Abstract

Latar Belakang. Empati merupakan faktor penting dalam perawatan, pendidikan kedokteran, dan profesionalisme. Tujuan. Mengetahui tingkat empati mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura. Metodologi. Desain penelitian analitik dengan pendekatan potong lintang, jumlah sampel 86 mahasiswa kedokteran tahun pertama, kedua, ketiga, dan keempat, dipilih menggunakan Probability Sampling jenis Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Pengumpulan data primer menggunakan kuesioner Jefferson Scale of Empathy Student version (JSE S-Version) yang telah diterjemahkan ke bahasa Indonesia. Data sekunder berupa informasi jumlah mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran tahun pertama, kedua, ketiga dan keempat. Analisis statistik uji T tidak berpasangan dan uji One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Hasil. Rerata skor empati mahasiswa program studi kedokteran tahun pertama, kedua, ketiga, dan keempat adalah 114,77 (SD 10,187). Mahasiswa yang memiliki tingkat empati rendah sebanyak 45 (52,3%) mahasiswa, dan yang memiliki tingkat empati tinggi sebanyak 41 (47,7%) mahasiswa. Hasil analisis statistik variabel jenis kelamin menunjukkan perbedaan rerata skor empati yang signifikan (p = 0,037), sedangkan variabel tahun pendidikan menunjukan perbedaan yang tidak signifikan (p = 0,136). Simpulan. Rerata skor empati mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura 114,77 menunjukkan tingkat empati yang tinggi. Mahasiswa perempuan memiliki rerata skor empati lebih tinggi dibandingkan mahasiswa laki-laki. Rerata skor empati mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran menurun tidak signifikan seiring meningkatnya tahun pendidikan. Background. Empathy is an important factor in patient care, medical education, and professionalism. Purpose. To measure the level of empathy among medical students at the Faculty of Medicine Tanjungpura University. Methodology. The research design was analytic cross-sectional approach with 86 respondents from first, second, third, and fourth year medical students, using the Probability Sampling method of Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling. Primary data was collected by Jefferson Scale of Empathy Student version (JSE S-Version) questionnaire Indonesian translation. Secondary data was from information on the Medical Study Program students in the first, second, third, and fourth year. Statistical analysis used independent samples T test and One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test. Results. The mean empathy scores of first, second, third, and fourth year medical students are 114,77 (SD 10,187). Students with low level of empathy are 45 (52.3%) students, and high level of empathy was found in 41 (47.7%) students. Statistical analysis on gender variable showed a significant difference in the mean score of empathy (p = 0.037), while on the year of education variable did not result in significant difference (p = 0.037). Conclusion. The average empathy score among medical student at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University was 114.77, indicates a high level of empathy. Female students had higher mean empathy scores than male students. The mean empathy score of Medical Study Program students decreased not significantly with increasing years of education.

Abstract

Latar Belakang. Kepribadian merupakan keseluruhan pola tingkah laku yang aktual ataupun potensial individu yang ditentukan oleh faktor keturunan dan lingkungan. Kepribadian introvert dan ekstrovert memunculkan respons berbeda dalam menghadapi situasi/lingkungan akademis yang dapat memengaruhi pencapaian indeks prestasi kumulatif (IPK). Tujuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara tipe kepribadian introvert dan ekstrovert terhadap prestasi akademik mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran tahun angkatan 2016 Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura. Metodologi. Penelitian analitik cross-sectional pada 50 responden mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran angkatan 2016 yang dipilih secara non-probability sampling. Data diperoleh dari pengisian data diri, kuesioner Lie Minnessota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (L-MMPI), kuesioner Eysenck Personality Inventory-A (EPI-A), dan nilai IPK. Hasil. Nilai IPK sebagian besar (76%) pada rentang 2,75-3,50, dan 64% berkepribadian ekstrovert. Hubungan antara kedua variabel penelitian tidak bermakna (uji Kendall’s tau-b = 0,172 > 0,05). Simpulan. Tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara tipe kepribadian dan prestasi akademik mahasiswa di populasi studi ini. Background. Personality is the overall pattern of behavior that is actual or potential determined by hereditary and environmental factors. Introvert or extrovert personality may give different responses to academic situation/environment that may impact grade point average (GPA) achievement. Purpose. This study aims to determine the relationship between type of personalities and the academic achievements among Medical Study Program students year 2016 at the Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University. Method. A cross-sectional analytic study on 50 Medical Study Program students year 2016. Sampling was chosen by non-probability sampling. Data were obtained from personal data record, Lie Minessota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (L-MMPI) questionnaire, Eysenck Personality Inventory-A (EPI-A) questionnaire, and GPA score. Results. GPA was mostly (76%) in the range of 2.75-3.50, and 64% respodents were extrovert. No significant relationship between the variables (Kendall’s tau-b = 0.172 > 0.05). Conclusion. No significant relationship between type of personalities and academic achievement in this study population.

