Abstract

ABSTRACTOne problem of the environment is the increasing amount of plastic waste especially thin plastic bag and other thin plastic packaging, therefore effort is needed to utilize those plastic waste. Within this experiment thin plastic waste was use on the production of road asphalt mixture. The aim of this experiment was: to know the effectivity of the plastic coating onto the aggregate; the properties of the aggregate coated with thin waste plastic; and the Marshall characteristic of HRS-WC. Waste thin plastic waste was manually cut with size: <10mm and 10-20mm. The aggregate was heated, then plastic waste was spreaded, mixed, added with optimum asphalt content (OAC), evenly mixed and compacted 2x75 Marshall blow. Plastic coating was found only effective (observed visually) on the coarse aggregate using wider plastic size 10-20mm. Samples of HRS-WC were made with aggregate coated with plastic at OAC; OAC-0.5%; and OAC-1%. It was obtained that: the OAC was 7.55%. For 100% coating the coarse aggregate the amount of plastic needed was 30gram (8.6% by weight of total aggregate), and 15gram to coat 50%. The difference on Marshall Characteristic without and with added plastic was not significant and difficulties was experienced to meet volumetric properties, nontheles there was increase in Marshall stability. It was found that, the Marshall stability, flow, Marshall Quotient, VIM, VMA, and VFB on OAC with 50% plastic coating on the coarse aggregate, were consecutively: 1017.35 kg; 3.05mm; 333.69 kg/mm; 298.94 kg/mm; 4.288%; and 18.055%. Meanwhile on 100% coating, consecutively: 1075.07 kg; 3.59mm; 298.94 kg/mm; 4.037%; 17.462%; dan 76.90%.

Abstract

Development of dam very important for community surrounding the dam. To maintain that the benefits can be continued, it is necessary to review whether the safety of dams already meet the expected requirements. Dam safety to be reviewed when the dam was built and when the dam operating at this time. Security conditions associated with changes in water level on the upstream dam that affects the seepage on the body of dam and seepage under the dam. The water level also affects the slope of the dam when the dam has been operating.  Evaluation of the safety of the dam was conducted on Benel dam which located in Melaya District, Jembrana Regency, Bali Province. The results of the calculation of seepage (q) in the dam body with SEEP/W and flownet shows that, seepage discharge (q) which passes through under the dam and the body of dam is less than 1% (4.9206 m3/second) against the average flood discharge, so it has met the security requirements. Dam safety factor calculations without seismic load and with seismic load, for upstream slope and downstream slope when the dam was constructed,  when operating with flood water level,  when operating in the rainy season (normal water level),  when operating in the dry season (minimum water level) and with rapid draw down condition, with SLOPE/W and the Bishop method, the safety factor obtained more than minimum requirement by RSNI M-03-2002.

Abstract

Lightweight concrete is a concrete made of lightweight aggregates and has a volume weight ranging from 1140-1840 kg/m3. This research was conducted to find out the correlation between concrete characteristics using LECA coarse aggregate that proportioned for lightweight concrete mixture according to SNI 03-3449-2002 standard with target compressive strength of 20 MPa, 25 MPa, and 30 MPa. The studied characteristics of the LECA concrete include the value of slump, volume weight, compressive strength, tensile strength, and modulus of elasticity. Each mix proportion was made 8 cylinder specimens of ASTM standard, so there were 24 test specimens for the three studied mixtures. The proportion of concrete mixture obtained for the target strength of 20 MPa is 1: 1.16: 2.46 with the value of cement water ratio (w/c) of 0.6, for the concrete strength of 25 MPa is 1: 0.91: 1.99 with the w/c of 0.52, and for the quality of the strength of 30 MPa is 1: 0.65: 0.94 with the w/c of 0.4. The test results obtained the mixed slump value of 155 mm, 145 mm, and 120 mm for the target concrete strength of 20 MPa, 25 MPa, and 30 MPa, respectively. The volume-weight value of LECA concrete ranges from 1564-1692 kg/m3 so that it is categorized as a lightweight concrete. The concrete compressive strength is 22 to 42% of the target concrete strength, and is categorized as a non-structural concrete. The split test tensile strength is 12 - 18% of its compressive strength. Increasing the value of LECA concrete compressive strength can also increase in its tensile strength and modulus of elasticity. Keywords: lightweight concrete, LECA aggregate, concrete characteristics, compressive strength, tensile strength.

Abstract

Abstract : There is incompatibility between the understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) knowledge with the application of construction workers behavior on the Nusa Dua - Ngurah Rai - Benoa Toll Road Project Pack 3, where the toll road project was built above the sea. There are workers who work with unsafe although they already know how it should work safely, and there are also workers who found himself competent, but need direction and guidance. Therefore, need to know the influence of occupational health and safety knowledge on construction workers behavior seen from several aspects such as definitions and initiation, management systems, mechanisms of personal protective devices, facilities and infrastructure, as well as the risk of OHS. The sampling technique used Non probability sampling with Incidental Sampling method. Data were taken from the assessment of respondents' answers to the questionnaire by workers sampled in the research. Correlation analysis is used to determine the relationship between knowledge of OHS with worker behavior. Regression analysis was used to explain of the knowledge of OHS aspects influence on construction workers behavior together by using the multiple linear regression analysis and partial by using simple linear regression analysis. The research result showed that there is a positive correlation between knowledge of OHS with worker behavior. In term of the OHS knowledge aspects, the use of personal protective devices mechanism aspects and utilization of facilities and infrastructure at work site affect positively / directly proportional and not significant, while aspects understanding of the definition and initiation, understanding of the OHS management system and an understanding of the risks effect Negative / inversely and not significant on the application of construction workers behavior in a secure and safe.

Abstract

COMPARISON OF SATURATION FLOW VALUE BETWEEN THE TIME SLICEMETHODS WITH THE DPU (1997) APPROACH. (CASE STUDY: INTERSECTIONKEBO IWA STREET WITH WEST ARTERIAL ROAD GATOT SUBROTO)ABSTRACTSaturation flow is an important factor in the process of planning, designing and evaluating traffic lightjunctions. The purpose of this study is to find out protected saturation flow in traffic light junctions. Traffic volumedata obtained from the Automatoc Traffic Control System (ATCS) recorded, and the number of residents obtainedfrom the relevant agencies. While data such as geometric intersections, traffic signal aspects and side frictionswere survey manually. The research design used is a comparative analysis between saturation flow measurementsbased on the Time Slice method and the DPU (1997) approach. In this study applied 2 (two) treatments, namelyTreatment-1; measurement and analysis of saturation flow values based on lane width and Treatment-2;measurement and analysis of saturaton flow values based on total approach width. The results of the measurementand analysis in Treatment-1, obtained that the saturation flow value is very varied depending on the pattern oftraffic movements. In the straight lane movement (S1-1), the value of saturation flow based on the Time Slicemethod obtained at 2.130 pcu / hour is greater than 10% compared to DPU (1997) of 1.976 pcu / hour. Meanwhilein the straight lane with the right turn movement (S1.2), the saturation flow value based on the Time Slice methodof 1.681 pcu / hour is 13% smaller than DPU (1997) of 1,935 pcu / hour. Whereas, the results of measurement andanalysis at Treatment-2; the saturation flow value is relatively the same, with the value of saturation flowrespectively is based on the Time Slice method of 3.856 pcu / hour, DPU (1997) of 3,870 pcu / hour and thecombined saturation flow at Treatment-1 is 3,811 pcu / hour .
