Abstract

AbstractHealth care decisions are based not only on clinical and technical grounds, but also onethical grounds. Although we carefully weigh the clinical and technical aspects, ethical issuesinvolved may be overlooked. A legal framework or code of conduct governing doctor's decisionsand behaviour may help overcome this problem but they often provide rigid guidelines for alimited number of situations. Earlier education in ethics might have some advantages to build agood medical character. The perception of the importance of medical ethics could also had aneffect to the expectation of a good medical doctor should be. This research was a cross sectionalstudy in first grade medical students of medical faculty Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak,conducted in the last week of April, 2014. All of first grade medical students participated in thisstudy. This subjects given questionaire contained several questions : did they ever get a lessonof ethics in their Senior high schcol, how important the medical ethics and after studied medicalethics, what were their expectation ?. 86 subjects participated, 3'1 (36,05%) subjects are maleand 55(63,95%) subjects are female. The Age range from 16-20 years old, median 1B years oldand mode 1B years old. The subject came from 39 senior high school, was spread from papua,java dan kalimantan. Only 10(25,64%) senior high school had been given ethics in theircurriculum and this'1C school all located in Kalinrantan. One subject (1,16%)stated that ethicsjust a common lesson while 35 (40,7A %)subjects stated ihat ethics was inrportani and most ofthe subjects, 50(58,14%) subjects stated that ethics was very important lesson. The expectationafter studying medical ethics are : 39(45,35 o/o) subjects: respect and emphatize the other people,17 (19.77%) subjeets : be a betier person, 14(16,28o/c) subjeets: hospitable docior, 11 (12,79o/o)sub;ects :Apply the basic principle of bioethics and 5 (5,81%) sublects :treat the other like we'dlike to be treated. Twenty five point sixtyfour percent of the prirhary school of first year medicalstudent gave ethics lesson. Abstract

Latar Belakang: Malaria knowlesi merupakan zoonosis malaria disebabkan oleh Plasmodium knowlesi yang ditemukan di alam pada Macaca fascicularis (kera ekor panjang) dan Macaca nemestrina (kera ekor babi). Malaria knowlesi  menjadi fokus besar ketika dilaporkannya kejadian malaria knowlesi pada tahun 2004 berjumlah 106 kasus di Divisi Kapit, Sarawak, Malaysia. Tujuan: Mengetahui gambaran pengetahuan masyarakat tentang malaria knowlesi di Perbatasan Kecamatan Entikong Kabupaten Sanggau. Metode: Deskriptif statistik dengan desain cross-sectional. Sampel berjumlah 96 orang. Variabel bebas meliputi sumber informasi serta variabel karakteristik yaitu usia, jenis kelamin, pendidikan, dan pekerjaan. Varibel terikat yaitu tingkat pengetahuan tentang malaria knowlesi. Hasil: Dari 96 responden, didapatkan tingkat pengetahuan tentang malaria knowlesi yaitu berpengetahuan kurang berjumlah 61 responden (63,5%), berpengetahuan cukup sebanyak 21 responden (21,9%), dan berpengetahuan baik sebanyak 14 responden (14,6%). Kesimpulan: Pengetahuan masyarakat Kecamatan Entikong masih kurang tentang malaria knowlesi.

Abstract

Latar Belakang. Empati merupakan faktor penting dalam perawatan, pendidikan kedokteran, dan profesionalisme. Tujuan. Mengetahui tingkat empati mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura. Metodologi. Desain penelitian analitik dengan pendekatan potong lintang, jumlah sampel 86 mahasiswa kedokteran tahun pertama, kedua, ketiga, dan keempat, dipilih menggunakan Probability Sampling jenis Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Pengumpulan data primer menggunakan kuesioner Jefferson Scale of Empathy Student version (JSE S-Version) yang telah diterjemahkan ke bahasa Indonesia. Data sekunder berupa informasi jumlah mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran tahun pertama, kedua, ketiga dan keempat. Analisis statistik uji T tidak berpasangan dan uji One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Hasil. Rerata skor empati mahasiswa program studi kedokteran tahun pertama, kedua, ketiga, dan keempat adalah 114,77 (SD 10,187). Mahasiswa yang memiliki tingkat empati rendah sebanyak 45 (52,3%) mahasiswa, dan yang memiliki tingkat empati tinggi sebanyak 41 (47,7%) mahasiswa. Hasil analisis statistik variabel jenis kelamin menunjukkan perbedaan rerata skor empati yang signifikan (p = 0,037), sedangkan variabel tahun pendidikan menunjukan perbedaan yang tidak signifikan (p = 0,136). Simpulan. Rerata skor empati mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura 114,77 menunjukkan tingkat empati yang tinggi. Mahasiswa perempuan memiliki rerata skor empati lebih tinggi dibandingkan mahasiswa laki-laki. Rerata skor empati mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran menurun tidak signifikan seiring meningkatnya tahun pendidikan. Background. Statistical analysis on gender variable showed a significant difference in the mean score of empathy (p = 0.037), while on the year of education variable did not result in significant difference (p = 0.037). Conclusion. The average empathy score among medical student at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University was 114.77, indicates a high level of empathy. Female students had higher mean empathy scores than male students. The mean empathy score of Medical Study Program students decreased not significantly with increasing years of education. Abstract