Abstract

Latar Belakang. Kecerdasan emosional merupakan kemampuan berkaitan dengan emosi yang dapat mempengaruhi berbagai bidang kehidupan manusia. Mahasiswa kedokteran tingkat I rentan mengalami kecemasan karena penyesuaian lingkungan pendidikan. Tujuan. Mengetahui hubungan antara kecerdasan emosional terhadap tingkat gejala kecemasan pada mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran tingkat I Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura. Metodologi. Desain penelitian adalah cross sectional dengan jumlah sampel 56 mahasiswa kedokteran tingkat I. Pengumpulan data primer menggunakan kuesioner lembar stresor, kecerdasan emosional, dan BAI (Beck Anxiety Inventory). Data sekunder berupa informasi jumlah mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran tingkat I. Uji hipotesis yaitu uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil. Mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran tingkat I sebagian besar memiliki tingkat kecerdasan emosional sedang untuk variabel pengenalan diri, pengendalian diri, motivasi diri, empati, dan keterampilan sosial. Jumlah mahasiswa yang tidak mengalami kecemasan sebanyak 20 (35,7%). Mahasiswa yang mengalami kecemasan ringan sebanyak 10 (17,9%), kecemasan sedang 18 (32,1%) dan kecemasan berat 8 (14,3%). Hasil uji hipotesis variabel pengenalan diri (p=0,000; r=-0,467), pengendalian diri (p=0,120; r=-0,210), motivasi diri (p=0,023; r=-0,304), empati (p=0,039; r=-0,277), dan keterampilan sosial (p=0,000; r=-0,521) terhadap tingkat gejala kecemasan. Simpulan. Terdapat korelasi negatif yang signifikan antara variabel pengenalan diri, motivasi diri, empati dan keterampilan sosial terhadap tingkat gejala kecemasan. Tidak terdapat hubungan signifikan antara variabel pengendalian diri terhadap tingkat gejala kecemasan. Background. Emotional intelligence is an ability related to emotions that can affect various areas of human life. First-year medical students are vulnerable to anxiety caused by adjustment disorder to new educational environment. Purpose. To assess the relationship between emotional intelligence and the anxiety level among first-year medical students of Tanjungpura University Medical School. Methods. The design was cross sectional on 56 first-year medical students. Primary data were collected by stressor sheet, emotional intelligence, and BAI (Beck Anxiety Inventory) questionnares. Secondary data was the information on number of first-year students in Medical Program. Data was analysed by Spearman correlation. Results. Most first-year medical students had moderate level of emotional intelligence for self-recognition, self-control, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills variables. Twenty (35,7%) students did not experience anxiety. Ten students experienced mild anxiety 10 (17,9%), 18 (32,1%) moderate anxiety and 8 (14,3%).severe anxiety. Self-recognition (p=0,000; r=-0,467), self-control (p=0,120; r=-0,210), self-motivation (p=0,023; r=-0,304), empathy (p=0,039; r=-0,277), and social skills (p=0,000; r=-0,521) were correlated with the level of anxiety symptoms. Conclusion. There were significant negative correlation between self-recognition, self-motivation, empathy and social skils variables with the level of anxiety symptoms. No significant relationship between self-control with the level of anxiety symptoms.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Dispepsia merupakan sindrom nyeri atau rasa tidak nyaman di epigastrium, kembung, mual, muntah, sendawa, rasa cepat kenyang, dan perut terasa penuh. Salah satu faktor yang memicu keluhan dispepsia adalah kecemasan. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan antara tingkat kecemasan dan dispepsia pada pasien rawat jalan di Rumah Sakit Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak. Metode: Penelitian analitik korelasi dengan desain cross-sectional. Variabel bebas penelitian ini adalah tingkat kecemasan; sedangkan variabel terikat adalah dispepsia. Total sampel sebanyak 39 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan simple random sampling. Data dianalisis dengan uji Spearman (SPSS 23). Hasil: Hasil analisis variabel menunjukkan adanya hubungan bermakna (p = 0,001) antara tingkat kecemasan dan dispepsia pada pasien rawat jalan di Rumah Sakit Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak dengan korelasi positif berkekuatan sedang (r = 0,493). Simpulan: Terdapat hubungan antara tingkat kecemasan dan dispepsia pada pasien rawat jalan di Rumah Sakit Universitas Tanjungpura Pontianak. Background: Dyspepsia is a syndrome consisting of pain or discomfort in the epigastrium, bloating, nausea, vomiting, belching, early satiety, and fullness. Anxiety can trigger dyspepsia. Aim: To determine the relationship between anxiety level and dyspepsia in outpatients at Tanjungpura University Hospital Pontianak. Method: A correlation analytic study with cross-sectional design; the independent variable was anxiety level and the dependent variable was dyspepsia. A total of 39 samples were collected with simple random sampling method. Data were analyzed by the Spearman test (SPSS 23). Result: There is a significant positive correlation between anxiety level and dyspepsia in outpatients at Tanjungpura University Hospital Pontianak (p = 0.001) with moderate strength (r = 0.493). Conclusion: There is a relationship between anxiety level and dyspepsia in outpatients at Tanjungpura University Hospital Pontianak.

