Abstract

The Function of Ethnomathematics in the Development of Pancasila Student Profiles for Indonesian Students Via Mathematics Education in Schools. The present mathematics curriculum in Indonesia (IND) places a strong emphasis on the creation of a Pancasila student profile in order to ensure that pupils are learning mathematics in a meaningful way. This paper suggests an integration of ethnomathematics into the formal mathematics curriculum as one approach to dealing with these learning issues. It is based on a literature assessment of studies on ethnomathematics, mathematics education, and Pancasila student profile. The literature review method used with a narrative review design. A total of 28 articles were selected for publication at the final stage of the review process. In light of the preceding explanation, it is clear that ethnomathematics plays a part in the formal school mathematics curriculum since the context-relevant and constraint-filled problem-solving techniques give many abstract mathematical notions the required contextual meaning. Keywords: ethnomathematics, mathematics education, pancasila student profiles.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202305

Abstract

The current demand for electrical energy is crucial to support facilities and infrastructure across various sectors, including household, public, and industrial areas. In Indonesia, the reliance on fossil fuels for electricity generation remains high, contributing to significant emissions. Renewable energy sources, such as water energy, present a viable solution to mitigate these emissions and enhance environmental sustainability due to their eco-friendly and sustainable characteristics. Micro hydro energy can be generated by micro-scale power plants using hydropower by converting fluid rotation into electrical energy called Gravitational Water Vortex Power Plant. In water vortex power plant, the blades have a significant influence on the produced power of turbine. For this reason, it is necessary to have a suitable blades design to produce optimal power and efficiency. This study investigates the impact of different vortex turbine blade shapes straight blade, L blade, and curved blade. We used numerical and simulation to investigate the power and efficiency of vortex-type water turbines. Simulation results indicated significant effects of blade shape variations and the distance between blades and the outlet on turbine performance. The straight blade exhibited a tangential velocity of 2.95 m/s and torque of 1.49 Nm, producing 20.94 watts with an efficiency of 84.71%. The L blade demonstrated a tangential velocity of 2.84 m/s and torque of 1.54 Nm, yielding 20.82 watts with an efficiency of 84.3%. In contrast, the curved blade showed a tangential velocity of 2.83 m/s and torque of 1.21 Nm, generating 16.32 watts with an efficiency of 65.97%. Experimental testing revealed that the curved blade produced the highest power and efficiency at 11.64 watts and 23.56%, respectively. The optimal distance between the blade and the outlet was determined to be 2 cm, achieving the same power and efficiency values.

Abstract

Abstract mathematics learning requires media in outlining the material so that it can be well received by students. Media can help students understand and recall explanations from the teacher and test students' understanding more deeply. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the validity of Ludo Cartesius' learning media to improve understanding of mathematical concepts in class VIII students at junior high school. This research will apply development research design with ADDIE approach developed by Robert Maribe Brach. The ADDIE stages include analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The Population in this study were all eighth grade students at junior high school. The research sample was 27 students who were taken randomly using cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used include media expert assessment sheets, material expert assessments, student and teacher response questionnaires, as well as pretest and posttest understanding of mathematical concepts. The average value of media experts from the three validators of Dokar's media is 95.61. The average value of media experts from the three validators of Dokar's media is 92.36. The results showed that the Dokar media was categorized as "very valid" in terms of media experts and material experts and this media was suitable for use in class VIII students at junior high school. Dokar media is classified as practical media based on the average percentage of student and teacher responses, namely 86.23% and 85.83%. Dokar media is an effective medium based on the t-test (paired sample t-test) p value (0.000)<α (0.05) so that the posttest score is better than the pretest.

Abstract

This study examines the use of diverse media and gaming technologies to provide tangible learning experiences in early childhood education, focusing specifically on learning media made from residual waste. The use of residual waste as a learning medium is grounded in its accessibility in children’s everyday environments and its potential to teach recycling and waste reduction. Adopting a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach, this study aims to describe the use of residual waste as a medium for early childhood art learning. The research was conducted at TK Negeri 6 Yogyakarta with 15 participants comprising the principal, teachers, and group B2 children. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which involves data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The findings show that the use of residual waste as a learning medium is organized into three stages: implementation, planning, and evaluation. The use of residual waste has proven to be effective in art learning for young children because, through such learning media, children are free to create according to their own creativity and imagination.

Abstract

Numeracy is an important skill that enables students to understand mathematical concepts and solve problems in real-life contexts. According to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), numeracy refers to the ability to use, interpret, and communicate mathematical information in everyday contexts. However, the 2022 PISA results show that Indonesia's average score in numeracy has declined compared to 2018 (OECD, 2023). This indicates that many students still struggle with the stages of thinking processes needed to solve mathematical problems correctly. This study aims to systematically examine the various factors that influence, content, and variations in students' thinking processes in numeracy. This research uses the PRISMA 2020 method by analysing 22 articles selected from the range of 2020-2024. The results showed that the most studied variations included mathematical thinking processes, mathematical literacy thinking processes, and thinking processes in solving problems. Algebra is the most researched content, because it has a framework that includes detailed stages in the thinking process, such as information identification, symbolic representation, and concept application. The most reviewed factors in the thinking process are mathematical ability and cognitive style. Students with high mathematical ability are more systematic in thinking, while students with medium and low ability tend to need scaffolding. Students with field independent cognitive style showed higher creativity than field dependent students.
