Abstract

Self-confidence is essential for a child's development and should be fostered from an early age. It is an attitude of certainty in one's abilities and pride in one's accomplishments. Nurturing self-confidence in early childhood is crucial for their future development. This study explores how wall climbing activities can promote self-confidence in young children. Wall climbing is a physical activity, sometimes considered an extreme sport, that involves scaling an artificial wall with artificial rock formations serving as handholds and footholds. Participating in wall climbing offers numerous benefits for young children, including building self-confidence. This qualitative study employed observation, interviews, and documentation to collect data. The research aims to investigate the role of wall climbing in fostering self-confidence in early childhood, identify factors that support children's self-confidence, and describe the challenges teachers face when implementing wall climbing activities at PAUD Sabila Ponorogo. The findings indicate that wall climbing can instill self-confidence in young children by fostering self-assurance, optimism, courage, a positive attitude, and initiative. Verbal encouragement from teachers and facilitators plays a vital role in supporting children's self-confidence, especially when they experience doubt or fear. A key challenge identified was the climbing wall's design, which was deemed unappealing and unsuitable for young children. Therefore, a redesign is recommended to make the wall more engaging and challenging for this age group

Abstract

Background : The reality of English learning at the PAUD level is still faced with various challenges, such as the lack of available learning media, the lack of teachers with adequate qualifications, and the limited variety of teaching methods. Aim : This study aims to determine, explain, and analyze the implementation of English introduction to early childhood through the Direct Method at Pembina Ponorogo State Kindergarten. Method : This study uses a qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation methods. The subjects of the study included 24 children, consisting of 8 boys and 16 girls, teachers, and principals. The research indicators include 4 aspects of language skills including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Result : The results of the study revealed that the Implementation of the Direct Method at Pembina Ponorogo Research findings indicate that the application of the Direct Method is not only effective in stimulating children's cognitive and linguistic abilities but also integrates fine motor stimulation—making it more holistic than other conventional approaches. Compared to other media or methods, the Direct Method offers an intuitive and interactive learning framework based on the stimulus-response principle, which is highly suited to the learning characteristics of young children. Conclusion : The strength of this method lies in the active role of the teacher as both a facilitator and a language model, thereby bridging theory and practice in a practical way. Although challenges such as maintaining children's focus still exist, this method has proven to significantly enhance listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Therefore, kindergarten/preschool teachers are advised to optimize the integration of fine motor activities, provide consistent guidance, and create a supportive learning environment to maximize the potential of this method.

Abstract

Ideological change in the representation of gemblak is an important issue in social discourse studies. This research uses Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to examine the representation of gemblak in mass media and the novel Gemblak: Tragedi Cinta Budak Homoseks by Enang Rokajat Asura. The research objective is to reveal the language and ideology that shape the image of gemblak. The method used is qualitative with a discourse analysis approach. Data in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences were collected through interviews and document studies. The results show that Detik News portrays gemblak positively as a figure who deserves respect, teaches politeness, and is good at socializing. In contrast, the novel frames gemblak as a negative figure, leading to bad judgment from society. This difference reflects the dynamics of power and changing social values in shaping the meaning of gem-blak. In conclusion, mass media and fiction have different ideological constructions in representing gemblak in the public sphere.

Abstract

Javanese is one of Indonesia's regional languages facing near extinction. Therefore, introducing Javanese from an early age is crucial for preserving noble cultural values. PAUD Sabila Ponorogo implements early Javanese language introduction through Circle Time activities. This research aims to describe the implementation and identify challenges in introducing Javanese to early childhood through Circle Time activities. A qualitative research approach was employed for this study. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that Javanese language introduction at PAUD Sabila Ponorogo focuses on three main areas: Javanese vocabulary, traditional children's songs (tembang dolanan), and etiquette or manners (unggah-ungguh) in daily interactions. The learning process is well-structured through systematically designed teaching modules aligned with learning themes. Each session targets the introduction of at least 10 new vocabulary words consistently presented to children in every meeting. However, the implementation faces both technical and non-technical challenges for teachers and the school. Despite these obstacles, teachers and the school have successfully addressed emerging problems by adapting teaching strategies and conducting continuous evaluations to enhance the effectiveness of Javanese language learning at PAUD Sabila Ponorogo.

Abstract

Arabic is a foreign language which is a compulsory subject in Madrasas, therefore learning Arabic is a superior program in madrasas which differentiates it from other public schools. Arabic language learning in Indonesia in particular is currently experiencing an increase, various innovations are starting to be made, one of which is developing teaching materials according to the needs of madrasa students. Developing teaching materials seems to be something that teachers must do in order to attract students' interest in learning Arabic. Some textbooks that are often used by schools are basically textbooks that originate from the Middle East. Even though there has been textbook development carried out by Arabic language teachers and developers, there are still very few who pay attention to students' needs in learning Arabic. The research will begin with coordination and interviews with the school principal to find out Arabic language learning achievements, who will then conduct interviews with teachers and students regarding their tendencies to learn Arabic, students' backgrounds and observations of the Arabic language learning tools used. Next, carry out a needs analysis as a basic material for developing Arabic teaching materials for Madrasah Al Birru Ponorogo students. The output of the research is in the form of scientific articles which will be published in reputable journals in the field of Arabic language education such as Al-Bayan, and so on.