Latar Belakang: Salah satu standar kompetensi dokter lulusan Indonesia adalah profesionalisme; usaha pembelajaran profesionalisme sangat tepat jika dimulai sejak dini. Tujuan: Mengetahui persepsi mahasiswa kedokteran Prodi Kedokteran FK UNTAN tahap akademik dan profesi tentang konsep profesionalisme dokter. Metodologi: Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan wawancara mendalam. Pemilihan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Responden berjumlah 10 orang mahasiswa. Analisis data dengan analisis tematik. Hasil: Sebanyak 7 dari total 10 responden (70%) mendefinisikan profesionalisme dokter yaitu seorang dokter yang bekerja sesuai standar profesi dokter. Mengenai persepsi atribut perilaku profesionalisme, 7 responden (70%) menyatakan bahwa dokter yang profesional harus memiliki tanggung jawab. Seluruh responden menyatakan prinsip pembelajaran profesionalisme yaitu dilatih dan diterapkan sejak mahasiswa akademikprofesi hingga menjadi dokter serta terintegrasi dengan kurikulum. Sebanyak 5 responden (50%) menyatakan peran penting profesionalisme pada pendidikan kedokteran yaitu belajar profesionalisme agar terbiasa saat menjadi dokter. Simpulan: Profesionalisme dalam kedokteran perlu diperkenalkan kepada mahasiswa sejak dini. Pendidikan profesionalisme juga harus dengan pengarahan dan bimbingan. Background: One of the standard of competencies of Indonesian Doctor is professionalism. Professionalism is obligatory for all doctors and this competence can be acquired at early phase. Objective: This paper aims to identify the perceptions of academic and profession stage medical students in Tanjungpura University on the concept of doctor’s professionalism. Methodology: This paper was a descriptive qualitative with in-depth interview. Ten participants were selected through purposive sampling method. Data were analysed thematically. Results: Seven of 10 participants (70%) defined doctor’s professionalism as work according to the standards of doctor profession. Seven (70%) participants stated that a professional doctor must have a sense of responsibility. All participants indicated that professionalism training should begin in academicprofession level. Five respondents (50%) stated the important role of professionalism in medical education, namely learning professionalism to get used to being a doctor. Conclusion: In medical faculty, professionalism should be introduced as early as possible

Abstract

Introduction: Distance or online learning conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic causes a lack of interaction among students which affects the level of empathy of these students. Online learning also causes stress in medical students which can lead to burnout. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of empathy and the level of burnout among students of the Tanjungpura University Medical Study Program class of 2019. Methods: The method used in this research is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The research population was students of the Tanjungpura University Medical Study Program class of 2019 who were taken using a sampling technique in the form of total sampling with a minimum sample size of 76 people. Bivariate analysis using Spearman correlation test. Results: The results obtained from the Spearman correlation test based on SPSS 24.0 analysis obtained a significance value of 0.768 (p>0.05) for the relationship between the level of empathy and the level of burnout. Conclusion: There is no relationship between the level of empathy and the level of burnout in students of the Medical Study Program at Tanjungpura University class 2019.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran dengan kecerdasan emosional dan perilaku perfesional yang baik akan dapat memberikan kualitas pelayanan terbaik, sehingga memaksimalkan pelayanan kesehatan. Kecerdasan emosional juga diperlukan untuk pengembangan perilaku profesional. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan kecerdasan emosional dengan perilaku profesional mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura angkatan 2019. Metode: Studi analitik observasional jenis cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian merupakan mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran angkatan 2019. Teknik pengumpulan sampel, yaitu total sampling dengan subjek penelitian 171 orang. Analisis bivariat menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil: Mahasiswa Program Studi Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura angkatan 2019 sebagian besar memiliki tingkat kecerdasan emosional sedang dan memiliki perilaku profesional di bawah rata-rata. Terdapat hubungan positif bermakna antara variabel pengendalian diri, empati, dan keterampilan sosial pada kecerdasan emosional terhadap perilaku profesional mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Tanjungpura angkatan 2019. Background: Faculty of medicine students with high emotional control will manage their feelings and emotions well to provide the best quality of service. Students need to develop their professional behavior from the beginning of educational process. Purpose: To determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and professional behavior among Faculty of Medicine students, Tanjungpura University batch 2019. Method: A cross-sectional observational analytical study. The respondents were Faculty of Medicine students, Tanjungpura University batch 2019 with a total sampling of 171 respondents. Bivariate analysis used the Spearman correlation test. Result: Students of the Medical Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University batch 2019 mostly have a moderate level of emotional intelligence and below-average professional behavior. There is a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and professional behavior on the variables of self-control, empathy, and social skills.

