Abstract

Currently, students' self-efficacy and discipline are very important, especially at the high school level to help students improve their learning abilities. This study aims to answer the research question, namely how the results of descriptive statistics on self-efficacy variables and the disciplinary character of high school students in physics subjects. Are there differences and relationships between self-efficacy and the disciplinary character of physics high school students? The method used in this study is a mixed method. The research results are based on the t test which states that the comparative data is smaller than 0.05 and the correlation test which states the data results are smaller than 0.05. The conclusion of this study is the difference and relationship between self-efficacy and character discipline of students at Senior high school 5 Jambi City and Alberta High School Diploma in physics subjects. The update of this research is that knowing the relationship between self-efficacy and disciplinary character can be used as a source of good research in the future and for teachers and schools at the high school level. This research is limited by high school level and physics subjects.

Abstract

Effective student cognitive development can be seen when students are in junior high school. This study aims to answer the research question, namely how is the relationship between cognitive development variables and the disciplinary character of high school students in physics subjects. The method used in this research is a mixed quantitative and qualitative method with a total of 50 students. The results of the study are the correlation test which states that the relationship with the data results is less than 0.05, which means that there is a relationship between the two variables tested. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between cognitive development and the disciplinary character of high school students in physics subjects. The novelty of this study is that no comparisons were made for different schools to find out the relationship between cognitive development variables and disciplinary character. The limitations of this study are only comparing two classes.

Abstract

Democratic character is very important for students to have, one of the efforts to improve students' democratic character is to apply a problem-solving learning model. This study aims to answer the research question, namely how is the relationship between democratic character variables and solving learning models in high school students in Jambi and Heidelberg in physics subjects. The method used in this research is a mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods. The results of the study are the correlation test which states that the relationship with the data results is less than 0.05, which means that there is a relationship between the two variables. The conclusion from this study is that there is a relationship between students' democratic character and students' problem-solving learning models. The novelty of this study is at the same time a differentiator from previous research, namely testing whether there is a relationship between students' democratic character and problem-solving learning models. The limitation of this research is that it only describes the democratic character based on the school, but it has not been carried out based on gender in each school. Researchers suggest conducting further research to compare the characteristics of democracy and problem-solving models with an analysis based on gender.

Abstract

This research is one of the first studies to explore the level of emotional intelligence and level of learning achievement of class VIII students on style material in Indonesia. The research method used is quantitative research. The population in this study consisted of all students in class VIII of Junior high school 16 Jambi City and Junior high school Izzuddin Shah. The sampling technique used was random sampling. The research instrument used was a statement questionnaire given to students. The data analysis used was descriptive statistics. The results of research on students’ emotional intelligence showed that they were in the good category with a percentage of 42% at Junior high school 16 Jambi City and in the good category with a percentage of 52% at Junior high school Izzuddin Shah. The findings provide new insights and implications for enhancing the emotional intelligence and learning achievement of students, especially on style material, in the Indonesian context.

Abstract

This literature review aims to investigate how the portfolio assessment used in research influences the learning outcomes of students based on the objectives of the analysis, research design used, level of education, learning topic, and form of an assessment tool. The most significant benefit of portfolio assessment was obtained in applied research/influence/effectiveness, namely 61.54%. Science learning with a research design had the highest frequency in a quasi-experimental design of 42.31%. The level of education was another factor that affected the portfolio assessment of science learning. Portfolio assessment in science learning was more prevalent at the upper secondary education level, with a percentage of 57.69%. The application of portfolio assessment in science learning (integrated science, physics, and biology) revealed that physics subjects attracted more research interest, namely 50%. Based on the research results and discussion presented in this article, it can be concluded that the portfolio assessment of science learning can be used at various levels of education. The novelty of this research is that it synthesizes the existing literature on the impact of implementing portfolio assessment in science learning on learning outcomes. Portfolio assessment in science learning implies that it can arouse students’ interest in the subject, motivate them to engage in active learning, improve students’ mastery of topics, and inform parents of their child’s educational progress. Future research may explore other aspects of portfolio assessment, such as its validity, reliability, and feedback mechanisms.

Abstract

In the field of astronomy, it is important to know the position of the moon in equatorial coordinates. However, these calculations can be difficult to do manually. Therefore, a system for calculating the visible position of the moon in Python-based equatorial coordinates has been developed. This system uses a suitable algorithm to calculate the visible position of the moon in equatorial coordinates. The calculation results obtained from this system are then compared with the simulation results from the Stellarium software. System for calculating the visible position of the moon in equatorial coordinates with PythonRA values (alpha): 11h21m36.9s and declination (delta): 8° 28' 23” while the results from the Stellarium software simulation at the same time are RA (alpha): 11h18m0.33s and declination (delta): 8° 25' 18.2”.The results of the comparison show that the system for calculating the visible position of the moon in Python-based equatorial coordinates has a difference in RA of 0h3m36s and declination of 0°3'4.8” from the Stellarium simulation. The error value for the comparison of python calculations with Stellarium is RA = 2% and Declination = 0.6%. This shows that the use of python can simplify calculations with difficult algorithms and the results obtained are quite accurate. Thus, this Python-based system for calculating the visible position of the moon in equatorial coordinates can be used as a tool in the field of astronomy.

