Abstract

Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common condition and a global health problem with various causes that lead to a gradual decline in kidney function, resulting in increased creatinine levels. This condition reduces the production of the hormone erythropoietin (EPO), which stimulates the bone marrow to produce red blood cells, leading to decreased hemoglobin levels and resulting in anemia. Erythropoietin (EPO) therapy represents a primary therapeutic option for the management of anemia in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) PurposeTo determine the relationship between creatinine and hemoglobin levels in chronic kidney disease patients as a reference for erythropoietin (EPO) therapy. Methods: This study employed an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach by reviewing medical record data. The sample consisted of 56 patients obtained through total sampling. The data were analyzed using the Pearson correlation test. Results: The average creatinine level was 9.92 mg/dL, and the average hemoglobin (Hb) level was 7.96 g/dL. Pearson correlation analysis between creatinine and hemoglobin levels in patients receiving erythropoietin (EPO) therapy showed a statistically significant result with a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05) and a moderate negative correlation (r = -0.436). Conclusion: A significant negative correlation was found between creatinine and hemoglobin levels in patients undergoing EPO therapy, indicating that higher creatinine levels tend to be associated with lower hemoglobin concentrations.

Abstract

Blood glucose is the body's main energy source and is greatly influenced by the consumption patterns of food and beverages, especially those containing sugar. Uncontrolled increases in blood glucose levels can lead to metabolic disorders such as Diabetes Mellitus. Consumption of sweetened tea containing added sugar can cause a rapid spike in blood glucose levels, especially when consumed regularly and in excessive amounts. The purpose of this study is to find out the difference in blood glucose levels before and after sweet tea consumption in the Marong Village community. This study uses a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 16 respondents were selected using the purposive sampling technique. Blood glucose levels were checked before and two hours after the consumption of sweet tea using the POCT (Point of Care Testing) tool. Data were analyzed using a statistical paired sample t-test. The results of the study showed obtained the average blood glucose level before the consumption of sweet tea was 88.3 mg/dL, and after consumption was 97.3 mg/dL, with an average difference of 8.3 mg/dL. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means that there is a statistically significant difference. This study concludes that the consumption of sweet tea has a significant influence on increasing blood glucose levels.

Abstract

Staphylococcus aureus bacteria is one of the agents of health problems that require special attention. Inappropriate use of antibiotics can cause resistance, so a more effective and safe alternative treatment is needed, one of which is by giving aloe vera gel formulations and tintir castor leaves that can help overcome bacterial infections, such as Staphylococcus aureus. Knowing the effect of aloe vera gel formulation (Aloe vera) and tintir castor leaf (Jatropha multifida) on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The study was pre-experimental with a cross sectional design. Gel formulations were made with various comparisons between aloe vera gel and tintir castor leaf, then tested against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria by observing the inhibition zone as an indicator of antibacterial activity. The results of testing the Aloe vera gel formulation and castor leaf filtrate showed that there was no inhibition zone in each of the tested formulation ratios. In the testing using Aloe vera gel formulations and Jatropha multifida leaf extract, no inhibition zones were observed in the 1:1 and 1:3 ratios, but an inhibition zone was present in the 3:1 ratio, measuring 4–6 mm with an average inhibition zone of 5 mm. This result can be considered sensitive but at a low level for inhibiting bacterial growth. There is an effect of Aloe vera gel and jarak tintir leaf formulation on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.

Abstract

Examination of ketones in the patient's urine and measuring the patient's blood sugar level will determine whether there will be metabolic acidosis in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, which is a metabolic disorder that can be caused by various etiologies, such as chronic hyperglycemia due to impaired insulin secretion or impaired insulin action. alone. Diabetes Mellitus type 1 itself is more caused by reduced insulin secretion due to damage to pancreatic -cells. This study was conducted to examine ketones in urine on the duration of suffering from type 1 diabetes mellitus when metabolic acidosis occurs Data collection in this study was carried out by accidental sampling method by researchers to collect secondary and primary data on urine ketones in patients with metabolic acidosis. Based on research that has been done, data obtained from 34 patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus at the Sigerongan Health Center, as many as 8 patients with positive results of urine ketones with a prevalence of +2 totaling 3 people and +3 totaling 5 people. Judging from the high level of glucose (hyperglycemia) that is > 200 mg/dl and the positivity of ketone bodies in the patient's urine as a sign of metabolic acidosis. With a long-susceptibility to suffer from diabetes mellitus 1-5 years and above. The results of measuring ketone levels in the patient's urine show that there is no relationship with the duration of suffering from diabetes mellitus in the urine but blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Carbohydrate diet is a diet pattern that reduces carbohydrate consumption. Therefore, the body will use fat as an alternative energy source. The continuous use of fat causes the accumulation of fatty acids so it is often the cause of ketone positivity in the urine. Objective: Find out the effect of a carbohydrate diet program on the positivity of urine ketones. Method this research is an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample used was urine from respondents who had been on a carbohydrate diet for 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years, then urine ketones were examined using the dipstick method. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square test with a confidence value (α = 0.05). Result: The sample in this study amounted to 45 samples, with a total of 23 samples of positive ketones and 22 samples of negative ketones. The results of the Chi-Square test obtained an Asymp.sig value of 0.009 <0.05 (α) which indicates that the carbohydrate diet program has a significant effect on the positivity of urine ketones. The carbohydrate diet program affects urine ketone levels.
