Abstract

Parasitism research Trichogramma sp. (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) has been carried out with the aim of studying the functional response of the parasitoid Trichogramma sp. Functional response is one measure to determine the effectiveness of a predator or parasitoid as an agent in biological control, so that it can express a change in the number of preys attacked by individual predators. Temperature is one of the most important host-parasitoid interactions in functional responses. The method used in the parasitoid parasitism Trichogramma sp. on the host Corcyra sp. using four levels of egg density Corcyra sp. with two different temperature treatments (27OC and room temperature). The results show the functional response model of the parasitoid Trichogramma sp. against its host Corcyra sp. described in the type I model. Parasitization level of Trichogramma sp. showed the same results for both temperature treatments, however, it also shows differences in the speed of predation. It also showed linearity between the parasitoids Trichogramma sp. with the host Corcyra sp. Parasitism rates are still increasing, along with an increase in host density. This research can be a starting point to improve the control of Corcyra sp. using the parasitoid Trichogramma sp. in the field.

Abstract

Butterfly diversity depends on land type, vegetation, and human intervention in the ecosystem. This is because butterflies are very sensitive and easily affected by ecological changes and variations in plant community structure. If there is a slight change in habitat, it can cause migration or extinction of butterflies. This study aims to determine the number of butterfly species diversity that visit tanjung trees (Mimusops elengi) in community yards. This study was conducted in community land on Jalan Tanjung Rawo, Bukit Lama sub-district, Ilir Barat 1 District, Palembang City. The location of the study was determined based on the exploratory method, namely insect sampling using insect nets. Based on the results of the study 25.11 individual butterflies were obtained consisting of 8 species and 2 families (Nymphalidae and Pieridae). The Pieridae family is the number of butterfly individuals most often found as many as 8.12 individuals of Appias lyncida butterflies, and the least found is Leptosia nina (0.23 individuals) which also comes from the same family. The diversity index (1.64), and the evenness index (0.788) are included in the moderate category. In addition, 10 types of plants were also found in the community's yard that support the diversity of butterflies at that location. The number of species found in the morning, afternoon, and evening did not differ much, so that the similarity of visiting species reached 87.5%. This is related to the behavior of visiting butterfly species, also related to the morphology of flowers and hidden pollen. The results of this study are expected to provide the latest information regarding the diversity of butterflies that are active in community yards with almost the same types of plants in each community yard.

Abstract

The scientific approach is a form of character education integrated into learning activities. The success of implementing character values internalization learning is largely determined by the teacher's skills in selecting and implementing appropriate learning models. However, in reality, school teachers still do not apply learning models that suit the students' character, and the teaching materials used also do not support character internalization learning. So, this research aims to determine the characteristics of students and the type of materials and modules to be developed based on conditions in the field. This research uses qualitative research with a descriptive approach based on ongoing problems in class X SMA Bina Ilmi, Palembang City—techniques for obtaining data in the field, namely interview techniques, observation, and documentation. The research results showed that students were of an age that had entered the formal operational stage, understood abstract concepts, had high curiosity, and tended to like discovering new things. Meanwhile, the material analysis results showed three ecosystem materials that can stimulate students' curiosity: interactions between species, ecosystem components, and ecological pyramids. This material will be made into a teaching module based on discovery learning. This model-based module can make students build their knowledge through independent observation to increase students' reasoning power in developing environmental concepts following ecosystem material and learning resources that can provide interesting discovery concepts to explore curiosity to observe and process information in the learning process and understand ecosystem material.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education is sought in the teaching and learning process. Learning is a process that impacts teachers and students in teaching and learning activities by increasing interest in material that is considered problematic. Media and learning models that can foster students' sense of creativity play an essential role in overcoming obstacles to understanding subject matter that students consider difficult. So, this research aims to discover the types of media and learning models that are supposed to increase the creativity of Class X students at SMA PGRI 1 Palembang. The method used is a method with a descriptive research design and data collection using questionnaires, interviews, and observations during learning. The results show that students need learning media that is often related to their daily lives, namely social media. The social media that is most owned by students and is considered to be able to act as additional media in learning is Instagram. Students chose this social media platform because it can foster students' sense of creativity in creating work that helps them understand complicated subject matter. These students' opinions support selecting the PjBL model as the learning model biology students and teachers need. This is because combining media and learning models suitable for use in the classroom provides opportunities to increase students' creativity in finding ways to understand the subject matter independently.
