Abstract

This research aims to examine various forms of regional language exclusion in the context of digital learning and its implications for language policy and access to education in remote areas. The approach employed is library research, involving a thorough review of various scientific journals, books, and relevant policy documents from the past decade. The study's findings indicate that regional language exclusion is reflected in several aspects, including the unavailability of learning content in local languages, a lack of teacher training related to the use of local languages, and centrally designed curricula that do not consider local linguistic diversity. This has resulted in increasing educational inequality, especially in 3T areas, where students struggle to understand the material due to the language of instruction being different from their mother tongue. This research reinforces the sociocultural constructivist perspective and a multilocal literacy approach, demonstrating a strong relationship between linguistic exclusion and disparities in access to digital education. The absence of regional languages in digital learning has broader implications, not only for students' understanding but also for their cultural identity and participation in learning. As a form of solution, this research recommends the implementation of culturally and contextually based digital learning strategies, such as the creation of bilingual content, teacher training in translingual approaches, and flexible and responsive educational policies to linguistic diversity. The integration of regional languages into digital systems is believed to create a fairer, more inclusive, and relevant education. The main contribution of this research lies in strengthening the direction of policies and educational practices that prioritize social and cultural justice in the digital era.

Abstract

The background of language research is not only as a communication tool, but also as a reflection of society's culture, values and social norms. So, the presence of language and pragmatics in this research has an important role in revealing more deeply what communication patterns are. This research aims to dig deeply into the analysis of pragmatic studies on aspects of Speaking Dell Hymes. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data sources Dialogue Script/Miracle in Cell Film Script No. 7 Indonesian version d an viewing the original video of the Film in the Prime Video application, a descriptive analysis research method using data analysis techniques in the Listen Technique, the Note technique, Data collection is collected through Data Transcription: Transcribing recorded data into text form and analyzing it based on the elements of the Speaking model. The analysis results show that this film contains 129 scenes with a duration of 00:00:00 to 02:21:46 (2 hours 21 minutes 46 seconds) with 129 communication segments which show complex and diverse interaction dynamics. There were 108 recorded data settings and scenes, 32 participants, 104 endings or speech objectives, 2 forms of act sequences, 3 key variations (tone and spirit), 2 types of instrumentalities (verbal and nonverbal), 1 interaction norm, and 2 types of delivery genres. The research results show that there are various forms of speech events that reflect the presence of the “speaking” aspect component  in  Miracle In Cell Film No. 7 Indonesian Version. This analysis makes a theoretical contribution to language learning through pragmatics and sociolinguistics, especially in understanding the social context of language use and increasing communicative competence through authentic media such as films. Thus, the Speaking aspect component can be used to analyze speech events in films that are still relevant using Dell Hymes theory as a knife for analyzing speech events in communication interactions using digital media.