Abstract

Background. Medical students as a future medical personnel needs empathy to understand patients. However, anxiety due to assignments and lectures can be a barrier in expressing empathy. Emotional intelligence can affect the application of empathy and in overcoming anxie`ty. Purpose. To search the relationship between emotional intelligence and the level of empathy and anxiety among students of Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University, year 2020. Methods. A cross-sectional analytic study on Faculty of Medicine, Tanjungpura University students, year 2020 with total sampling technique. Data from 203 samples was obtained from filling in personal data, L-MMPI questionnaire, stressor sheet, emotional intelligence, JSE S-Version, JSE HPS-Version, and BAI. Spearman correlation test was used for analysis. Results. Hypothesis test results in relation with empathy: self-awareness (p = 0.050; r = 0.138), self-control (p = 0.109; r = 0.113), self- motivation (p = 0.000; r = 0.305), social awareness (p = 0.039; r = 0.14, and social skills (p = 0.025; r = 0.157). Hypothesis test results in relation with anxiety: self-awareness (p = 0,000; r = -0.250), self-control (p = 0.013; r = -0.174), self-motivation (p = 0.013; r = -0.174), social awareness (p = 0.006; r = -0.192), and social skills (p = 0.000; r = -0.243). Conclusion. There are significant positive relationships between self-awareness, self-motivation, social awareness, and social skills on levels of empathy; and significant negative relationship between self-awareness, self-control, self-motivation, social awareness, and social skills on levels of anxiety.

Abstract

Introduction: First-year medical faculty students are one of the populations that often experience academic stress. Academic stress can affect academic achievement. Parents’ social support will make their children able to undergo lectures and show good academic achievement. This research aims to determine the relationship between academic stress and parents’ social support on academic achievement among Medicine Faculty students, Tanjungpura University batch 2020. Methods: A cross-sectional observational analytical study. There search population was Medicine Faculty students, Tanjungpura University batch 2020. The research sample was 239 people, chosen by simple random sampling technique. Data was obtained from filling in personal data, student academic stress scale (SASS) questionnaire, parents’ social support questionnaire, and cumulative grade point average. Bivariate analysis used the Spearman correlation test. Results: The result of the correlation test for academic stress and academic achievement was p=0,146; r=0,094; and the correlation test for parents’ social support and academic achievement was p=0,016; r=0,156. Conclusion: There is an insignificant positive relationship between academic stress and academic achievement and a significant positive relationship between parents’ social support and academic achievement.

Abstract

The 2018 Indonesian Basic Health Research Data presented an increase in the number of cesarean sections from the previous years, with an increase of 17.6%. In Anugerah Bunda Khatulistiwa Hospital, a private hospital in Pontianak, Indonesia, cesarean section was performed in 689 and 641 cases in 2021 and 2022, respectively. This trend highlights the importance of understanding the anesthesia methods used during this procedure, including spinal anesthesia. Despite the common use of this type of anesthesia, spinal anesthesia an cause changes in the maternal blood pressure. This study aimed to determine the effect of spinal anesthesia on patients’ blood pressure during cesarean section. This retrospective observational analytical study was conducted at the Anugerah Bunda Khatulistiwa Hospital Pontianak, Indonesia, from May 2023 to January 2024. Medical records were selected from 246 patients using consecutive sampling method. Most patients aged between 27 and 29 years, with 207 were in the productive age group (20-35 years). The mean weight was 72.77 kg (±10.43) and the mean height was 156.70 cm (±5.85). The majority were overweight based on the BMI score (n=111), and the spinal anesthesia dose used was 15 mg bupivacaine. The Friendman test on the systolic and diastolic blood pressures before and after anesthesia to determine the effect of spinal anesthesia on blood pressure. The results showed a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05) for both systolic and diastolic observations. This indicates that spinal anesthesia influences the blood pressure of patients undergoing cesarean sections under spinal anesthesia.
