Abstract

Students' difficulties in learning mathematics in elementary school are caused by its abstract nature and the use of models and teaching materials that are less interesting. Therefore, innovation is needed by providing technology-based teaching materials and linking the material to real problems such as worksheet.. This study aims to develop an interactive AR-based worksheet containing Indonesian culture that is valid and practical as an alternative teaching material and can help the learning process become more interesting. This research method is a Borg & Gall model development research with procedures including potential and problems, data collection, design planning, assessment, revision, usability testing, and final revision. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews and questionnaires. The product validity data analysis technique was carried out by calculating the percentage of the value. The validation results from material experts were 88.5%, media experts 84.5%, and cultural experts 86.8%. Therefore, the overall validation results can be categorized as very valid. The practicality test was conducted by administering a student response questionnaire, with a result of 81.9%, thus categorizing it as very practical. Therefore, it can be concluded that the development of AR-based interactive student worksheets (LKPD) with Indonesian cultural content on fractions is valid and practical for use.

Abstract

Abstract

The use of unengaging and decontextualized worksheets has been identified as a significant barrier to the effective learning of mathematical concepts in elementary schools, leading to diminished student interests and understanding. This study aims to address this issue by developing interactive student worksheets grounded in Malay ethnomathematics, specifically tailored for teaching addition and subtraction to second-grade elementary students. An ethnographic approach was adopted to integrate ethnomathematical concepts with local cultural contexts, thereby enhancing the relevance and engagement of the learning experience. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) methodology, utilizing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) as the framework for development. Data collection was collected through interviews, observations, and questionnaires, with a sample size of sixteen students. The findings of the study revealed the following: (1) The quality of the developed student worksheets was categorized as valid, based on evaluations by three validators specializing in language, content, and media. The validation scores were 93% for language, 93% for content, and 100% for media. (2) The practicality of the worksheets was assessed by both teachers and students, with teachers rating the practicality at 82% and students at 81%. In conclusion, the developed student worksheets were found to be both valid and practical, making them suitable for implementation in elementary school settings. This study underscores the potential of culturally contextualized educational materials to enhance students’ engagement and understanding in mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of the concepts of algebraic functions and geometry in the traditional architecture of Bale Sade, a traditional house of the Sasak people in Lombok, through an ethnomathematics approach. Although previous studies have highlighted geometric aspects in Sasak arts and crafts, in-depth studies of the application of algebraic and geometric principles in traditional building structures are limited. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, through field observations in Rembitan Village, Pujut Subdistrict, interviews with several resource persons, TA (Traditional Leaders), and PW (Tour Guides), and documentation in Rembitan Village, Pujut Subdistrict, Central Lombok. Data analysis refers to the Miles and Huberman model which includes collecting, reducing, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the structure of Bale Sade reflects mathematical principles such as symmetry, proportion, and geometric balance, as well as the application of algebra in calculating dimensions and efficient use of materials. In addition to functioning as a residence, Bale Sade reflects local wisdom that is closely related to cultural and environmental values. While previous studies have highlighted geometric aspects in the arts and crafts of the Sasak people, this study also makes an in-depth contribution to the application of algebraic and geometric principles in traditional building structures. This research recommends further studies that highlight the resilience of traditional architecture to climate change and the potential integration of modern technology in design without losing cultural values.

Abstract

This research aims to describe errors and determine the factors that cause errors in solving geometry problems in terms of students' mixed Florence Littauer personality types. This research is qualitative descriptive research. The subjects of this research were ninth-grade students at SMPN 13 Malang who had been given material on "similarity and congruence of triangles". Data collection techniques include questionnaires, test questions, interviews. Data analysis techniques in this research include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data uses triangulation techniques through the results of test questions and interviews. The results of the research can be concluded that students with mixed natural personality types (SCA) make five errors, namely reading errors, understanding errors, transformation errors, process skills errors, and errors in writing the final answer. Students with mixed-complementary personality types (SCP) have one error, namely an error in writing the final answer. Students with the opposite personality type (SCL) experienced two errors in answering geometry questions, namely transformation errors and process skill errors. The factors that cause errors are (a) not being able to understand the geometry material well, (b) being weak in the prerequisite material, and (c) carelessness made by students when solving geometry problems.
