Abstract

Background: Pregnant women with a history of cesarean section have problems choosing the delivery method for their next pregnancy. Sometimes there are still other risk factors, one of which is high myopia, which adds to the problem of choosing an effective delivery method with the advantages and disadvantages of each. Continuity of care in midwifery is very important in providing patients insight, knowledge, and support to make decisions about appropriate and safe delivery methods. Case report: A 29-year-old woman G2P1A0 with high myopia (minus 8) and cesarean scar three years ago for indications of high myopia (minus 10). In this second pregnancy, the mother underwent another SC because of high myopia minus 8, and the mother has not had a retinal laser until the present. Patients receive referrals from a primary health center for antenatal care and preparation for delivery at referral health facilities with high-risk pregnancies. Mothers are faced with two choices: TOLAC (Trial Of Labor After Cesarean Delivery) and ERCD (Elective Repeat Cesarean Delivery). The mother was consulted by an eye specialist at the referral hospital. The condition of the eye’s retina is good from the results of an eye specialist examination. However, it is still necessary to do a retinal laser process as prophylaxis if the mother wants to have a vaginal delivery. In the end, cesarean delivery is the mother's choice. Conclusion: Pregnancies with high myopia and cesarean scars need to receive full support from midwives and families to carry out comprehensive COC care to improve the health of mothers and children by assisting mothers in selecting delivery methods that are effective and safe for both mother and baby.

Abstract

The main risk in pregnancies occur at 4T (too many, too young, too old, and too close birth spacing). The distance between the previous delivery and the next pregnancy and the previous method of delivery are two of the many other factors that affect the condition of the mother and the fetus that will be born later. This case report aims to analyze the effect of spacing between the last child and history of previous births on the outcome of the mother and her baby. This report describes data on pregnant women participating in the Continuity of Care (CoC) program. The results show that the outcomes obtained by the mother in this second delivery are within normal limits. However, this does not mean the possibility for pregnancies that are not planned properly to cause events that are detrimental to the mother and fetus are none.

Abstract

Background: Quality antenatal care services play a very important role in reducing MMR and IMR. With quality antenatal care, mothers and babies can get essential services, identify risk factors immediately, and get access to emergency help amid the COVID-19 pandemic as it is now. The quality of health services is related to patient satisfaction. Satisfaction can provide a good start, create repeat patient visits and provide recommendations for other pregnant women patients. Objective: Analyzing the relationship between perceptions of the quality of antenatal care services and patient satisfaction of pregnant women at the Public Health Center during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: this type of research is an observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. The number of samples is 73 respondents, the sample is taken by non-probability sampling with consecutive sampling technique. The independent variable is the perceived quality of antenatal services. The dependent variable is patient satisfaction. The instrument used was a google form questionnaire, and the data analysis using the Spearman rank test. Result: the majority of respondents gave good perceptions on the dimensions of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and direct evidence. Respondents with good perceptions were more than half satisfied, while respondents with sufficient perceptions were mostly dissatisfied with antenatal care services. Spearman's rank test results for each dimension obtained P=0.001 (P<0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between perceptions of the quality of antenatal care services and patient satisfaction of pregnant women at the Public Health Center during the COVID-19 pandemic.. keyword : Perception, Quality of service, COVID-19

Abstract

Background: Data on contraceptive use are needed to evaluate contraceptive use and plan for future needs. Changes in contraceptive method use and the factors that influence contraceptive method use are serious matters that need to be considered. Methods: This study used secondary data from the Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) in 2007, 2012, and 2017. The research design used was cross-sectional. Researchers used descriptive analysis to determine the characteristics of married women who use contraception. Inferential analysis was used to see the relationship between sociodemographic factors and the use of contraceptive method types. Results: The results of the analysis showed that the most widely used type of contraception from 2007-2017 was injectable contraception. Most married women who used contraceptives were in the age group of 30-39 years, had only 1-2 children, had a high school education and below, and worked as housewives. Women living in rural and urban areas have equal opportunities to obtain contraceptive services. Even women with the lowest wealth index still have access to contraceptives. The chi-square test results of age, education, occupation, residence, and wealth index variables with p = 0.000 (p < 0.005) from 2007-2017, as well as the variable number of children with p = 0.000 (p < 0.005) in 2007, p = 0.002 (p < 0.005) in 2012 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.005) in 2017. Conclusion: This study found a positive association between contraceptive method use and the variables of age, education, occupation, number of children, place of residence, and wealth index.

Abstract

Background: Menstrual cups have many advantages compared to other menstrual products but have not been widely used and are less desirable due to limited knowledge. In Indonesia, the majority of women use disposable sanitary napkins as menstrual products because they can be easily found even though the use of sanitary napkins can have a negative impact on health and the environment. The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between knowledge and interest in using menstrual cup among women of reproductive age. Method: This study was an observational analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used sequential sampling. The sample size studied was 100 women of reproductive age in the service area of Mulyorejo Health Center, Surabaya, Indonesia who met the inclusion criteria. The research instrument used a questionnaire containing a list of questions related to knowledge and interest in using menstrual cups. Data were analyzed using the chi square test. Results: The results of this study showed that out of 100 respondents, 52 respondents (52%) had poor knowledge, 31 respondents (31%) had sufficient knowledge and 17 respondents (17%) had good knowledge. A total of 69 respondents (69%) were not interested in using menstrual cups. The results of the chi square test analysis showed a p value of 0.086 (p> 0.05). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between knowledge and interest in using menstrual cup.

Abstract

Background: The estimated occurrence and mortality rates of Central Nervous System (CNS) tumors in Indonesia in 2016 were 6,337 and 5,405, respectively. Based on medical record data from Dr. Soetomo General Hospital, Surabaya, for the period of 2017-2021, there were 1,192 meningioma patients. The manifestation of meningioma linked with age and is 2.3 times higher in women than in men. Sex hormones are considered one of the risk factors for meningioma development. The medroxyprogesterone injectable contraceptive is the most widely used type of contraception in Indonesia. The majority of contraceptives used by meningioma patients at Dr. Soetomo General Hospital during the 2012-2016 period were hormonal contraceptives of the progestin-only type. This study aims to analyze the association between the history of using progestin-only injectable hormonal contraception and the odds of cerebral meningioma among female patients at Dr. Soetomo General Hospital, Surabaya, during the 2020-2024 period. Methods: This study uses a retrospective case-control approach. The sample size was 30 subjects for the case group (cerebral meningioma) and 30 subject for the control group. The control group (Non-Cerebral Meningioma) is maintained, but these limitations are acknowledged in the discussion. An independent variable is a 3-month history of injectable contraceptive use (progestin-only), which is defined in more detail by duration and recentness. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The research instrument utilized was electronic medical records. The data analysis uses the Chi-square and Multivariate Binary Logistic Regression tests to calculate the Adjusted Odds Ratio (OR) with a 95% Confidence Interval. Results: The results indicated a highly significant association between the history of 3-month injectable contraception use and cerebral meningioma incidence (p < 0.001). Further stratification analysis revealed an adjusted Odds Ratio (OR) of 6.00 (95% CI: 1.17–30.73) for the history of exposure and 1.58 (95% CI: 1.08–2.30) for the duration of use. Although the risk estimates adjusted during stratification, both factors remained statistically significant risk indicators. Conclusion: The data suggest a strong association between a 3-month history of injectable contraceptive use with greater odds of developing cerebral meningioma.
