Abstract

Education, especially character education, is related to the development of human morality and spirituality from an environmental perspective. This understanding of waste management is related to the character of caring for the environment based on various existing character values. One way of managing waste in schools is by establishing a waste bank. Therefore, this study aims to explain the optimization of waste banks in schools as an effort to overcome environmental pollution through education. This study took the research location at the Adiwiyata school in the Subang Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach. The researchers used observations, documentation, and interviews with students, teachers, employees, and school residents. Data analysis and research results are presented descriptively using the Miles Huberman model. The study results show that education-based solutions in overcoming pollution and protecting the environment through optimizing the waste bank at Adiwiyata elementary school run effectively and can be one of the means of environmental care education. This is evidenced by the active participation of all relevant parties in the school in the implementation of the waste bank program, which includes students, teachers, employees, and other school residents.

Abstract

Environmental damage is caused by people interference with nature. It has been assumed that people's personalities and intelligence influence the ecosystem. Research aims to find out the relationship between locus of control (LOC) and naturalistic intelligence (NI) with people's citizenship behavior (CB). A survey method has been applied by involving 80 people as a sample. Three instruments for measuring LOC, NI, and people’s CB. Regression and correlational analysis used to verify its relationship. Research results reveal that there is a positive and significant correlation between LOC and CB, NI, and CB, finally between LOC and NI with CB. Multiple regression and correlation used to predict people's CB in terms of how people live with nature harmoniously based on people's LOC and NI. The implications that LOC and NI is one part to improve wise behavior towards the environment in society is related to the LOC and NI of each individual

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of mangrove forests to absorb carbon dioxide (CO2) in the Tampo Village, Napabalano District, Muna Regency. This research will be carried out in September 2022 at the Tampo Village, Napabalano District, Muna Regency. The sampling in this study used purposive sampling method, the determination of sampling was selected systematically with an intensity of 0.5%. Placement of measuring plots is based on mangrove forest zoning which is made of 8 (eight) plots, where each plot is 10 m x 10 m (100 m2). The variables in this study were the diameter at breast height of an adult to determine biomass and carbon above ground (above ground) without cutting down trees (non-destructive). Biomass is determined by the Allometric equation. The carbon is determined by ½ of the biomass. The results showed that the estimation of CO2 absorption in mangrove forests in Tampo Village, Napabalano District, Muna Regency had an average CO2 absorption of 56.58 ton.ha-1. The carbon value is influenced by environmental conditions, the type of wood mass, the diameter of the mangrove stems and the number of species present in a plot.
