alpha and Bravo at Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya. This research was carried out from March 2020 to June 2020 at the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya. Data were collected using observation, questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies. The data obtained through questionnaires were then analyzed utilizing descriptive analysis techniques with percentages. The results of the optimal level of Moodle as e-learning in the online learning application from users, namely cadets, reached 79.56% for the user satisfaction aspect, with a good category. From the usability aspect, it got 73.61%, with enough category. From the graphic design aspect, it attained 56.74%, with enough category. The navigation aspect reached 76.95% in the good category, while the content aspect obtained 84.34% in the good category. Overall, the response of the VA and VB Aviation Communication cadets obtained 74.24%, with enough category. Thus, it can be concluded that Moodle as e-learning in the online-based learning application at the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya was not fully optimal since it was still in enough category. For this reason, it needs to be further developed from the usability aspect, graphic design, and additional features, such as video on demand and video streaming.

Abstract

This study aims to 1) improve students' career planning skills using inspirational class programs and 2) know the process of career guidance and counseling services using inspirational class programs on SPANDA TV virtual learning media. The type of research used was classroom action research with Kemmis and Mc. Taggart’s model. The inspirational class program is a modeling method in guidance and counseling services by bringing in several resource persons to be used as role models in career planning, but it was implemented virtually through SPANDA TV virtual learning media. This program's use could improve students' career planning skills on several indicators, including self-assessment ability, ability to read career opportunities (exploring opportunities), ability to make decisions and determine goals, planning ability, and the ability to pursue career goals (pursuit of achievement). The improvement of students' career planning abilities could be seen from the aspects of interest in participating in the inspirational class program, aspects of the success of making career mind-mapping, and aspects of increasing the mean score of the career planning scale before action (101.8 in the moderate category) to 106.7 (high category) in cycle I, and increased significantly to 109.3 (high category) in cycle II.

Abstract

The use of varied and suitable methods will undoubtedly encourage the success of the learning process carried out. However, some teachers still ignore this, especially regarding the use of methods in the learning process. Therefore, it is necessary to research the ability of teachers who teach fiqh lessons in implementing variations of learning methods at MTs Yapi Pakem. This study aims to be used as a benchmark for schools and teachers in seeing the extent to which the implementation and success of the learning method variations. The approach in this study was descriptive qualitative, taking the background of MTs Yapi Pakem. Data collection was done by using observation, interviews, and documentation methods. To check the data validity, triangulation of sources, techniques, and time was carried out. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique consisted of data reduction, data presentation by giving meaning to the data collected, and from that meaning, conclusions or verification were drawn. This study’s results revealed that 1) in the implementation of the seventh-grade fiqh learning at MTs Yapi Pakem, various learning methods had been used. Meanwhile, the combination variations included lectures - question and answer – assignments, lecture-discussion - question and answer, lecture - assignment - question and answer. 2) For its implementation from planning to implementation, its use was quite good but still lacking in evaluation.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the implementation of online learning conducted by teachers to provide the best service to students. This can be seen from health, fitness, spirit, duration of services related to education, applications used, signal conditions, teacher readiness in providing services outside the provisions of working hours, available learning facilities, and several other online learning activities Covid-19 pandemic. This study involved 254 vocational school teachers in Solo Raya. Quantitative data is netted through questionnaires that are disseminated using Google Form facilities. Meanwhile, we obtained qualitative information from interviews designed using WhatsApp and telephone facilities. The results showed that 52.2% of teachers admitted to agreeing not to have any health complaints. Teachers are always fit for online learning, with 58.9% agreeing. Teachers were always excited when they were online, with 68.4% answering agreed. The implementation of online learning requires more service time. 64.9% of teachers provide services about 14 hours per day. 64.1% of teachers agreed that they are ready to provide online services to students outside the working hours. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed various aspects of human life today, especially in education, which requires all elements of education to keep the classroom active, even though it is done online. For this reason, this study aims to determine the effect of applying scientific-based electronic natural science modules to improve learning outcomes in aspects of students' knowledge of vibration and wave material. The method used was an experimental method with a posttest-only control group design. The data collection instrument employed was multiple-choice test questions totaling 20 items. The sample in this study consisted of 30 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. The data analysis utilized was in the Mann-Whitney U test to determine the differences in the mean posttest score between the experimental and control classes. The results revealed that the learning outcomes of the knowledge aspect in the experimental class were better than the control class. Based on the descriptive analysis results, the mean posttest score of the experimental class was higher than the control class, and the Mann-Whitney U test results were 0.000; thus, H0 was rejected, and H1 was accepted. In addition, the application of scientific-based electronic natural science modules improves the learning outcomes of students' knowledge aspects better.

