Abstract

Background. Narrative communication offers promising alternatives, yet systematic understanding of how digital storytelling specifically promotes sustained pro-environmental behaviors remains underdeveloped. Purpose. This study investigated whether participatory creation of digital environmental narratives leads to stronger and more sustained pro-environmental behavior change compared to passive narrative consumption or information-based education, while also examining the mediating roles of psychological mechanisms such as narrative transportation and environmental self-efficacy Method. Mixed-methods experimental design randomly assigned 228 undergraduate students to participatory creation, passive consumption, or information-based control conditions, measuring pro-environmental behaviors, attitudes, self-efficacy, and psychological distance across baseline, immediate post-intervention, 3-month, and 6-month follow-ups. Results. Participatory creation produced significantly greater behavior change (33% increase maintained at 6-month follow-up) compared to passive consumption (12% increase) and control (0% increase). Environmental self-efficacy mediated 61% of participatory creation effects while narrative transportation mediated 73% of passive consumption effects. Conclusion. This research demonstrates that creating digital environmental narratives produces superior behavior change compared to consuming narratives through distinct psychological mechanisms emphasizing capability-building over persuasion.

Abstract

Background. The rapid expansion of the digital economy has transformed global market structures, creating new opportunities for innovation while raising significant concerns regarding consumer protection, data governance, and regulatory coherence. Existing legal frameworks often struggle to address the complexity of cross-border digital transactions and platform-based business models, resulting in gaps that affect both market efficiency and user trust. Purpose. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of legal frameworks in regulating the digital economy, with a particular focus on balancing consumer protection and innovation. Method. A qualitative doctrinal and comparative legal research design is employed, analyzing statutory instruments, policy documents, and regulatory practices across selected jurisdictions. Data are systematically evaluated using thematic analysis and comparative legal matrices to identify patterns, strengths, and limitations in regulatory approaches. Results.The findings reveal that jurisdictions with coherent, adaptive, and enforceable legal frameworks demonstrate higher levels of consumer trust and innovation performance. Evidence indicates that regulatory quality, rather than regulatory intensity, determines the success of digital governance. Conclusion.The study concludes that an integrated and flexible legal framework is essential for sustaining digital market growth while ensuring consumer protection.

Abstract

Background. The increasing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in criminal justice systems has raised significant concerns regarding its legal implications, particularly in surveillance and sentencing practices. As AI technologies become more embedded in law enforcement and judicial decision-making, questions surrounding privacy, accountability, and fairness have become central to discussions of legal reform. Purpose. The study aims to evaluate the extent to which current legal frameworks can address these challenges and propose reforms to ensure ethical use of AI in criminal justice systems. Method. A qualitative methodology is employed, using semi-structured interviews with legal experts, policymakers, and AI practitioners, alongside secondary data from case studies and policy documents. Results. The findings indicate that while AI has the potential to enhance efficiency, it often perpetuates existing biases and lacks sufficient oversight, leading to unjust outcomes. Conclusion. The study concludes that robust legal frameworks are essential to prevent the misuse of AI in criminal justice and to protect fundamental rights. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on AI's intersection with law and offers practical recommendations for legal reforms.

Abstract

Digital inequities remain a critical barrier to language learning opportunities in remote and underserved regions, particularly where internet connectivity is unstable and infrastructure is limited. Low-bandwidth mobile learning solutions offer a promising alternative for supporting equitable access to instructional resources, yet empirical evidence on their effectiveness in real-world settings remains limited. This study aims to examine how a low-bandwidth mobile language learning initiative implemented in an Eastern Indonesian community supports learner engagement, accessibility, and linguistic development. A qualitative case study methodology was employed, involving 32 secondary school learners, three local teachers, and two community facilitators. Data were collected through mobile usage analytics, classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and learner performance tasks adapted for low-data environments. The findings indicate that the initiative substantially improved access to learning materials, increased learner motivation, and supported incremental gains in vocabulary acquisition and basic communicative competence. Learners reported that offline-capable modules, audio-light exercises, and text-based microtasks reduced frustration associated with poor connectivity and enabled more consistent participation. Teachers highlighted the importance of culturally contextualized content and community support in sustaining engagement. The study concludes that low-bandwidth mobile learning can help bridge the digital divide when paired with context-sensitive pedagogical design and local capacity-building. Further research is recommended to explore scalability, long-term learning outcomes, and policy frameworks that could strengthen digital inclusion in remote regions.

Abstract

Background. The Indonesian Navy faces significant challenges in securing its vast maritime territory, requiring the integration of modern underwater technologies. While naval warfare increasingly relies on advanced systems, infrastructure limitations currently hinder the shift toward a cohesive, system-oriented undersea defense framework. Purpose. This study explores how underwater technology development can transform the Indonesian Navy’s strategic capabilities. It evaluates the potential of various assets to enhance operational effectiveness and aims to provide a modernization roadmap for the nation's maritime defense. Method. Using a mixed-methods design, the research combines quantitative surveys and qualitative case studies. This approach assesses the technical performance and organizational readiness of specific assets, including submarines, sonar systems, and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs). Results. Findings show that while submarines and sonar are well-integrated, UUVs face major operational hurdles due to technical gaps and poor system synergy. This suggests that technological innovation must be supported by a unified framework and specialized personnel training. Conclusion. Successful transformation depends on overcoming integration challenges and effectively deploying UUVs alongside traditional assets. The research recommends a balanced focus on both technological advancement and human resource development to ensure a secure and unified maritime future.

Abstract

Background. Indonesia faces increasingly complex disaster management challenges due to the high frequency of natural disasters and the involvement of multiple institutional sectors in crisis response processes. Fragmented governance structures, overlapping institutional responsibilities, and limited interagency coordination often hinder effective disaster management implementation. Collaborative leadership has therefore emerged as an important governance approach for strengthening cross-sectoral policy integration and improving institutional responsiveness during crisis situations. Purpose. This study aimed to examine the role of collaborative leadership in supporting cross-sectoral policy integration within disaster management systems in Indonesia. Method. Qualitative case study methodology was employed through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving governmental agencies, humanitarian organizations, community leaders, and disaster management stakeholders across selected disaster-prone regions. Results. The findings revealed that collaborative leadership significantly improved communication quality, institutional trust, resource coordination, and policy coherence among participating stakeholders. Participatory decision-making, adaptive coordination mechanisms, and transparent communication systems were identified as critical factors supporting effective crisis governance and integrated disaster management implementation. Collaborative leadership additionally strengthened community participation and institutional flexibility during emergency response and recovery processes. Conclusion. This study concludes that collaborative leadership constitutes a strategic governance capacity for enhancing disaster resilience and strengthening integrated crisis management systems in Indonesia. Effective disaster governance therefore requires inclusive coordination structures, adaptive policy integration mechanisms, and sustained interorganizational collaboration across multiple governance sectors.
