Abstract

Learning media plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of education by serving as a tool for teachers to deliver material effectively. This study aims to develop Linktree-based learning media for Indonesian language instruction to improve students’ understanding of identifying the main idea in narrative texts for grade V at MI Guppi Jatimalang. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, following the Borg and Gall development model. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and questionnaires distributed to teachers and students to assess their needs. Data analysis included feasibility and effectiveness testing of the learning media. The feasibility test results, based on expert validation, indicated scores of 89.2% from material experts and 88.4% from media experts, both categorized as “very feasible.” The effectiveness test, measured using N-Gain analysis, showed a result of 0.6076, placing it in the medium category. These findings suggest that the Linktree-based learning media is effective in supporting learning and enhancing students’ ability to identify the main idea in narrative texts. Its use is also expected to foster students’ motivation and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The lack of use of learning media at Kutowinangun 08 Salatiga Elementary School causes the learning outcomes of water cycle material in class V to be low. Based on these problems, this study aims to develop and test the feasibility and effectiveness of diorama media on water cycle material, hereinafter referred to as PBL-based SIAR in Grade V. This R&D research adapted nine of the ten steps of the Borg and Gall development model. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected using both test and non-test techniques, including questionnaire instruments, observation, interviews, and documentation. These data were then analyzed both descriptively and inferentially. The developed media was validated by media experts and material experts, who applied very valid criteria, achieving percentages of 82% and 90.67%. Based on the results of the paired sample t-test, it is evident that the significance value is 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that the product developed is effective in improving student learning outcomes. The N-Gain test results obtained a gain value of 0.64 (medium). Based on the results of the response questionnaire, it was received very positively by teachers and students. From these results, it can be concluded that the diorama media SIAR (water cycle) based on PBL developed is highly feasible and effective in improving the learning outcomes of IPAS fifth-grade students at Kutowinangun 08 Salatiga State Elementary School. The contribution of this research to existing knowledge is twofold: it serves as an alternative and enriches the literature on SIAR diorama media based on PBL, which has been proven effective in improving learning outcomes for water cycle material, and provides new insights as a reference for further learning.

Abstract

Batam City, an industrial hub in the Riau Kepulauan Province, Indonesia, boasts a significant immigrant population and occupies a strategic position along international shipping routes, bordering other nations. The city experiences one of the fastest population growth rates in Indonesia, including a surge in student numbers. The current number of elementary school students and the number of junior high and high school students in the next few years play an important role  for sustainable development, aligning with the government's Golden Indonesia Vision 2045, which aims to cultivate a high-quality and productive generation. To support this initiative, accurate projections of student numbers, particularly in high schools, are essential. This study focuses on forecasting the number of senior secondary school students in Batam City for 2035. Utilizing data from the Batam City Statistics Agency spanning 2019 to 2022. To achieve the research goals, the authors employed the Smoothing Exponential Brown Parameter to project figures for 2023-2035. The optimal projection was achieved with α=0.99, estimating 29,988 high school students in Batam City by 2030 and 34,775 by 2035. The research findings indicate that the Batam City government is highly recommended to formulating the policies and planning to establish 18 new secondary schools, addressing potential shortages in classrooms and educational institutions. Additionally, the study urges the local government need to ensure the availability of 1,879 teachers of secondary school by 2035 in Batam City. These projections can assist the administration in effectively planning for educational resources to deliver quality education by 2025, contributing to the realization of the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045

Abstract

This study explores the comparative implementation of honesty character education in elementary schools across four countries: Indonesia, New Zealand, Finland, and Japan. Honesty, as a core moral value, is widely acknowledged, yet its pedagogical realization varies across educational systems. Using a qualitative comparative literature review approach, this research examines how honesty is defined, integratd into curricula, delivered through pedagogical strategies, and supported by sociocultural contexts. The analysis reveals that Finland and Japan demonstrate systemic coherence in cultivating honesty-Finland through a trust-based and student-centered approach, and Japan through formal moral education (doutoku) and cultural internalization of makoto. New Zealand promotes honesty through democratic classroom practices and formative assessment. Indonesia, while normatively embracing honesty through curriculum policy, often lacks consistency in classroom implementation and parental collaboration. Findings also highlight the critical role of teacher modeling, student agency, and family-school alignment in reinforcing honest behavior. The study recommends that Indonesia enhance its honesty education through explicit curricular design, pedagogical training for value-based teaching, and increased family engagement. By adopting adaptable practices from global exemplars, Indonesia can strengthen its efforts in developing integrity-driven students equipped for ethical citizenship. This study contributes to the discourse on character education by offering practical insights grounded in cross-cultural comparison.