Abstract

Linguistic politeness in everyday conversations is crucial for maintaining social relationships. However, in the context of digital media, particularly podcasts, linguistic politeness is often overlooked or unnoticed. The podcast Curhat Bang Denny Sumargo has become one of the platforms that feature informal conversations with various verbal expressions that can influence the understanding of linguistic politeness. This study aims to analyze expressive speech acts in the podcast and examine how linguistic politeness is applied in conversations between guests with specific social relationships. The method used is a qualitative approach with a corpus linguistics approach, and data is obtained from transcripts of episodes selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was done by listening to and transcribing each selected episode, and then analyzing it using expressive speech act theory, speech strategies, and the politeness principles of Brown and Levinson. The research results show that linguistic politeness in this podcast is greatly influenced by the social context and the relationships between the guests, as well as the expressive expressions used in different communication situations. In conclusion, this study reveals that expressive speech acts in the podcast provide insights into the application of linguistic politeness in digital media, which is often more relaxed and informal compared to face-to-face conversations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tantangan yang dihadapi guru dalam menerapkan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi pada mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia di tingkat sekolah menengah atas. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 7 Tanjungpinang dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif jenis fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi yang melibatkan tiga guru bahasa Indonesia kelas X. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru menghadapi beberapa tantangan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi, antara lain keterbatasan waktu, kondisi dan fokus belajar siswa, serta keterbatasan sarana dan prasarana pembelajaran. Waktu pembelajaran yang terbatas menjadi kendala dalam menyampaikan materi dengan pendekatan yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa yang beragam. Selain itu, ketidakhadiran dan kurangnya fokus siswa menjadi tantangan dalam menjaga partisipasi aktif selama proses pembelajaran. Di sisi lain, keterbatasan sarana dan prasarana, seperti proyektor dan buku ajar mendorong guru untuk memanfaatkan teknologi sebagai solusi. Meskipun demikian, para guru telah menunjukkan inisiatif dan adaptasi melalui berbagai strategi pembelajaran dan pemanfaatan perangkat teknologi seperti LMS dan WhatsApp, serta menciptakan suasana belajar yang menyenangkan dan adaptif. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi masukan dalam pengembangan strategi pembelajaran berdiferensiasi yang lebih efektif dan sesuai dengan prinsip Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan menulis siswa Sekolah Dasar, khususnya dalam menyusun cerita fiksi fabel yang terstruktur, imajinatif, dan koheren. Padahal, kemampuan menulis merupakan keterampilan literasi dasar yang penting dikembangkan sejak dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis cerita fabel siswa kelas III SD ditinjau dari aspek struktur, imajinasi, dan koherensi serta hubungannya dengan tingkat motivasi belajar menulis. Kebaruan dari penelitian ini terletak pada integrasi analisis linguistik dan psikopedagogis, yaitu mengaitkan kualitas tulisan siswa dengan profil motivasi mereka. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei kuantitatif eksploratif, dengan melibatkan 50 siswa dari satu SD di Gugus II Kecamatan Pulo Ampel sebagai sampel. Instrumen penelitian terdiri atas tes menulis dan kuesioner motivasi belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan menulis siswa secara umum berada pada kategori mulai berkembang (rata-rata skor 10,06 dari 18), sedangkan motivasi belajar menulis berada pada kategori sedang (rata-rata 43,82 dari 60). Terdapat hubungan positif namun lemah antara motivasi belajar dan kemampuan menulis (r = 0,367; p < 0,05). Temuan ini mengindikasikan perlunya penerapan model pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan kemampuan menulis dan memotivasi siswa secara bersamaan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penggunaan tindak tutur direktif oleh guru dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SMP Al-Madinah Islamic Boarding School. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari dua guru Bahasa Indonesia, yaitu Anggi Nofrizon dan Yasmin Delta Kori, yang dipilih berdasarkan perbedaan gaya mengajar untuk memperoleh variasi data. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode simak bebas libat cakap (SBLB), rekam, dan catat, dengan peneliti sebagai instrumen utama dibantu alat perekam (Redmi 12) dan catatan lapangan. Data berupa tuturan guru diklasifikasikan ke dalam bentuk tindak tutur direktif (meminta, memerintah, bertanya, melarang, memohon, dan memberi nasehat), strategi bertutur (bertutur terus terang, basa-basi kesantunan positif, basa-basi kesantunan negatif, bertutur samar-samar, dan bertutur dalam hati), serta dianalisis berdasarkan prinsip kesantunan berbahasa (maksim kebijaksanaan, maksim kesederhanaan, maksim penghargaan, maksim pemufakatan, dan maksim kesimpatian). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk tindak tutur yang paling dominan adalah bertanya (98 data), strategi bertutur yang paling sering digunakan adalah bertutur terus terang (170 data), dan prinsip kesantunan yang paling dominan adalah maksim penghargaan (145 data). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa guru cenderung menggunakan komunikasi langsung dan pertanyaan terbuka untuk meningkatkan partisipasi siswa, namun tetap perlu mempertimbangkan aspek kesantunan agar suasana belajar tetap mendukung dan humanis.

