Abstract

The phenomenon of changes in the meaning of loanwords in modern Indonesian occurs without adequate linguistic supervision, potentially leading to ambiguity. The urgency of this research lies in the need to map changes in meaning influenced by digital media, the social environment, and culture. The purpose of this study is to analyse the types and patterns of changes in the meaning of loanwords in the modern Indonesian corpus and to understand the perceptions of young users towards this phenomenon. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach supported by quantitative data. The sample size was 260 elementary school students in Kefamenanu City, selected purposively. Data collection techniques were carried out through corpus analysis, closed-ended surveys with a Likert scale, and structured interviews. Data analysis techniques combined descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The results show that the meaning of words such as event, platform, and literacy has shifted significantly from their original meaning due to the influence of media and social usage. In conclusion, the meaning of loanwords is dynamic and contextual. The implications of these findings indicate the need to integrate material on changes in meaning in language learning and the development of language policies that are adaptive to the semantic developments of modern society.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into primary education curriculum governance remains constrained by conceptual ambiguity, ethical concerns, and digital inequalities, particularly in under-resourced education systems where technological readiness is limited. This study addresses these challenges by conducting a systematic literature review to explore how AI can be ethically, effectively, and contextually embedded into curriculum decision-making. Grounded in five theoretical frameworks—Data-Driven Decision Making, Adaptive Learning, AI-Based Decision Support Systems, Contextual Curriculum Design, and Technology Ethics in Education—the review synthesizes findings from peer-reviewed publications over the past decade. Results reveal that AI holds significant potential to strengthen curriculum planning through real-time assessment, personalized learning trajectories, and prescriptive analytics that enhance evidence-based decisions. Nevertheless, systemic barriers such as poor digital infrastructure, limited AI literacy among educators, and fragmented policy directions continue to hinder large-scale adoption and sustainability. To respond to these challenges, the study proposes an integrative conceptual model that repositions AI not merely as a technological tool but as an ethically grounded and contextually adaptive agent within curriculum governance. Such a model emphasizes that the meaningful and equitable application of AI requires strong cross-sectoral collaboration, coherent policy alignment, and sustained capacity-building initiatives. By advancing this perspective, the study underscores the importance of positioning AI as a catalyst for inclusive and transformative educational change, ensuring that technological innovation aligns with ethical imperatives and local contextual needs.

Abstract

Reproductive health issues among adolescent girls are a global concern, particularly during early adolescence, a critical phase that significantly influences the quality of future generations. This study aimed to identify changes in growth, development, and knowledge related to reproductive health among girls aged 9–12 years, a period classified as early adolescence. The study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 263 adolescent girls were selected using purposive sampling. The findings revealed that 52.47% of the participants were categorized as underweight, indicating nutritional problems that may have serious implications for reproductive health. Adolescent girls with poor nutritional status are at risk of reproductive function disorders, including irregular menstrual cycles and reduced reproductive health quality. In the long term, this condition may increase the likelihood of giving birth to babies with low birth weight (LBW), a significant factor contributing to stunting in the next generation. These findings highlight the urgent need for multidisciplinary interventions, including reproductive health education at the primary education level, to foster awareness and concern for reproductive health. Developing caring character and promoting reproductive health awareness among adolescent girls are vital as part of a long-term investment in sustainable national development.

Abstract

This study investigates the main factors causing difficulties faced by PGSD students in learning mathematics, driven by internal issues like low motivation and anxiety, as well as external factors such as teaching methods and the learning environment. The findings aim to serve as a foundation for improvements in teaching practices, student support, and institutional strategies. This study used a mixed-methods survey design using factor analysis to identify the underlying dimensions of students’ learning difficulties. The population comprised second-semester PGSD students at Ahmad Dahlan University (2024/2025), with 41 survey participants. Instruments included an observation checklist, a structured questionnaire, and a semi-structured interview guide. The collected data were tested for validity using the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequacy and Bartlett's Test of Sphericity. The MSA value was 0.707 in the first stage and 0.751 in the second stage, both exceeding the threshold of 0.50. Bartlett's Test showed a significance level of 0.00, which is smaller than 0.05, indicating that the data is suitable for factor analysis. The results showed that there are four main factors that contribute to students' difficulties in learning mathematics, namely: (1) Learning and Academic Support Factor (eigenvalue 4.858, variance 34.703%), (2) Individual Ability and Attitude Factor (eigenvalue 2.156, variance 15.396%), (3) Family Environment Factor (eigenvalue 1.639, variance 11.710%), and (4) Health Factor (eigenvalue 1.171, variance 8.363%). These findings were supported by interviews with six students, whose experiences aligned with the identified factors, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the challenges they faced in learning mathematics.

