Abstract

Introduction: the expanding demand for copra (the dried flesh of a coconut), the desiccated kernel of the coconut fruit, underscores its promising potential for agroindustrial development. Effective partnership formations emerge as pivotal drivers in this context. This study aims to ascertain the most productive partnership patterns within five distinct mechanisms operating in Bulukumba, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Methods: the research site was determined using a purposive method, selecting five sub-districts prominent for coconut production, and employing the snowball sampling technique for data collection. Productivity analysis was conducted utilizing efficiency criteria and profit ratios across various partnership patterns. Results: efficiency and profit ratios were calculated for each mechanism as follows: 1) middlemen involvement yielded an efficiency of 107% and a profit ratio of 0.94; 2) engagement with local traders resulted in 77% efficiency and a profit ratio of 1.29; 3) participation in farmers' associations exhibited 36% efficiency and a profit ratio of 2.76; 4) group mechanisms demonstrated 86% efficiency and a profit ratio of 1.17; while 5) subcontract mechanisms displayed 31% efficiency and a profit ratio of 3.24. Conclusion: among the investigated mechanisms, the subcontract mechanisms emerged as the most productive partnership model, while the middlemen mechanism, non-partnership, exhibited the lowest productivity.

Abstract

Introduction: The pivotal role of the agricultural sector in Indonesia's economic advancement stems from the employment of a significant portion of the Indonesian populace. Central to this sector are agricultural extension workers tasked with fostering motivational shifts, altering operational methodologies, and instilling adaptive practices congruent with technological advancements. This research endeavors to scrutinize the modus operandi of agricultural extension workers amidst the digital metamorphosis era within the Agricultural Extension Center situated in Lowokwaru, Malang, Indonesia. Methods: Employing a Mixed methods approach, this study draws upon primary and secondary data sources. Thirty samples, affiliated with the Farmers Group at the Agricultural Extension Center in Lowokwaru Malang, constitute the study cohort, selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data accrual involves questionnaire administration, employing the Likert scale as the measurement metric. Statistical analysis entails multiple linear regression, facilitated through SPSS 22 software. Results: Simultaneously, variables embodying extension workers' roles as facilitators, innovators, motivators, dynamists, and educators collectively impact the income of registered farmers at the Agricultural Extension Center in Lowokwaru, Malang. Conclusion: This study reveals that the roles of extension workers as facilitators, innovators, and educators significantly enhance farmers' capacity to integrate digital technology into their agricultural practices. Nevertheless, the absence of direct statistical significance in some roles suggests the interplay of other critical factors, such as farmers' readiness to adopt technology and external support mechanisms. These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions to bolster extension workers' capabilities and farmer engagement with digital innovations.

Abstract

Apples are a well known and growing horticultural commodity in Batu City, but in recent years many apple farmers have converted their agricultural land into orange plantations. This change occurred due to several factors such as unstable apple price fluctuations, high production costs, and increasing outbreaks of apple pests and diseases which are challenges for farmers to overcome due to climate change. But on the contrary, orange plants are considered more adaptive to environmental conditions and have promosing market opportunities, making them a more rational choice for farmers. Most people in Punten Village use their agricultural land to farm oranges with various varieties. However, even though the production is quite high, optimizing farmers income still faces challenges. Therefore, farmers must study in depth the aspects that affect income in order to maximize their income. The purpose of this study was to identify factors that affect the income of citrus farming in Punten Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City. The population selection was taken by purposive sampling, namely apple farmers who switched to citrus farmers. The population obtained was 240 farmers and 36 farmers were selected randomly (random sampling). Multiple linear regression analysis was used in this study. Land area (X1), labor costs (X2), seed costs (X3), fertilizer costs (X4), pesticide cost (X5) became independent variables, and income (Y) as the dependent variable. The results showed that the variables of land area and seed costs had a significant and unidirectional influence on income. The variable of fertilizer costs had a significant but not unidirectional influence. Meanwhile, farmer income was not affected by the variables of labor costs and pesticide costs.

Abstract

Advances in digital technology have driven changes in student consumption patterns, particularly through the use of e-wallets and e-commerce as the primary means of transaction. The ease of access, speed of processing, and variety of promotions have made digital platforms an important part of consumption activities, including purchases that are not always based on actual needs. This situation has given rise to a tendency toward consumerism among students. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the use of e-wallets and e-commerce and the level of consumerism among students in the purchase of food and non-food products. The approach used is quantitative, with descriptive analysis to map the characteristics of respondents and Spearman's Rho correlation test to measure the relationship between variables. Data was collected through a questionnaire administered to active users of digital platforms. The results show that the majority of respondents have a high frequency of using e-wallets and e-commerce, with ready-to-eat food and personal care products being the dominant categories. The correlation test shows a relationship between the use of digital platforms and the level of consumerism among students. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening financial and digital literacy to encourage more rational and sustainable consumption behavior among students.

Abstract

PT Kreasi Tani Bumiaji is an agro-industry enterprise located in the Bumiaji District of Batu City, dedicated to the production of crystal guava. The uncertainty of raw materials and marketing is the most significant challenge that PT Kreasi Tani Bumiaji encounters in its supply chain. At the conclusion of the season, crystal guava is exceedingly challenging to acquire, and the demand cannot be satisfactorily satisfied. Limited market share has prevented the company from optimizing production following the conclusion of the harvest season. This research endeavors to ascertain the structure and mechanism of the crystal guava agro-industry supply chain, identify the risks that arise within the supply chain, and devise effective mitigation strategies to mitigate these risks. The informants in this research were three individuals who were experts in the company's supply chain. Vorst (2006) framework is implemented in this investigation to ascertain the supply chain's structure and mechanism. The SCOR model is employed to map supply chain activities in order to identify the risks that arise and develop effective mitigation methods. Subsequently, the HOR method and Pareto diagram are employed to classify the risks and any associated mitigation. The study's findings indicate that the company's supply chain comprises industrial entities, farmers, product retailers, and final consumers. 51 risk events, 51 risk agents, and 29 priority risk agents were acquired by HOR Model one. 12 priority mitigation strategies that require immediate implementation were obtained by HOR Model 2. Additionally, 20 mitigation strategy proposals were obtained.

Abstract

Human resources play a crucial role in a company's success, including PT Inovasi Pangan Lestari, an MSME-scale agro-industrial company in Malang. Despite its commitment to improving agricultural output and product distribution, the company's human resource management still needs attention. Informal performance appraisals, unstructured organization, and lack of an optimal supervisory system are the main challenges. This study aims to determine the application of human resource management functions at PT Inovasi Pangan Lestari, including planning, organizing, directing, and controlling, and relate it to theory and previous studies so that it can be an evaluation for PT Inovasi Pangan Lestari and other agro-industrial companies to improve productivity and company performance. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data analysis method used is thematic analysis through open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The results obtained are that human resource management practices are still simple and managed directly by the board of directors. PT Inovasi Pangan Lestari faces challenges in managing human resources because the company is still in the growth stage. For this reason, the company needs to set up a structured organization, improve employee briefings, and ensure objective and transparent performance evaluations to identify appropriate training needs.