Abstract

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made education world always innovate in the learning process. Various applications and online learning strategies have become a new culture for educators and students. For this reason, this study aims to analyze the implementation, advantages, and disadvantages of the Moodle LMS in learning Islamic education at the elementary school level during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used a qualitative-descriptive approach. Utilizing interview and observation data collection techniques, this study’s results revealed that the learning process of Islamic education was divided into three stages. The initial stage was the activity of opening by the teacher to students. Followed by the core stage, students carried out instructions by the teacher to access the Moodle according to the agreed time period. The last stage was the closing stage, where the teacher and students returned face to face to evaluate and pray together. Meanwhile, the advantages of Moodle LMS in learning covered a free and easy to use platform and supported several document types for the learning process. However, the disadvantages consisted of some foreign features for students, and the access times were slow if the owned bandwidth was not qualified.

Abstract

Practicing problem-solving can increase students' confidence outside of the mathematics field. Meanwhile, students who have different mathematical abilities have different problem-solving abilities in solving problems. Therefore, this research aims to describe students' problem-solving abilities in terms of mathematical abilities by using qualitative descriptive research methods. The subjects were three students with high, medium, and low abilities, while the main instrument was the researcher himself, supported by test and interview instruments. The results of high and moderate students exploring and understanding the problem showed the reluctance to write in detail on the answer sheet for the information known and problem asked in the questions, then delivered it in the interview session. In contrastNTS, the low-ability students wrote in great detail. At the stage of representing and formulating, high, medium, and low students used the same terms and formulas. At the stage of planning and implementing, the three students used various methods. However, the three students acquired the same answer and rechecked the results with what was known in the questions.

Abstract

Nowadays, learning media is growing in line with the rapid development of information technology. This research was conducted in connection with the need for learning media that can be used anywhere and anytime without any limitation of place and time. This study aims to develop online learning media products for geography learning. The research method used was the Research and Development (R&D) method. The research subjects were students of class X Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Wonosobo. Data collection techniques used the methods of observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Questionnaires were employed to determine the feasibility of online-based learning media, whereas data analysis techniques utilized percentage techniques. From the study results, it can be concluded that the online-based learning media developed can be said to be good by experts. It can be seen from the testing results on students to determine the level of media feasibility based on predetermined criteria/indicators. Thus, this learning media deserves to be used as an alternative learning media with a good category (88%), namely with details on educational criteria with good results (93%), appearance criteria with good results (85%), and technical criteria with good results (89%). Hence, online-based learning media for geography class X is feasible to use as a choice of digital learning media.

Abstract

This paper aims to describe platforms in mobile learning during the pandemic. This writing was motivated by an uncontrolled pandemic that made several aspects uncontrollable, including education, so learning activities were forced to change. Therefore, there is a need to update learning through learning media with several platforms available for mobile learning. This online platform in mobile learning is a medium that can solve students' problems during a pandemic that helps the learning process run. The method used in this paper was to use a literature study that examined several sources of articles from research results published to be analyzed and draw conclusions. This paper indicated that platforms such as Google Classroom, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams could solve problems during the pandemic. The average result was more than 60% based on the data presented. This figure is considered to have reached the effective criteria. Learning using online platforms, such as Google Classroom, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams, can be an alternative and help activate students when offline learning cannot be carried out, even mobile-based learning media.

Abstract

This research article aims to determine whether the development of teaching materials can positively impact and improve students' soft skills during the learning process. This qualitative research used the literature study method. Based on the explanation, the development of teaching material is closely related to learning planning. Teaching materials have become one of the components in the learning process, in which the design must follow the learning principles. Teaching materials also need to include instructions on how to learn, competencies to be achieved, lesson content, practice questions, work instructions, and assessments. Moreover, various teaching materials have been developed in Islamic Education subjects for higher education to help achieve the planned learning objectives in its development. Some developments of these teaching materials include Augmented Reality (AR), Islamic glossary applications, infographics, and animated infographics, analyzed in this article. These various developments of teaching materials are creative and innovative. Utilizing these technologies needs to be studied more deeply to produce effective teaching materials that can keep up with the times and improve students' soft skills.
