Abstract

This study aims to examine the execution of the social-emotional learning approach in the elementary school of the Fun School Movement (FSM) model. This study was a qualitative approach. The informants in this study were first-grade teachers, school principals, and first-grade students of the elementary school of the Fun School Movement (FSM) model. The data collection techniques were in the form of semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and documentation studies. The data analysis involved the process of data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The validity of the data was tested through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results show that the implementation of the SEL approach in the classroom is designed by the class teacher, such as discussions, morning sharing, giving affection stars, appreciation, class agreements, group work, circle time, and reflection, while learning activities outside the classroom are integrated into the agenda or school habituation program.

Abstract

Less than optimal student learning outcomes are a problem experienced by teachers in elementary schools. It is evidenced by the student learning outcomes that have not been maximized. The objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive description of the effectiveness of incorporating e-books into the learning process. This study used a quantitative approach with a time series design. The research subjects consisted of elementary school students and teachers. The student subjects involved came from the fifth-grade level. Data collection was done by testing and observation. Data analysis was performed by testing four trend models. These are the Linear Trend Model, Quadratic Trend Model, Growth Curve Model, and S-Curve Trend Model. The research findings indicate that e-books are a viable tool for facilitating learning in elementary school settings. It is based on the positive trend shown in student learning outcomes after applying the e-book as a learning tool. It strengthens the recommendation regarding implementing e-books by teachers to maximize student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to measure and determine, through analysis, the textbooks used by elementary school students, especially in mathematics. The analysis seeks to examine how the aspects of culturally responsive teaching (CRT) in the textbook supports meaningful learning and supports the aspects of "Profil Pelajar Pancasila", specifically the global diversity in the "Kurikulum Merdeka". This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach with a content analysis technique. The data source consists of mathematics teaching materials from the 4th-grade student textbooks, focusing on theme 5 "My Heroes," published by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Data collection was conducted through observation and documentation. The analysis includes the presentation of the material, consistency of the theme, consistency of learning outcomes, mathematics representation, and the three aspects of culturally responsive teaching. The results indicate that the contextual aspect of CRT is the most dominant in presenting meaningful learning. The CRT aspects in the textbooks, including explanations of concepts and examples of pictures presented, show that 8% are related to educational values, 11% to artifacts, and 81% to contextual meaning. The mathematics representation is appropriate with the theme and the learning outcomes. Therefore the teachers must provide additional learning on CRT aspects that are still lacking in textbooks.

Abstract

This study attempts to develop a collaborative-based learning model that can increase self-efficacy and positive attitudes of Primary Teacher Education (PGSD) students toward inclusive education in Indonesia. This study is intended to provide an understanding to PGSD students who are also teacher candidates. The understanding is about the importance of positive attitudes and teaching abilities, which in this study are limited in self-efficacy. The present study employed the Research and Development (R & D) research model. The research participants were elementary school teachers who teach in inclusive schools and 54 PGSD students. Quantitative and qualitative techniques were used to analyze the data. Mann–Whitney U test was used to determine changes in students' self-efficacy and attitudes before and after learning activities. The results indicate a significant difference in self-efficacy with p sig < 0.05. The t-test result is 0.119. As the tcount is greater than the ttable (0.119 > 0.05), it indicates that there is no significant difference. Hence, it can be inferred that there is no statistically significant difference in developing a collaborative-based lecture model aimed at enhancing self-efficacy and fostering favorable attitudes among PGSD students towards inclusive education in Yogyakarta.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the difference in critical thinking skills between students taught using problem-based learning and expository learning, and (2) the influence of implementing problem-based learning on students' critical thinking skills. This study was quasi-experimental research. The study population consisted only of fifth-grade students from SD Negeri 2 Krikilan. In the experimental group, the learning process took place using the problem-based learning model, while in the control group, it took place in an expository manner. The instruments used were tests that measure students' critical thinking abilities in cognitive aspects and a behavioral scale that measures students' critical thinking abilities in behavioral aspects. The data were then analyzed using: (1) descriptive statistics to describe critical thinking skills and learning outcomes, and (2) inferential statistics using independent sample t-tests and MANOVA to test the research hypotheses at a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05). The research findings indicate that: (1) there is a significant difference in students' critical thinking skills between the group taught using problem-based learning and the group taught using expository learning, with a p-value of 0.004, and (2) the implementation of problem-based learning positively and significantly influences students' critical thinking skills, with a significance value of 0.005.

Abstract

The development of online tutoring services suggests that Indonesian education faces significant challenges. The purpose of this study is to investigate the issue of educational affordability that arises as a result of the creation of numerous tutoring services in Indonesia. This study used a descriptive research model and a qualitative methodology. This research data takes the form of literature from studies on the existence of elementary school tutoring institutions in Indonesia with all its issues, which are examined from a phenomenological point of view. The findings indicated that public mistrust in the caliber of education provided in formal schools contributed to the rise of online tutoring services at the elementary school level. Students are beginning to choose to employ online tutoring services due to tedious coursework and the ineffectiveness of learning implementation in traditional elementary schools. This article suggests that the government cooperate with the private sector and education innovators to create media and learning methods that are efficient, enjoyable, and still affordable for everyone to address the deficiencies in Indonesia's formal education system.

Abstract

Students' critical and creative thinking skills are important in developing elementary school student's knowledge. However, many still found that elementary school students critical and creative thinking skills are still low. This condition is caused by learning that has not been able to facilitate the learning characteristics of elementary school students, especially in terms of the use of learning media in elementary schools. This study aims to develop picture storybook learning media regarding fifth-grade students' critical and creative thinking skills at SD Cluster IV Sintang. The method employed in this study was research and development of the Borg & Gall model with ten stages consisting of: 1) research and information gathering, 2) planning, 3) initial product development, 4) initial field testing, 5) major product revision, 6) main product testing, 7) operational product revision, 8) operational field testing, 9) final product revision, and 10) dissemination and implementation. Data were collected utilizing interview techniques, expert validation, teacher and student response questionnaires, and critical and creative thinking skill test instruments. The results of this study indicate that the development of picture storybook learning media meets the aspects of quality, practicality, and product effectiveness in terms of the critical and creative thinking skills of fifth-grade elementary school students.
