Abstract

Background: In the digital era, online learning has become one of the main alternatives in acquiring new knowledge and skills. One of the most widely used platforms is Coursera, which provides various courses from world-renowned universities and institutions. The success of learning on this platform depends not only on the quality of the materials provided, but also on how users create and develop their own knowledge during the learning process. This SECI model explains how individuals and organizations transform tacit (implicit) knowledge into explicit, and how this process can enhance understanding and innovation in a learning environment. Objective: This study aims to analyze the correlation between knowledge creation based on the SECI-Nonaka Model and the motivation of Coursera platform users. Methods: The research model used in this study is quantitative with a symmetrical associative approach. This research was conducted to see the relationship between variables X and Y used a survey method conducted online. The population in this study were users of the Coursera platform, and the research sample totaled 28 people. This research focuses on how the knowledge creation process based on the SECI model (Socialization, Externalization, Combination, Internalization) has a correlation with user motivation in using the Coursera online learning platform. Results: The results showed that H1 was accepted with a significance value of 0.000 which was < 0.05 with a correlation coefficient value of 0.650 with a strong correlation strength. H2 is accepted with a significance value of 0.001 which is < 0.05 with a correlation coefficient value of 0.588 with a strong correlation strength. H3 is accepted with a significance value of 0.003 which is < 0.05 with a correlation coefficient value of 0.538 with a strong correlation strength. H4 is accepted with a significance value of 0.000 which is < 0.05 with a correlation coefficient value of 0.787 with a very strong correlation strength. Conclusion: The four hypotheses proposed in this study are accepted that the SECI model has a positive relationship with Coursera user motivation. With users motivated to learn on the Coursera platform, the knowledge creation process will be created. Thus, it can be stated that the Coursera learning platform is a supporting platform for knowledge creation, where knowledge creation is one form of knowledge management.

Abstract

Background: Information governance plays a central role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance in public institutions. In the context of public administration, particularly in Indonesia, the implementation of information governance remains inconsistent, leading to issues such as information disputes and limited access to public data. The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act was established to promote openness; however, its success depends significantly on the maturity level of information governance in public institutions. Objective: This study aims to analyze the maturity level of information governance in public institutions within the Yogyakarta Special Region and to explore the relationship between information governance and the implementation of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act. The assessment framework is based on the maturity model developed by the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA).Methods: A mixed-method approach was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative data. Data were collected through surveys, interviews, and observations involving key informants and respondents, including heads of administrative units, information managers, and records managers. The study was conducted in eight government institutions in the Yogyakarta Special Region. Results: The maturity levels of information governance across the eight institutions vary significantly. They range from sub-standard to in development, essential, and transformational. None of the institutions achieved a fully transformational level. Only the Department of Agriculture attained levels 3 and 4 (essential and transformational) across all eight indicators: accountability, transparency, integrity, protection, compliance, availability, retention, and disposition. Most other institutions remain below the essential standard, especially in accountability and transparency, which are critical components for effective information governance. Furthermore, the study finds a strong interconnection between information governance and freedom of information: effective governance enhances FOI implementation, while the FOI Act positively influences governance practices. Conclusion: The maturity of information governance in public institutions in Yogyakarta remains uneven, with most institutions yet to meet essential standards. Strengthening accountability and transparency should be prioritized. The study concludes that information governance and freedom of information are inherently linked—improving one supports the success of the other. Enhancing information governance is thus essential for realizing the full potential of FOI implementation in public sector institutions.

Abstract

Background: Information literacy plays a vital role in supporting education, research, and informed decision-making in the digital era. In the context of ASEAN countries, the development and dissemination of research on information literacy contribute to regional knowledge-sharing and capacity building. However, comprehensive mapping of scholarly output on this subject in ASEAN remains limited, especially those indexed in global academic databases. Objective: This research aims to map and analyze scientific publications on the subject of information literacy in ASEAN countries indexed by the Lens database. The analysis focuses on co-occurrence and co-authorship networks using VOSviewer, as well as determining author productivity, publication trends, and institutional and national contributions to the development of information literacy scholarship. Methods: A bibliometric analysis approach was applied using data extracted from the Lens database. Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer software were utilized to clean the data and generate visualizations. Co-occurrence analysis was used to identify thematic trends, while co-authorship analysis revealed collaboration networks. The study also examined publication growth by country and institutional affiliation from 1998 to 2023.Results: A total of 504 articles related to information literacy were initially retrieved from the Lens database. After data cleaning, 469 relevant articles remained. Among the 10 ASEAN countries, only 6—Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam—have publications on this subject indexed in the Lens database. Key emerging topics in recent years include data collection techniques, information needs, documentation, public observation, communication, and human resources. Shaheen Majid emerged as both the most productive author and the one with the strongest collaboration network. The study shows a general upward trend in publication numbers over the 1998–2023 period. Conclusion: Scientific publications on information literacy in ASEAN countries have shown significant growth over the past two decades. Collaborative research networks among authors play an important role in enhancing productivity. These findings highlight the need for greater collaboration and capacity building across ASEAN member states to strengthen regional contributions to the field of information literacy.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia possesses a vast collection of 82,158 manuscripts, which hold valuable historical, cultural, and religious information. Among these, Islamic manuscripts play a significant role in the intellectual heritage of the region. However, the number of academic studies and publications related to these manuscripts remains limited compared to the total number owned. This indicates a gap between the availability of manuscript resources and scholarly attention towards them. Objective: This study aims to analyze the productivity and collaboration patterns of researchers who study Islamic manuscripts in Indonesia. By conducting a bibliometric analysis, the study seeks to identify the most productive authors, collaboration networks, and publication trends over the past decade. The ultimate goal is to motivate increased academic interest and research on Islamic manuscripts. Methods: This research employed bibliometric analysis to measure authorship productivity and collaboration using publication data from 2013 to 2023. Key indicators included the number of publications per author, author collaboration networks, and yearly publication trends. To test whether the distribution of author productivity aligns with Lotka’s Law, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov (K–S) test was used with a significance level of α = 0.05.Results: The analysis identified Jamaluddin as the most productive author in the field of Islamic manuscript studies, while Undang Ahmad Darsa was found to have the most extensive author collaboration network. The period between 2019 and 2023 marked the highest productivity, with 123 articles published. It was also found that 89% of the authors contributed only one article during the 2013–2023 period. The K–S test showed a Dmax value of 0.096, which is greater than the critical value of 0.08. Therefore, H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected, indicating that the productivity distribution does not conform to Lotka’s Law.Conclusion: This study reveals that research productivity in the field of Islamic manuscripts in Indonesia is concentrated among a few individuals, with most authors contributing only once. The findings highlight the need for broader scholarly engagement and collaboration in this area. Encouraging more researchers to study Islamic manuscripts is essential to preserving and understanding Indonesia’s rich manuscript heritage.