Latar Belakang. Kecerdasan emosional berperan penting dalam pendidikan kedokteran, menyediakan perawatan klinis yang baik, dan mengelola semua relasi sebagai bagian dari proses perawatan medis. Tujuan. Mengetahui hubungan kecerdasan emosional terhadap prestasi akademik mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura. Metodologi. Desain penelitian adalah analitik pendekatan potong lintang, dengan jumlah sampel 72 mahasiswa kedokteran tahun 2016, 2017, dan 2018. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak pada bulan Oktober 2019 hingga Januari 2020. Pengambilan sampel dengan cara Probability Sampling jenis Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Data diperoleh dari pengisian data diri, kuesioner Lie Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (L-MMPI), kuesioner Kecerdasan Emosional, dan nilai Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK). Uji hipotesis menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil. Mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura sebagian besar memiliki tingkat kecerdasan emosional tinggi pada semua variabel kecerdasan emosional dan memiliki Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif sangat memuaskan. Hasil uji hipotesis hubungan prestasi akademik dengan variabel pengenalan diri (p=0,001, r= 0,392), pengendalian diri (p= 0,013, r=0,292), motivasi (p= 0,000, r=0,439), empati (p=0,001, r=0,378), keterampilan sosial (p=0,001, r=0,382). Simpulan. Terdapat hubungan positif bermakna antara prestasi akademik dengan variabel kecerdasan emosional di kalangan mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura.Background. Emotional intelligence plays an important role in medical education, providing good clinical care, and managing all relationships as part of the treatment process. Aim. To figure out the relationship between emotional intelligence and the academic achievement among Medical Program Students at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University, Indonesia Method. A cross-sectional analysis with a total sample of 72 medical students year 2016, 2017, and 2018 was done in Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University in October 2019 to January 2020. Sampling was with Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Data was obtained from self-data filling, Lie Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (L-MMPI) questionnaire, Emotional Intelligence questionnaire, and Grade Point Average (GPA) score. Data was analyzed with Spearman correlation test. Results. Most Medical Study Program students at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University (70.8%) have high levels of emotional intelligence on all emotional intelligence variables and have a very satisfying Grade Point Average. Hypothesis test results for correlation between academic achievement and self-introduction variables : p = 0.001, r = 0.392, self-control : p = 0.013, r = 0.292, motivation : p = 0.000, r = 0.439, empathy : p = 0.001, r = 0.378, social skills : p = 0.001, r = 0.382. Conclusion. There is a significant positive correlation between variables of emotional intelligence and academic achievement among Medical Study Program students at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University.

Abstract

Stres merupakan respons mental dan fisiologis tubuh terhadap stimulus yang dapat memicu berbagai kondisi dermatologi, salah satunya psoriasis. Penelitian ini merupakan studi analitik potong lintang dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan tingkat stres dan derajat keparahan psoriasis pada 35 pasien psoriasis di Poli Penyakit Kulit dan Kelamin di Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah dr. Soedarso Pontianak periode Juli 2014 – Januari 2015, dianalisis dengan uji chi-square dan uji alternatif penggabungan sel dengan tingkat kemaknaan p<0,05. Data diperoleh dari kuesioner Depression Anxiety Stress Scale dan perhitungan skor Psoriasis Area and Severity Index. Variabel yang diteliti adalah tingkat stres dan derajat keparahan psoriasis. Sampel penelitian adalah 23 laki-laki dan 12 perempuan, dengan hasil rerata skor PASI 9,94 ± 6,4 dan rata-rata nilai DASS pasien 14,4 ± 7,2. Analisis menunjukkan hubungan bermakna antara tingkat stres pasien psoriasis dan derajat keparahan psoriasis (p=0,001), sehingga disimpulkan bahwa tingkat stres berpengaruh terhadap derajat keparahan psoriasis.

