Abstract

The role of secondary education in the 21st century is increasingly vital for preparing students who will enter higher education and responding to the learning transition due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This form of response is by reviewing the orientation of the Arabic language curriculum in secondary education in South Sumatera. So, this research aims to analyze the reorientation of the Arabic language curriculum in secondary education in South Sumatera. The research method used by researchers is a case study method with a multisite design. Researchers collected qualitative data by interviews, observation and documentation in each place, then proceed with generalizations from the data collection results, and then conclusions are drawn as research data findings. The results of this research show that both schools had efforts to direct students to be active in learning Arabic, namely by changing books and adding books that support ongoing Arabic language learning activities, the schools also provide a conducive environment for the learning process. To convey this material, the teacher also chooses a student-centered method, hoping that students will always be active and that Arabic will not only end up as a language of study. As a measure of achievement, teachers have maximized the provision of media-based assignments and exam questions, even though the measurement techniques carried out by teachers have only focused on cognitive measurements, and have not yet entered into the affective and psychomotor domains.

Abstract

Gender issues have garnered considerable attention from researchers, women's campaigners, and society at large. The perspectives held by individuals are grounded on cultural, religious, and ideological frameworks. The religious perspectives, such as those rooted in Islam, draw upon the Qur’an and its translation as primary source. The comprehension of translation is purportedly intricately linked to the underlying ideology that informs the translation process. This study aimed to offer a formulation of ideology that may be utilized to sustain the notion of gender as shown in the translated text. In order to accomplish this objective, an analysis was conducted on the translation of Quranic verses that encompass words pertaining to women, specifically al-umm, al-wālidah, az-zauj, al-'imra`ah, an-nisa`, an-niswah, and al-untsa, employing a series of steps. Those steps were examining the translation technique, identifying the underlying ideology associated with the technique, evaluating the accuracy of the conveyed meaning, engaging in a discussion, and formulating a conclusion. Moreover, this study included the cumulative sum of the seven terms amounted to 146 units, which were extracted from The Qur’an and Its Translation as published by the Ministry of Religion. The findings of this study indicate that gender concepts are translated in a literal manner. This approach demonstrates the adoption of the foreignization ideology in translation, which prioritizes the source language and the precise conveyance of its meaning. The utilization of the idea is further reinforced by the assertion that the seven terms are faithfully translated, except for the term imra'ah, which is rendered as wife, a translation that is deemed to be inaccurate.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of Arabic listening and articulation skills and their relationship with Arabic language skills among non-native speakers in children's boarding schools in Lampung Province. The research approach was correlational. The research participants were children of boarding students at Hidayatul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School, Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, and Al-Imam Islamic Boarding School, Lampung Province. The selected respondents were children aged 7-9 years. The data collection instrument was a test. The research findings show the significant value of listening and articulation skills based on gender, age, Qur'an learning experience, the number of memorized Qur'an owned, parental income, and geographical area of residence is 0.000 <0.05. This value demonstrates the significant influence of these variables on children's listening and articulation skills. The analysis results show that the correlation coefficient of the listening ability and articulation ability variables is 0.370 and 0.621, which means that the strength of the relationship between each variable and Arabic language skills has sufficient and robust criteria. Both values are positive, showing that the effect is unidirectional. The significance values of 0.873 and 0.015> 0.05 show positive signs, meaning a significant relationship exists between listening ability and articulation with Arabic language skills. This means the rise will follow increased listening and articulation ability variables in children's Arabic language skills. The calculation result of the coefficient of determination or R square value is 0.725. This implies that listening ability and articulation affect the Arabic language proficiency variable by 72.5%. Other variables might influence the remaining percentage.

Abstract

This research aims to measure the effectiveness of using TGT (Teams-Games-Tournaments) and S&T (Show and Tell) methods in improving students' mastery of Arabic vocabulary at Madrasah Tsanawiyyah Negeri (MTsN) 1 in Kota Batu, Malang, East Java. This research utilizes a quantitative methodology employing a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group design. The collected data undergo analysis through descriptive statistical tests, assessments for normality using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, and independent sample t-test. Compared to the control group, the results show a significant improvement in Arabic vocabulary mastery among students involved in the experimental group receiving TGT and S&T treatments. These findings highlight the potential of a collaborative approach between TGT and S&T methods in creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment, enhancing students' comprehension through group interaction and competitive activities. Additionally, literature supports the effectiveness of TGT and S&T methods in improving learning outcomes and student motivation. Thus, this research makes a significant contribution to enriching understanding of the use of innovative teaching approaches in language learning contexts, as well as providing a solid foundation for more effective pedagogical approaches in the future.
