This research used a quantitative approach, and used quasi experimental design. The research used two classes, namely the experimental group and the control group. The population of tenth grade SMA Daerah Sei Bejangkar were 84 students. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling and the samples were all students at tenth grade of SMA Daerah Sei Bejangkar. This research used two classes, namely the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group consisted of 42 students and the control group consisted of 42 students. The experimental group was taught by applying the round table technique and the control group was taught using the conventional technique. In addition, this research was carried out through the following procedures: giving pre-test, applying treatment and giving post- test. The results obtained from the research prove that the score of experimental group was higher than control group of students’ ability in writing descriptive text. Based on the calculation of the t-test is the score of product moment degree of freedom(df) N1+N2-2 or 42+42-2 = 82, the critical value of the t-table with a significant 0.05 is 1.66 and the t-test is 3.024. The writer concludes that t-test t-table. Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect of using the Round Table Technique on students' ability in writing descriptive text at Tenth Grade of SMA Daerah Sei Bejangkar in Academic Year 2021/2022.

Abstract

Fix-Up Strategy is an approach used in learning to help students overcome difficulties or confusion in understanding the material being studied. This strategy aims to help students improve or "fix" their understanding when they feel unsure or confused about the information provided. The study aims to investigate whether the implementation of the fix-up approach can improve the reading comprehension skills of students attending SMA Negeri 7 Palu. This research utilizes a quasi-experimental design involving two distinct groups: the experimental group, which consists of 35 students, and the control group, comprising 36 individuals. The selection of participants follows a random cluster sampling method. Two assessments, including a preliminary evaluation and a follow-up examination, were administered to gather data. Subsequently, the collected data underwent analysis using paired difference testing, specifically employing the paired sample t-test. The findings of the study suggest that employing the fix-up strategy leads to enhanced reading comprehension among tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 7 Palu. The results of the paired sample t-test support this observation, indicating a significant difference in academic performance between the pre-test and post-test (two-tailed, p = 0.000 0.05).

Abstract

Social media gaming is a recent trend that allows most teenagers to express themselves freely. As the tendency changes toward public entertainment, in this case esports broadcasting, the bulk of them turn into spectators. However, the manner in which they express themselves is frequently regarded as unethical. This means that their expressions frequently transcend the norm, as evidenced by several unpleasant comments. With this in mind, the aim of this research is to identify the various forms and intentions of impolite language strategies used in live comments on YouTube during broadcasts of the Mobile Legends Premier League (MPL) Indonesia Season 12. Aside from that, the researchers explored how incivility standards were explained in YouTube Mobile Legends: Bang Bang live comments. This study is a descriptive qualitative study. Culpeper's (1996) impoliteness theory is used by researchers. In this study, data was gathered by observation and note-taking. The data for this study came from harsh text comments on a match video on the official Mobile Legends: Bang Bang YouTube channel. According to the findings of the study, four types of rudeness are used: outright bald on record impoliteness, positive impoliteness, negative impoliteness, sarcasm or mock impoliteness. The researchers, however, did not detect withhold politeness type. Aside from that, the researchers found that there is a thing that may be considered breaching the impolite norms, notably spamming behaviors, based on the results of the researched data.

Abstract

Within this particular study, the designations of "Tourist" and "Explorer" are employed to denote students who approach their classroom learning experiences with either a desire for leisurely exploration (akin to that of a tourist) or a desire to delve deeper into the subject matter (more akin to that of an explorer). The semantics course delves deeply into the theory of meaning, fields of meaning, and sense, and specific topics within the course material may cause some anxiety for students. The objective of this research is to explore how anxiety affects the acquisition of knowledge in semantics courses, given that anxiety can have an adverse impact on mental well-being. This research uses a survey design, adopting Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) as the instrument. Forty-six individuals voluntarily completed a questionnaire regarding their learning experience. The respondents aged between 20 and 24 years old. There were 15 male individuals in the group, representing 32% of the total, while 31 female individuals comprised 67% of the group. In order to enhance the overall effectiveness of educational achievements, forthcoming studies will be taking into account supplementary factors. Through the lens of "Tourist or Explorer? Delving Students' Predilection and Anxiety in Semantics Course," this study advances our comprehension of the multifaceted nature of semantics education, inviting a more empathetic and comprehensive approach to pedagogy.