Abstract

This study investigates the representation of cidra (heartbreak or betrayal of promise) and the construction of Javanese masculinity in Didi Kempot’s song lyrics through a sociopragmatic approach. Drawing on seven songs from four albums, the analysis proceeds in three steps: (1) segmenting the lyrics into expressive speech acts, (2) interpreting them through affective cultural scripts, and (3) situating the findings within masculinity discourses. The results reveal a tripartite model of male emotionality: (1) loyalty and patience that affirm Javanese cultural values, (2) emotional fragility expressed through crying and complaint, which challenges the script of stoic masculinity, and (3) resignation (lilo) as a culturally sanctioned coping mechanism. These dimensions converge into the concept of hybrid masculinity, which reconciles normative ideals with emotional expressions previously deemed inappropriate for Javanese men. Theoretically, this study contributes a sociopragmatic framework for analyzing emotional speech acts in non-Western contexts and positions popular music not only as a reflection but also as a site for reshaping gender norms. Practically, it demonstrates how Didi Kempot’s songs function as a form of collective cultural therapy, offering insights for culturally sensitive approaches to men’s mental health.

Abstract

AbstrakTujuan utama penelitian ini adalah mengenalkan keterampilan menulis melalui komik pada pendidikan anak usia dini (PAUD). Pengenalan keterampilan berbahasa ini secara spesifik dikhususkan pada keterampilan menulis anak. Selama ini bahan ajar dalam pembelajaran berbahasa yang disampaikan oleh para guru PAUD masih terkesan monoton, sehingga anak-anak menjadi bosan dalam belajar berbahasa. Komik merupakan sebuah terobosan bahan pembelajaran yang inovatif dan kreatif dalam proses peningkatan keterampilan dalam berbahasa khususnya dalam bidang menulis pada PAUD. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian dan pengembangan. Metode penelitian ini pada hakikatnya adalah mendeskripsikan tentang proses pengembangan bahan ajar yang diintegrasikan pada pendidikan anak usia dini. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa komik merupakan salah satu bahan ajar yang dapat dijadikan sebagai inovasi pembelajaran keterampilan menulis pada pendidikan anak usia dini yang kreatif dan inovatif.AbstractThe main purpose of this research is to introduce comic writing skill in early childhood education (PAUD). The introduction of these language skills is specifically devoted to children's writing skills. So far, teaching materials in language learning delivered by PAUD teachers still seem monotonous, so the children become bored in learning to speak. Comics is a breakthrough innovative and creative learning materials in the process of improving skills in language, especially in the field of writing in early childhood. The method used in this research using research and development approach. This research method is essentially describes the process of developing teaching materials that are integrated in early childhood education. Abstract

Language skills in the 4.0 industrial revolution era like today are very important. Based on the purpose of this study is to describe and explain the appropriateness of the material contained in the comic book based on local wisdom beginning reading category for early childhood education. Basically this research is based on the phenomenon in the community regarding the habit of using gadgets in early childhood which results in addiction. This local wisdom-based comic Reog Ponorogo is one of the answers to the community's anxiety about parenting in dealing with children who are addicted to using gadgets. This comic is one of the solutions that can be used by the community, especially young parents who are confused about providing reading materials that are appropriate to their age. Thus, this article discusses the feasibility of this book's material as reading material in early childhood. This type of research is a descriptive study in which data collection techniques can be done through document analysis. Thus, the existence of comics based on local wisdom can be used as one of the literacy materials, especially in assisting parenting in the use of devices wisely in early childhood education.           ABSTRAKKemampuan berbahasa di era revolusi industri 4.0 seperti saat ini sangatlah penting. Berdasarkan tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan kelayakan materi yang terdapat dalam buku komik berbasis kearifan lokal kategori membaca permulaan bagi pendidikan anak usia dini. Pada dasarnya penelitian ini berlatarbelakangkan fenomena di masyarakat mengenai kebiasaan penggunaan gawai pada anak usia dini yang mengahkibatkan kecanduan. Komik berbasis kearifan lokal Reog Ponorogo ini sebagai salah satu  jawaban atas kegelisahan  masyarakat  mengenai pola asuh dalam menghadapi anak yang kecanduan menggunakan gawai. Komik inilah salah satu solusi yang dapat digunakan oleh masyarakat khususnya orang tua muda yang kebingungan memberikan bahan bacaan yang sesuai dengan usianya. Dengan demikian, pada artikel ini dibahas mengenai kelayakan materi buku ini sebagai bahan bacaan pada anak usia dini. Jenis penelitian ini ialah penelitian deskriptif yang teknik pengumpulan datanya dapat dilakukan melalui analisis dokumen. Dengan demikian, dengan adanya komik berbasis kearifan lokal ini dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu bahan literasi khususnya pada pendampingan pola asuh penggunaan gawai secara bijak pada pendidikan anak usia dini.