Abstract

This study is the first to conduct a literature review of the ability to think critically in problem-based learning and inquiry learning models in physics education. The method used is qualitative research with a literature review system. This research data collection technique uses secondary data, namely relevant research articles. The process of reviewing articles in this study focuses on problem-based learning and inquiry learning models that can improve students’ critical thinking skills in physics concepts and phenomena. The instruments used in data collection included reviewing scientific articles sourced from Google Scholar with the criteria for selected articles according to search keywords and selected articles published within the last 10 years and analyzed using a synthesis matrix. From the literature study that has been carried out, the researcher found as many as 25 articles regarding problem-based learning and inquiry learning models that can improve students’ critical thinking skills in physics education. With these learning models, students’ low critical thinking skills in physics learning can be increased and students understand physics learning better. The novelty of this study is that it provides a comprehensive and systematic overview of the existing literature on the effectiveness of problem-based learning and inquiry learning models in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills in physics education. The implications of this study are that it can inform teachers, curriculum developers, and policymakers on how to design and implement problem-based learning and inquiry learning models in physics education to foster students’ critical thinking skills and learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research is the first to conduct a systematic review of the concept of tolerance character in the context of physics learning. The research aims to explore the definition, measurement, and development of tolerance character among high school students through physics learning. The method used in this research is the literature review method. Sampling in this study was carried out by looking for several scientific articles from previous research on the character of tolerance found on Google Scholar, which were then examined and conclusions drawn. Results of the analysis of articles regarding the character of tolerance in learning physics in high school found that the character of tolerance is a character that needs to be instilled in students at the high school education level through learning physics. The research also identified the benefits, challenges, and strategies of fostering tolerance in physics learning, such as enhancing students’ critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills, overcoming misconceptions and stereotypes, and using inquiry-based, problem-based, and cooperative learning methods. This character of tolerance can be taught and applied in education through learning, one of which is learning physics. The novelty of this research is that it provides a comprehensive and systematic overview of the existing literature on the concept of tolerance character in the context of physics learning. The research also contributes to the literature on physics education and character education by highlighting the role of physics learning in enhancing the tolerance character of high school students.

Abstract

This research is the first to conduct a systematic review of problem solving learning in physics learning. The research aims to synthesize the existing literature on the learning models and experimental methods that can improve high school students’ physics problem solving abilities. The method used in this research is qualitative research using a systematic literature review method. Data collection techniques by reviewing books, journals, literature, notes and various reports related to the problem you want to solve. Data samples were taken by tracing several scientific articles resulting from previous researchers’ research on developmental, experimental and descriptive research. The data analysis technique used is matrix synthesis. Based on the research that has been conducted, it was found that almost all articles apply learning models and use experimental methods to improve high school students’ physics problem solving abilities. The research contributes to the literature on physics education and problem solving by providing a comprehensive and systematic overview of the existing literature on problem solving learning in physics learning. The novelty of this research is that it introduces a new framework of problem solving learning in physics learning. The research also provides empirical evidence of the effectiveness and feasibility of problem solving learning in physics learning. Future research may conduct empirical studies to test the effectiveness and feasibility of problem solving learning in physics learning.

Abstract

The research aims to measure and compare the amount of thermal radiation emitted by various materials with different colors and textures, and to calculate the emissivity of each material. Experiments were carried out using four surface variations of the cube. The results show that the black surface of the Leslie cube emitted the most thermal radiation, followed by the dull, shiny, and white surfaces. The average value of thermal radiation output for each surface was 3.4 mV for black material, 1.6 mV for white material, 2.4 mV for shiny colored materials, and 2.8 mV for dull colored materials. The amount of power obtained for each surface was 1.9 x 10-8 Watts, 0.87 x 10-8 Watts, 1.3 x 10-8 Watts, and 1.6 x 10-8 Watts, respectively. The emissivity of each material, which is the ratio of the thermal radiation emitted by the material to that of a black body at the same temperature, was 1, 0.458, 0.684, and 0.842, respectively. Based on the sensor output value, it can be concluded that black cloth is the most effective material in transmitting thermal radiation energy compared to glass, cardboard, and styrofoam. The research also provides empirical data and calculations of the thermal radiation and emissivity of different materials, which can be used for further analysis and applications. The research contributes to the literature on physics education and thermal radiation by demonstrating a practical and engaging way of teaching and learning the concept of thermal radiation using a Leslie cube.
