Abstract

This study examines the relationship between ESG performance, busy directors, and corporate dividend policies, moderated by cash flow rights and control rights. Using panel data regression analysis, the research focuses on non-financial firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2017 to 2022. As Indonesia's capital market grows, companies face pressure to create stakeholder value while remaining competitive. Investors push firms to balance ESG investments with shareholder rewards. The presence of busy directors, serving on multiple boards, raises questions about their impact on dividend policies. Given Indonesia's concentrated market, this study introduces ownership concentration as a moderating factor, addressing a gap in the literature. The results show that ESG performance and busy directors positively impact dividend policies. Firms with strong ESG practices maintain consistent dividend payments, reflecting their commitment to stakeholders and shareholders. Busy directors improve dividend policies, aligning with the perception of high-caliber boards reducing agency costs. Cash flow rights moderate the impact of ESG performance on dividend policies, while control rights weaken this influence. However, neither variable significantly affects the relationship between busy directors and dividend policies. This research provides insights into the interplay between ESG practices, director commitments, and dividend policies in Indonesia's dynamic business environment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) applied by the central government to regions up to the village level, through programs tailored to local conditions. Sustainable development is expected to reduce inequality between villages and cities. However, its implementation in South Nias Regency still faces obstacles, especially in the allocation of village funds that have not had a significant impact on the development and economy of the community. This problem is related to politics, unilateral policies, and the slow process of fund disbursement, which has led to community complaints due to the lack of income and support from the government. The research was conducted in Botohili Sorake Village, with the aim of analyzing the influence of Village SDGs, Village Funds, and Tourism Strategic Plan on tourist visits and household welfare. The research sample consisted of 200 households with data collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) method with Amos version 23.0 software. The results showed that the variables of Village SDGs, Village Fund, and Tourism Strategic Plan had a significant effect on tourist visits. However, only the Tourism Strategic Plan has a significant effect on household welfare, while the Village SDGs and Village Fund do not. This study recommends that the government manage village funds wisely and transparently, and support infrastructure development and tourism promotion. In addition, it is important to work with educational institutions to improve people's understanding of the SDGs, which can ultimately improve their welfare.

It's crucial to discuss food and drink in daily life. The aforementioned food and beverage must meet the requirements set down by sharia, which include being pure, beneficial, and harm-free. Thus, it is crucial for traders to comprehend this in the food and beverage industry. This study discovered that, out of 51 samples of respondents, 25 food and drink vendors at the Sudirman Campus setting of the Raden Fatah State Islamic University of Palembang did not comprehend halallan thayyiban, while 13 traders did. Even so, the majority of them were just aware of what halal meant; they had no idea what thayyiban meant. Compared to food and beverages that are purchased already prepared and then resold, processing food to meet halal and thayyib regulations requires more capital. So that providing for a resilient family's everyday necessities is still challenging.

The research focuses on four tourist villages, namely Penglipuran (Bali), Nglanggeran (Yogyakarta), Setanggor (West Nusa Tenggara), and Belitar Seberang (Bengkulu). This research uses a mixed method approach. The Sustainable Tourism Index from The Economist Intelligence Unit was developed in measuring the Sustainable Tourism Index of Tourism Villages in Indonesia. All tourist villages in Indonesia have conducted cooperation between public and private stakeholders and have conducted an inventory of tourism assets. Most of the tourist villages have village regulations on local tourism, milestones and action plans, monitoring and evaluation metrics as well as leasing and licensing for tourism activities and have a stable political environment. However, not all tourist villages have implemented global standards. In order to increase international tourist arrivals, global standards are needed in the management of tourism villages in Indonesia.