Latar Belakang. Kecerdasan emosional merupakan kemampuan berkaitan dengan emosi yang dapat mempengaruhi berbagai bidang kehidupan manusia. Mahasiswa kedokteran tingkat I rentan mengalami kecemasan karena penyesuaian lingkungan pendidikan. Tujuan. Mengetahui hubungan antara kecerdasan emosional terhadap tingkat gejala kecemasan pada mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran tingkat I Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura. Metodologi. Desain penelitian adalah cross sectional dengan jumlah sampel 56 mahasiswa kedokteran tingkat I. Pengumpulan data primer menggunakan kuesioner lembar stresor, kecerdasan emosional, dan BAI (Beck Anxiety Inventory). Data sekunder berupa informasi jumlah mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran tingkat I. Uji hipotesis yaitu uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil. Mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran tingkat I sebagian besar memiliki tingkat kecerdasan emosional sedang untuk variabel pengenalan diri, pengendalian diri, motivasi diri, empati, dan keterampilan sosial. Jumlah mahasiswa yang tidak mengalami kecemasan sebanyak 20 (35,7%). Mahasiswa yang mengalami kecemasan ringan sebanyak 10 (17,9%), kecemasan sedang 18 (32,1%) dan kecemasan berat 8 (14,3%). Hasil uji hipotesis variabel pengenalan diri (p= 0,000; r= -0,467), pengendalian diri (p= 0,120; r= -0,210), motivasi diri (p= 0,023; r= -0,304), empati (p= 0,039; r= -0,277), dan keterampilan sosial (p= 0,000; r= -0,521) terhadap tingkat gejala kecemasan. Simpulan. Terdapat korelasi negatif yang signifikan antara variabel pengenalan diri, motivasi diri, empati dan keterampilan sosial terhadap tingkat gejala kecemasan. Tidak terdapat hubungan signifikan antara variabel pengendalian diri terhadap tingkat gejala kecemasan.Background. Emotional intelligence is an ability related to emotions that can affect various areas of human life. First-year medical students are vulnerable to anxiety caused by adjustment disorder to new educational environment. Purpose. To assess the relationship between emotional intelligence and the anxiety level among first-year medical students of Tanjungpura University Medical School. Methods. The design was cross sectional on 56 first-year medical students. Primary data were collected by stressor sheet, emotional intelligence, and BAI (Beck Anxiety Inventory) questionnares. Secondary data was the information on number of first-year students in Medical Program. Data was analysed by Spearman correlation. Results. Most first-year medical students had moderate level of emotional intelligence for self-recognition, self-control, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills variables. Twenty (35,7%) students did not experience anxiety. Ten students experienced mild anxiety 10 (17,9%), 18 (32,1%) moderate anxiety and 8 (14,3%).severe anxiety. Self-recognition (p= 0,000; r= -0,467), self-control (p= 0,120; r= -0,210), self-motivation (p= 0,023; r= -0,304), empathy (p= 0,039; r= -0,277), and social skills (p= 0,000; r= -0,521) were correlated with the level of anxiety symptoms. Conclusion. There were significant negative correlation between self-recognition, self-motivation, empathy and social skils variables with the level of anxiety symptoms. No significant relationship between self-control with the level of anxiety symptoms.

Abstract

Kekurangan energi protein (KEP) merupakan masalah dunia, dengan prevalensi 15,1% pada tahun 2012. Pada KEP hampir seluruh organ berkurang massanya sebagai mekanisme kompensasi. KEP menyebabkan atrofi usus halus yang menyebabkan kegagalan pencernaan dan memperparah KEP. Makin lama KEP, berat badan dan berat usus halus tikus Sprague-Dawley makin rendah; penurunan berat tersebut akan berhenti pada suatu saat. Berat badan rendah dikaitkan dengan rendahnya berat usus halus tikus Sprague-Dawley pada KEP.Protein Energy Malnutrition (PEM) is a worldwide problem, with 15.1% prevalence in 2012. In PEM most organs loss mass as mechanism of compensation. PEM leads to small intestine atrophy that cause intestinal failure and worsening PEM. Body weight and small intestine weight of Sprague-Dawley rats are decreasing in PEM. The rates of decreases is smaller over time and stop at a certain point. Low body weight is associated with low small intestine weight of Sprague-Dawley rats with PEM.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Salah satu standar kompetensi dokter lulusan Indonesia adalah profesionalisme; usaha pembelajaran profesionalisme sangat tepat jika dimulai sejak dini. Tujuan: Mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa kedokteran Prodi Kedokteran FK UNTAN tahap akademik dan profesi tentang konsep profesionalisme dokter. Metodologi: Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan wawancara mendalam. Pemilihan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Responden berjumlah 10 orang mahasiswa. Analisis data dengan analisis tematik. Hasil: Sebanyak 7 dari total 10 responden (70%) mendefinisikan profesionalisme dokter yaitu seorang dokter yang bekerja sesuai standar profesi dokter. Mengenai persepsi atribut perilaku profesionalisme, 7 responden (70%) menyatakan bahwa dokter yang profesional harus memiliki tanggung jawab. Seluruh responden menyatakan prinsip pembelajaran profesionalisme yaitu dilatih dan diterapkan sejak mahasiswa akademik-profesi hingga menjadi dokter serta terintegrasi dengan kurikulum. Sebanyak 5 responden (50%) menyatakan peran penting profesionalisme pada pendidikan kedokteran yaitu belajar profesionalisme agar terbiasa saat menjadi dokter. Simpulan: Profesionalisme dalam kedokteran perlu diperkenalkan kepada mahasiswa sejak dini. Pendidikan profesionalisme juga harus dengan pengarahan dan bimbingan.Background: One of the standard of competencies of Indonesian Doctor is professionalism. Professionalism is obligatory for all doctors and this competence can be acquired at early phase. Objective: This paper aims to identify the perceptions of academic and profession stage medical students in Tanjungpura University on the concept of doctor’s professionalism. Methodology: This paper was a descriptive qualitative with in-depth interview. Ten participants were selected through purposive sampling method. Data were analysed thematically. Results: Seven of 10 participants (70%) defined doctor’s professionalism as work according to the standards of doctor profession. Seven (70%) participants stated that a professional doctor must have a sense of responsibility. All participants indicated that professionalism training should begin in academic-profession level. Five respondents (50%) stated the important role of professionalism in medical education, namely learning professionalism to get used to being a doctor. Conclusion: In medical faculty, professionalism should be introduced as early as possible.