Abstract

Students are required to have creative thinking competencies to face challenges in the 21st century. Creative thinking is an ability that plays an important role in the 21st century because it helps students find solutions with new innovations. In Indonesian, this creative thinking competency can be used to write descriptive texts. The purpose of this study is to analyze the creative thinking competencies used by ninth-grade students of SMP Batik PK Surakarta in writing descriptive texts that focus on the structure of the description section. A qualitative approach is used in this study. The research method is a qualitative descriptive method. Document techniques and close reading techniques are the data collection techniques for this study. Content analysis techniques are chosen as the data analysis technique for this study. The results of the study show that 18.18% of students have moderate creative thinking competencies and 81.82% of students have high creative thinking competencies. From these results, it can be stated that the average ninth-grade students of SMP Batik PK Surakarta have high creative thinking competencies. The results of this study provide theoretical implications for the study of writing skills and show that there is a role of creative thinking competencies in compiling students' descriptive texts. The results of this study can be beneficial to various parties, such as teachers, students and schools. This research opens up opportunities for further research to continue the relationship between creative thinking competencies and other text writing skills.

Abstract

Legal texts function not only as normative instruments but also as discursive products containing power relations and state ideology. Therefore, to critically understand the representation of government ideology in Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence (UU TPKS), a discourse study was conducted using Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (AWK) approach. The analysis was conducted through three dimensions: text, discourse practices, and socio-cultural practices. This research employed a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach to legal texts. The data sources used consisted of primary data, namely Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence, and secondary data sources in the form of literature related to the representation of ideology in discourse through Fairclough's critical discourse analysis. In the text dimension, M.A.K. Halliday's systemic functional linguistics theory, particularly ideational metafunctions through transitivity systems, is used to examine the representation of actions, actors, and events in key articles of the TPKS Law. The analysis of discourse practices highlights the processes of production and consumption of legal texts, while socio-cultural practices are traced through the historical, political, and ideological contexts behind their formation. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the linguistic structure of the TPKS Law frames the state as the dominant protective actor, while women tend to be represented passively; (2) the discourse practices of this law demonstrate a tug-of-war between the progressive ideology of civil society and conservative pressures from state actors and religious groups; (3) the socio-cultural context of the TPKS Law is influenced by patriarchal culture, electoral political calculations, and global demands. This study emphasizes the importance of critical evaluation of legal language in public policy, particularly regarding issues of sexual violence and gender inequality.

Abstract

This qualitative study explores students’ perceptions of using Storybird to develop English writing skills among 18 intermediate-level students at SMA Negeri Binjai over a 10-week implementation period. Employing a mixed-methods approach, data were collected through structured questionnaires based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Self-Determination Theory (SDT), as well as semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal that students’ perceptions were predominantly positive, with 81.1% reporting favorable views of Storybird. Creativity stimulation (88.8%) and increased motivation (87.5%) emerged as the platform’s strongest attributes. Students appreciated the visual storytelling approach for generating ideas, organizing writings more effectively, and facilitating collaborative learning. Challenges identified included platform navigation and internet connectivity issues. The study confirms that Storybird effectively supports three basic psychological needs autonomy, competence, and relatedness—enhancing intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy in writing. These findings contribute to the literature on technology-enhanced language learning and provide empirical support for using digital storytelling platforms in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL).

Abstract

Penelitian ini menyelidiki dampak media TikTok terhadap peningkatan keterampilan pada siswa yang terlibat dalam pendidikan bahasa dan sastra Indonesia dalam konteks era digital., dengan tujuan untuk menjelaskan efektivitas aplikasi sebagai media pembelajaran dalam pengembangan keterampilan menulis. Riset ini menggunakan metodologi kuantitatif deskriptif, memanfaatkan pengujian dan teknik pengamatan untuk pengumpulan data, diikuti dengan pengurangan data dan analisis skor individu melalui SPSS, berdasarkan hasil pra dan pasca-tes. Hasil Paired Sample T-Test menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam keterampilan menulis puisi, dengan skor pratest rata-rata 68,30 dan skor posttest meningkat menjadi 82,60, mencerminkan peningkatan 14,30 poin. Selain itu, skor signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05 menegaskan bahwa media TikTok secara positif mempengaruhi keterampilan menulis puisi di kalangan siswa kelas D Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, menunjukkan efektivitasnya sebagai alat pembelajaran di era digital. Selain meningkatkan keterampilan menulis, media ini juga memotivasi mahasiswa untuk berkreasi lebih luas melalui unsur audio-visual, serta meningkatkan kepercayaan diri mereka dalam mengekspresikan karya sastra secara digital.
