Abstract

This study aims to develop an Islamic counseling model of Mujadalah Ahsan to overcome mental health problems (mental illness) in final year students of the Islamic Education Counseling Guidance Study Program (BKPI) at State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN) in Sumatra. Final-year BKPI students often face academic, social, and personal pressures that can trigger mental health disorders. The Mujadalah Ahsan model proposed in this study integrates Islamic counseling principles with a good and wise communication approach (ahsanu mujadalah), by the teachings of the Qur'an. The research method used is research and development (R&D), which involves needs analysis, model development, validation test by experts, and implementation in the field. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and questionnaires distributed to students and BKPI supervisors at PTKIN. The results showed that the Mujadalah Ahsan Islamic counseling model is effective in helping students overcome problems of anxiety, depression, and academic pressure through a harmonious spiritual and psychological approach. This model also contributes to developing Islamic counseling theory and practice that is more relevant in the context of Islamic higher education and enriching alternative approaches in dealing with mental health in students. Thus, this model is hoped to be implemented more widely in various PTKIN in Indonesia to support students' mental well-being.

Abstract

Indonesia's palm oil industry is facing a sustainability crisis driven by large-scale deforestation, ecosystem degradation, high carbon emissions, and human rights violations. These issues are exacerbated by weak land governance, productivity disparities, and the lack of a holistic integration of public policies in responding to global ecological, social, and economic pressures. This study aims to analyze palm oil policies within the framework of sustainable development using the Multiple Streams Framework. The research employs a qualitative method through a literature review, critically examining government policies and related reports on palm oil governance in the context of sustainable development. Findings reveal that the industry's sustainability is hindered by the misalignment between economic growth, environmental conservation, and social justice. Although the government has introduced policies such as B40 biodiesel and the National Action Plan for Sustainable Palm Oil (RAN-KSB), major challenges persist, particularly in weak governance, social inequality, and environmental damage. This study recommends the reformulation of more transparent and sustainable policies to promote a more responsible palm oil industry. Keywords: Palm Oil;  Sustainable Development; Public Policy;

Abstract

Merdeka Curriculum is a new curriculum implemented in Indonesia since 2022. After almost two years of implementation, curriculum implementers, especially teachers, are still in the adaptation stage of this curriculum. Even though the Ministry of Education has implemented various supporting programs for the successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, such as the “guru penggerak” program, it turns out that not all teachers have the opportunity to take part in the program. So that in the learning process in the classroom there are still many teachers who experience difficulties. One of the main problems for teachers in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum is that teachers have never developed lesson plans in the form of teaching modules. Therefore, through community service (PkM), the service team conducted workshop in developing teaching modules for the Merdeka Curriculum for teachers who are members of the MGMP IPA MTs in Padang-Pariaman City. This PkM activity is carried out with a service learning approach. The result of this PkM activity is that teachers are able to develop teaching module templates which will be used as a basis for developing PjBL–based plans to strengthen the profile of Pancasila.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics and dilemmas faced by Pesantren Salafiyah in West Sumatra in maintaining traditional Islamic education amidst the currents of modernization and globalization. The research approach used is a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The research subjects included kiai, teachers or ustadz, santri, almuni, and the surrounding community from several pesantren salafiyah, namely Pesantren Ashhabul Yamin Lasi in Agam Regency, Pesantren al-Manaar Batuampar in Lima Puluh Kota, MTI III Kampung Candung, MTI Tengku Tuah in Lima Puluh Kota, Pondok, and MTI Batang Kabung. The study’s results indicate that pesantren salafiyah play an important role in preserving the treasures of classical Islamic knowledge by teaching “kitab kuning” (classical Islamic texts) using traditional methods such as bandongan, sorogan, and halaqah. However, pesantren faces complex challenges, including changes in educational policies, limited resources, leadership renewal, and public perceptions of the relevance of pesantren graduates in the modern world. Nevertheless, many pesantren demonstrate adaptive capabilities through selective integration of modern elements, such as the addition of a general curriculum, strengthened management, and the use of learning technology, without abandoning their scholarly identity. The principle of "al-muhafazhah 'ala al-qadim al-shalih wa al-akhdz bi al-jadid al-ashlah" (religious guidance, the guidance of the righteous) serves as the basis for maintaining a balance between tradition and innovation. With wise and collaborative management, pesantren salafiyah has the potential to become models of relevant and sustainable Islamic education.
