One of the facilities in the teaching and learning process that should be considered is the laboratory. The laboratory is an effective learning resource to achieve the expected competencies for students in increasing efficiency and effectiveness; the laboratory must be managed and utilized correctly. Science learning is not just theory; it is necessary to carry out practical activities in the laboratory. Following Permendiknas No 24 of 2007, laboratory facilities and infrastructure are needed to support practicum activities. This study aims to determine the carrying capacity of the science laboratory facilities at SMP IT Bina Ilmi Palembang and determine the obstacles faced in conducting practicums at the science laboratory at SMP IT Bina Ilmi Palembang. This study uses descriptive qualitative research. The results showed that most science laboratory facilities in schools needed to meet the standards of Permendiknas No. 24 of 2007. There were many areas for improvement in the availability of practicum equipment and media that could support practicum implementation activities to increase student learning outcomes. Obstacles that affect practicum activities are the lack of ability to manage school laboratories, lack of understanding of the meaning and function of school laboratories and their implications for the development and improvement of science learning systems, the limited ability of teachers to master subjects, and uneven procurement and distribution of Science Kit teaching aids so that makes it difficult for the teacher activity center to carry out its coaching function for teachers. Ironically, the existence of a school laboratory is considered a burden, so it is rarely used correctly.

Research on predatory predation of Paederus sp. (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) was carried out to study the functional response of the predator Paederus sp. Functional response is a form and size predictor of consumer impact on resource populations, determining the effectiveness of a predator as an agent in biological control. Predation time in hungry and not-hungry conditions influences predator-prey interactions, which are essential in functional response. The method used in predating Paederus sp. on the prey of aphids was Aphid spp. They are using four levels of prey density with two different predator treatments. The results show the functional response model of Paederus sp. predators. against the prey of Aphid spp. Described in a type II model. The level of predation of Paederus sp. showed different results for the two treatments and an increasing cystoid curve at a rising rate. The level of predation is still increasing, along with the increase in host density, and can be a starting point for controlling the Aphid spp and using predators Paederus sp. in the field.

Background: The learning process emphasizes students' active involvement and is oriented towards applying the concept of learning by doing and prioritizing personal experiences through observing, asking, and communicating to increase student creativity. However, reality proves that the application and implementation of learning in schools are not as expected. Some problems include the learning process only focusing on completing the subject matter, not on forming an understanding of the subject matter for students. This study aimed to analyze the need to develop electronic teaching materials according to the needs of students based on problem-based learning (PBL) learning models in biology subjects at MAN 1 Palembang school. Methods: The research used a qualitative descriptive method with a survey method by conducting interviews and questionnaires with biology teachers and students. Questionnaires, observations, and interviews provided data collection techniques. Results: The results obtained are textbooks and learning videos are the teaching materials most often used by teachers using discovery learning and project-based learning (PjBL) models. Students' activeness can be seen when the discussion activities and presentations of assignments take place, but it does not make students think critically. Conclusion: Teachers want problem-based learning (PBL) electronic teaching materials so that students can learn the material earlier and improve learning outcomes in material that is difficult for students to understand.

Coleoptera predatory beetles are one of the predators that inhabit the vegetation and soil surface in rice fields. Agricultural landscape simplification measures lead to the loss of important habitats for a diversity of predatory beetle species. One of the important roles of this beetle is to control agricultural pest populations during the rice season and fallow period. Thus, the aim of this research is to determine the species composition of predatory Coleoptera beetles in rice and fallow land ecosystems. The sampling method uses an insect suction machine and trap holes with three repetitions. The research results showed that there were 20 species of predatory beetles that had been identified consisting of 5 families, namely the Carabidae family (10 species), Staphylinidae (5 species), Coccinellidae (3 species) and Anthicidae (2 species). A total of 9 species of Coleoptera predatory beetles can be found in two ecosystems. The number of species found shows that biodiversity in the agroecosystem is still relatively stable due to vegetation and land management intensity. Thus, the predatory Coleoptera beetles in rice paddy ecosystems are still quite complex and diverse. So, predatory beetles can be used as biological control. Soap is a cleaning agent commonly used in daily life, especially for Riyadhotul Arifin Junior High School students who live in the school dormitory (pondok). This community service (PkM) aims to provide training in making dish soap by utilizing pandanus and orange leaves around the school. The PkM method is in the form of mentoring 16 students through direct practice of making liquid soap, discussion, and closing. The high enthusiasm of students during the manufacturing process and the presentation of the results of the liquid dish soap that has been produced are evidence of the achievement of the PkM carried out. Similar activities can be an input for other boarding schools.

While the importance of biological control for crop production is widely recognized, research on how farmers view predatory insects in eradicating pests on agricultural land is still rare. Although there is much ecological research on predatory beetles as part of biological control, little social research has been conducted on the critical level of understanding of biological control and the organisms involved. This research examines farmers' understanding of using predatory beetles as a biological control concept on agricultural land in Gunung Batu Village, East OKU Regency. Therefore, this research aims to see how farmers' skills are in managing integrated pest control using predatory Coleoptera beetles in managing rice cultivation. The research results show that farmers still use predatory beetles as part of controlling pest populations on agricultural land. Farmers consider predatory beetles to prevent pest outbreaks that can harm quality rice production. So, farmers can build a network of farmers so they can learn from each other and share local knowledge. Apart from that, the results obtained from integrated pest control, farmers can experience positive results and can positively influence farmers' perceptions of natural enemies of agricultural pests.
