Abstract

Sedap malam (Polianthes tuberose L) is cut flower, broadcast flower and natural oil crop. The aims of this research is to increased quality and productivity of flowers. Field experiment was conducted during Februari to September 2008 in polibag and Factorial Randomized Block Design was applied with three (3) replications. The treatment consist of 4 level of colchicines concentration (0, 100, 200 and 300 ppm) and 3 level length of inundation (3, 6 and 9 hour). The result showed that there is an interaction between concentration and length of inundation on length of flower stalk, size of flower and time of harvest. Application of 100 ppm and 3 hour inundation made longer stalk of flower but become shorter when continue inundation up to 9 hour. Size of flower increased with increased concentration and inundation, but colchicine did not affected number of flowers

Abstract

Mango is one of export commodities of Indonesia. The research objective was to character-rize the mango flowers and fruit crossing of Arumanis-143 (A) x Swarnarika (S), Arumanis-143 (A) x Haden (H) and Arumanis-143 (A) x Carabao (C). Experiments through descriptive methods. Morphological characters of mango flowers included the emerging time of flower, flower per cluster numbers, flower per cluster numbers, fruit per cluster numbers, fruit set, color of flower stalk, flower petal color and the color of the ovary. Morphological characters of fruit were the fruit physiologival maturity days, numbers of fruit per tree, fruit weight per plant, fruit length, fruit width, fruit flesh thick, thickness of rind, fruit hardness, seed length, seed width, fruit shape, fruit tip shape, color ripe fruit peel, seed coat color and flesh color. Organoleptic characters were determined by attractive color, distinctive fragrance, fruit flavor and prime of fruit size. The results presented that Cluster 1 consisted of 34 or 97,14% progeny that have distances close kinship with the parent and has a similarity, cluster 2 only AS 2 has a far distance kinship with-parents Arumanis-143 or by 2.86%. Abstract

Phalaenopsis amabilis is one orchid flower have a higher economic value commercial flowers.The aims of this study was to determine Plant Growth Regulators (PGR) in inducing flowering Phalaenopsis sp. Randomized Complete Block Design was used with three replications. Non destructive observations were made such as number of leaves and leaf area, initiation of flower spike, length of flower stalk, flower initiation, length of panicle, number of flowers bud, Number of flowers bloom, flower diameter, and percentage of flowering plants. The results showed that there is interaction between kinds of PGR and types of flowers on vegetative growth. The best applications PGR is BA 200 ppm inducing flowering 100% and accelerate the time of flower initiation 23 days after treatment. Aplication 100 ppm Paclobutrazol promote 50% in the percentage of flowering and 100 ppm GA3 promote 33.3% in the percentage . Effect of Paclobutrazol on Phalaenopisi only for type of purple flower

Abstract

Orchid are one kinds of highest estetic flower in the international orchid market. The aim of the research is evaluate application of fertilizer and watering Dendrobium undulatum at vegetative phase. This research was conducted at Venus Orchids during April – July 2010 location in Tegalweru village, Dau, Malang. Factorial Randomized Completed Design with three replication. The treatment are: Factor I: Concentration of fertilizer, P1: 1,0 g/l, P2: 1,5 g/l, P3: 2,0 g/l, P4: 2,5 g/l, P5: 3,0 g/l. Factor II: Watering volume, V1: 10 cc/pot, V2: 15 cc/pot, V3: 20 cc/pot. The result showed there is interaction between the usage of leaf fertilizer concentration and water volume on vegetative growth Dendrobium undulatum. There is no significant difference on parameters number of leaf, height of plant, number of root and fresh weight of plant with leaf fertilizer concentration on Dendrobium undulatum at vegetative phase. There significant difference on parameters leaf area, height of plant, and fresh weight of plant with usage water volume on Dendrobium undulatum, on water volume 10 cc/pot showed result better than usage water volume 15 cc/pot, or 20 cc/pot

Abstract

Gladiol is one of importance cut flower with high economic value due to beautiful kinds and colors. The aims of this research is to improved growth and flower quality of gladiola. Polibag experiment was conducted during December 2007 to February 2008 at Green house Faculty of Agriculture University of Brawijaya. Randomized Factorial Block Design and three (3) replication was applied with two factors. First factors consists of four planting media (hust cole, cocopeat, cocopeat + hust cole (4 : 1), cocopeat + hust cole (1 : 4) and second factor was three levels of SP36 ( 4, 8 and 12 g/polibag). The result showed that there is an interaction between media and fosfat fertilizer only on number of leaves, but did not on other parameters observed

Abstract

In Indonesia, orchid is one of advanted crop. Crop multiplication of orchids usually produce with seed culture. Each embryo from seed culture can be multiplied by mericlone. The objective of this research is determine the type of media benzyl adenine concentration for growing and embryo’s proliferation of Phaleaenopsis amabilis. The research used complete randomized design factorial consist of 2 factors with 3 replications. First factor is type of media consist of 3 levels which are ½ Murashige and Skoog (½ MS), Vacin and Went (VW), New Phalaenopsis (NP). Second factor is Benzyl adenine concentration consist of 4 levels which are 0 ppm, 0.5 ppm, 1 ppm and 1.5 ppm. Each bottle are inoculated by 5 embryos/PLB of white Phalaenopsis amabilis. Data had been analyzed with F test in 5% level. The highest number of embryos per explants are shown from combination between ½ MS media with 0.5ppm BA. The results showed that highest number of leaves and roots per explants are from NP media. Media without benzyl adenine produced the highest number of leaves and roots. The highest number of diameter is produced by VW media which combine with 1.5 ppm benzyl adenine