Abstract

Understanding the types of texts is an important aspect in strengthening the basic literacy of elementary school students, especially in Indonesian subjects. However, low affective readiness such as attitude, interest, and motivation to learn is often an obstacle in achieving optimal learning outcomes. This study aims to examine the influence of attitudes, interests, and learning motivation on the understanding of text type materials in grade IV and V students in one of the State Elementary Schools in Yogyakarta. The sample in this study amounted to 30 students who were taken using the saturated sample technique. This study uses a quantitative approach with correlational methods and multiple regression analysis. The instruments used were a questionnaire on the scale of attitudes, interests, and motivations, as well as a test of understanding the type of text. The results showed that simultaneously, three independent variables (attitude, interest, and motivation) had a significant influence on the understanding of the type of text, which was indicated by an R Square value of 0.964. However, only a fraction of the attitude and motivation variables showed a significant influence, while interest was not statistically significant. These results show that affective factors, especially attitudes and motivations, play an important role in supporting students' understanding of different types of texts. This research provides important implications in the development of Indonesian learning strategies that are more contextual and oriented to student character.

Abstract

Spatial ability plays an essential role in students’ cognitive development, particularly in learning mathematics and science. This study aims to map the initial profile of junior high school students’ visual–spatial ability by emphasizing five cognitive indicators: spatial perception, spatial visualization, mental rotation, spatial relations, and spatial orientation. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, combining a quantitative descriptive design with qualitative data from interviews. The quantitative instrument consisted of five validated essay test items with acceptable reliability (α = 0.78). The research subjects were 23 ninth-grade students from a junior high school in Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu. The analysis revealed that 43.48% of students were in the low category, 47.83% in the medium category, and only 8.69% reached the high category. The highest achievement was found in the spatial perception indicator (91.30%), while the lowest was in mental rotation (34.78%). Interview data supported the quantitative findings, showing that students still experienced difficulties in mentally manipulating objects. These findings highlight the importance of spatial skills in supporting the understanding of geometric concepts and indicate the need for instructional strategies that place greater emphasis on visualization and rotation aspects. This study is expected to serve as a foundation for developing effective, adaptive, and contextual spatial-based mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a thematic-based physical activity model to improve physical literacy in early childhood and to test its effectiveness. The method used is research and development (RD) following the ADDIE procedure, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research sample consisted of 41 children aged 4-5 years. Instruments used were a needs analysis questionnaire, validation questionnaires from experts on the physical activity model and physical literacy, a learning module validation questionnaire, and a physical literacy observation sheet. The findings show that the developed model is very good. The effectiveness test using a pre-experimental design showed a significant improvement in children's physical literacy, with an average pretest score of 68.2 and posttest score of 89, and an N-gain score of 0.52 (moderate category). Interview results indicated a positive impact of the model on children's holistic development, including increased confidence, cooperation, and motivation for physical activity, despite challenges such as limited facilities, classroom management, and children's egocentric attitudes. In conclusion, the thematic-based physical activity model is feasible for use in learning and effective in improving physical literacy in early childhood. According to these findings, early childhood educators can improve children's physical, psychological, social, and cognitive development by incorporating thematic physical activities. They can also promote its inclusion in national literacy policies.

Abstract

The problem raised in this study is the low ability of elementary school children to express emotions and build self-confidence verbally. This study aims to explore the role of poetry writing activities as a medium of expression to support the process of emotion regulation and self-strengthening among students. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research involved six fifth-grade students of a public elementary school. Poetry writing activities were conducted regularly over six sessions across two months. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, documentation of students’ poetry works, and teacher reflection notes as the main research instruments. The findings show that repeated poetry writing activities created a safe and flexible symbolic space for children to express feelings that were previously difficult to convey verbally. Through sustained engagement, students reported feeling relieved, happy, and motivated to continue writing outside of class. Positive changes were observed in emotional openness, self-reflection, and active classroom participation. These developments emerged gradually, indicating that the emotional and self-strengthening benefits of poetry writing require consistent practice rather than a single intervention. In conclusion, regularly implemented poetry writing serves as an effective reflective and expressive learning approach, playing an important role in fostering emotion regulation and providing an early foundation for the self-strengthening of elementary school children.

Abstract

The learning process of Islamic cultural history in elementary schools is often dominated by conventional methods such as lectures and textbook readings, which can lead to low student engagement, limited understanding, and reduced learning motivation. These challenges indicate the need for alternative instructional media that are more interactive and appealing to students. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of using movie media in improving students' cognitive understanding and self-efficacy in learning Islamic culture. This study uses a quantitative approach with a group pretest–posttest experimental design, conducted in three phases: pretest, treatment using movie media, and posttest to assess changes in students’ understanding and self-efficacy. Fifteen fourth- through sixth-graders made up the study's population. Pre- and post-test data show that the kids' learning outcomes have improved dramatically. After receiving therapy, which included of seeing an animated film on the life of Prophet Ayyub AS, the subjects' scores improved from 22 on the pretest to 23. experienced an average increase to 65. Therefore, movie learning media is effective in increasing elementary school students' understanding of Islamic cultural history. The implications of this research emphasize the potential of movie media as an effective alternative to traditional text-based methods in enhancing students’ understanding of Islamic cultural learning.