Abstract

Research activity is one of the requirements for medical students in order to finish their study. Therefore, it needs to examine the knowledge and perceptions of medical students about medical research. The research design was an experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 86 medical students, with the statistical tests using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. After the module implementation, the students’ knowledge about research had improved in the concept of theoretical basis, the concept of research methodology, and the biostatistics methods. However, there was no improvement in bioethical knowledge. Close relations between the result of pre- and post-research modules implementation were shown in the knowledge about theoretical basis, about research methodology, and the perception of workloads in college have (p<α). There were significant changes in knowledge (Z=-2.867, p=0.004) and perceptions (Z=-1.964, p=0.050) of the medical students pre- and post-research module. Giving research modules early, along with social and academic support for medical students, would improve their knowledge and positive perceptions towards research.

Abstract

Latar Belakang. Kecerdasan emosional berperan penting dalam pendidikan kedokteran, menyediakan perawatan klinis yang baik, dan mengelola semua relasi sebagai bagian dari proses perawatan medis. Tujuan. Mengetahui hubungan kecerdasan emosional terhadap prestasi akademik mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura. Metodologi. Desain penelitian adalah analitik pendekatan potong lintang, dengan jumlah sampel 72 mahasiswa kedokteran tahun angkatan 2016, 2017, dan 2018. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak pada bulan Oktober 2019 hingga Januari 2020. Pengambilan sampel dengan cara Probability Sampling jenis Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Data diperoleh dari pengisian data diri, kuesioner Lie Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (L-MMPI), kuesioner Kecerdasan Emosional, dan nilai Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK). Uji hipotesis menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil. Mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura sebagian besar memiliki tingkat kecerdasan emosional tinggi pada semua variabel kecerdasan emosional dan memiliki Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif sangat memuaskan. Hasil uji hipotesis hubungan prestasi akademik dengan variabel pengenalan diri (p=0,001; r= 0,392), pengendalian diri (p= 0,013; r=0,292), motivasi (p= 0,000; r=0,439), empati (p=0,001; r=0,378), keterampilan sosial (p=0,001; r=0,382). Simpulan. Terdapat hubungan positif bermakna antara prestasi akademik dan variabel kecerdasan emosional di kalangan mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura. Background. Emotional intelligence plays an important role in medical education, providing good clinical care, and managing all relationships as part of the treatment process. Aim. To figure out the relationship between emotional intelligence and the academic achievement among Medical Program Students at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University, Indonesia Method. A cross-sectional analysis with a total sample of 72 medical students year 2016, 2017, and 2018 was done in Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University in October 2019 to January 2020. Sampling was with Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Data was obtained from self-data filling, Lie Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (L-MMPI) questionnaire, Emotional Intelligence questionnaire, and Grade Point Average (GPA) score. Data was analyzed with Spearman correlation test. Results. Most Medical Study Program students at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University (70.8%) have high levels of emotional intelligence on all emotional intelligence variables and have a very satisfying Grade Point Average. Hypothesis test results for correlation between academic achievement and self-introduction variables : p = 0.001, r = 0.392, self-control : p = 0.013, r = 0.292, motivation : p = 0.000, r = 0.439, empathy : p = 0.001, r = 0.378, social skills : p = 0.001, r = 0.382. Conclusion. There is a significant positive correlation between variables of emotional intelligence and academic achievement among Medical Study Program students at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University.
